He thinks you're an idiot when you ask him questions, that he thinks you should already know the answer to, not realizing that you do know the answer and are testing him to see if he knows or has the initiative to find the correct answers (not all questions have only one answer). Reminds me of working with my dad at that age. Show us more of these!

Some options? At your 16 min run your wire (red) back from where it goes to so that it is in place just needing to be pulled into final position. I flux the wire and uninsulated butt splice (crimp and solder ) cover with the dual wall heat shrink sometimes use two different sizes if I want something well protected. Yes I hate doing things again. When heat shrinking the shrink try going around the shrink to shrink it evenly. For covering the wire ends the dual wall heat shrink which fits just over the wire #14 or #12 heat the wire end the let it cool then heat the end and gently crimp with needle nose pliers Do leave extra length on the wire for further repair. Loop the extra onto the hose if the wire it temperature rated for it? Tyewrap as needed and rotate the ends away from working area. Tug test your crimps. Sorry I bring my grounds up to a good ground point to engine/frame.
I just got an engine cleaner at Auto Zone. There are 2types inexpensive one is for nasty built up grease and dirt. The other for computer and electrical wiring. It cleans and will not harm. Your truck need a good going over. You have enough built up grime if you ever have a small electrical fire your whole truck is going up. And if you can’t get out you a deep fried turkey. Serious business, happens!

Gotta have power to that heater or it won’t keep the fuel warm.😳 Wiring issues...one of my favorite things to troubleshoot - NOT! 😞 I had to retire my dad’s wrecker one time...no brake or tail lights...I found 3 different colors, gauges of wire on that old 6 volt truck. I like your digital tester...mine is just the green light probe tester. Tis good working with your son, right?! I did a lot with my oldest brother...spent countless hours under the hood, etc. Good mechanics start that way! 😎 Big question...DID IT WORK? lol.

I'm thankful, I am so far North, they switch the fuel over to #1 in late Sept. early Oct., yes mileage suffers, but very little gelling grief, only the people who forget to refuel, as soon as they cross the border, in winter.
You need a PM checklist it will save you lots of money and eventually save your life. On our own we forget or let thing slide. PM checklist keeps you ahead of the game (preventive maintenance) 🤓
You should rewire that plug for the dryer, use a butt connector, then seal it with dielectric grease, then heat shrink. The crap they put on the roads in PA will work its way into your connection.
As an electrician, I appreciate watching this. My only recommendation would be to use heat shrink on those butt splices. Melting the plastic on the connectors is ok, but it can creates sharp edges in the plastic and the vibration of trucking could eventually damage those connections.

A lot of them went to the hot side of the reverse switch to air dryer . Watch out you don’t leave any hot wires just because the end doesn’t have power doesn’t mean all the wire is dead . Old truck fire wire I strongly suggest a smoke detector when you sleep. I’m a mechanic and lost friends fixing up dreams
Do yourself a favor and put a indicator in the dash to let you see that the air drier and fuel heater are actually working..the chances of finding the actual "fuelheat" gauge is probably nil now..

Steve, The drier heater dosn't dry the air it only heats the blowoff valve. So you should put new desicant in the drier.

We used to make sleeves out of insulation and put them around the fuel filters in the winter in Michigan.

A neat trick is to use PVC pipe cement over the electrical tape - It fuses the tape together so it won't unrwap.

I used to hate working on wiring on older trucks for the fact that they had previously been cannibalized usually. Some were just plain nightmares.

When you replaced the Transmission, did you put a temperature gauge on it and the rear Diff ?
those wires that your not sure where they go could possibly be for rear end temp gauge and trans temp gauge...good video!!
We know which wires go to the temp gauge and it works fine. Sadly it never had diff temp gauges.

Sure is fun working where those places with a build up of grease, that never get washed, thankfully we do wash our hands and clothes, pull toy here
You should also change your cab jack or rebuild it so it's not leaking allover the place.
All that wiring is why I hate making electrical repairs on both my square bodies.

You should use a regular light tester cuz a led will light at the smallest of voltage edit sorry the smallest of current
These read voltage and have led lights. An incandescent will probably draw more amperage also
