- The redesigned GLA 250 is ready to prove that big things come in small packages. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 turbocharged engine producing 221HP & mated to an 8-speed DCT transmission. The exterior of the GLA 250 is actually a little shorter than the last generation but increase in wheelbase and with really bring more room to the interior. Great review! Subscribed! What is the biggest difference between the 2021 and 2020. I'm 5' and the head rest was too tall for me in earlier models, as well as too tight in the cabin. Did the body style change from 2020?
Joe, I like the fact that you have been exploring the glove compartment lately also I like that you fold down the back seats in all your reviews and mention the exact amount of cubic feet of space available. The GLA was never on my radar until your review. I was dead set on the RAV4 prime. But now I'm a little curious about this one.

Wow, the new 2021 design really defined the GLA and gave it a clear personality. Last December I went to a Mercedes dealership to buy a GLE and saw the GLA there. Both my wife and I both said "what is this? Too small to be even a compact SUV. Not a small station wagon. Maybe hatchback?" You are on point as always!!

I know you hate those back seat pocket net , I remember my aunts 1977 300D had that in her car.but because of you my 75 year old mom sister to my aunt got the 2020 Mercedes GLB 250 over two months now.
At 6'2" this is definitely the smart buy for me. Nice review as always! I wouldn't buy any car without viewing your review first.
Particularly like the many ways the media screen can be changed. I think it's best in class.

@Raschaud Farmer @Raschaud Farmer An engineer friend took me for a ride in his Acura Integra many years ago. He loved it! I was appalled at this noisy box on wheels. Never looked at Acura or Honda again from that one lasting impression. I might have missed some good cars but I'm still running my 2008 G35 so I didn't miss much.
I never was a fan of small displacement high state of tune approach but in today's world, that has become normal.
I give it a look anyway!

Never review a black car cause you just can't see the bodywork properly.
Well as I assumed, I didn't care for it. In particular, the placement of the non touch screen media center, the dynamic driving controller has a position front and center which I find strange as most do that function with a small switch on the console. Analog gauges is another miss.
So, thx for the recommendation but it's a pass for me. At a of price 44k we're talking AMG territory where I would get around 300hp vs 270hp.
@Raschaud Farmer for me, the RDX looked like a quality build but a bit dated. I much prefer the side by side 10.5" screens on the MB. Cleaner design and more integrated.

Love this GLA, a very practical and attainable car for me and I think that instead of the vents, they put fog lights there, it would have been a nicer touch.

for 1,000 dollars more you can get the light package. to light up vents and change color pink to orange. mine mercedes didn't have the package r navigation. I have navigation on my phone. lol the salesman was thing listen bitch u didn't need it. your next mercedes make sure it full loaded lmafo

Hey Joe, it's me with another suggestion. Since DRLs have become so unique to different manufacturers and even models and trim levels, would it be possible when you're critiquing and/or showcasing front end styling during your reviews, at some point to have them illuminated? If not, no biggie, just wanted to throw that out there.
Beautiful car I still kind of miss the shape of the old one which was a a class on higher wheels I liked that but it’s gorgeous crossover I’d still get the hatchback

The x5 and the gla are two very different vehicles. The gla is an entry line mercedes suv while the x5 is close to the top of the bmw suv line

Just ordered mine in the U.S. with AMG Line w/ Night Package and Premium, I hate how rear-seat cupholders are a $360 option and moonroof is $1500, should be standard!

Hey Joe will soon be helping a mid 80's dear friend of mine to replace her 2014 C300 4matic sedan...she still has her red 89 560SL she calls "Rita" and was disappointed with the interior quality of the C. Thinking that at her 5' tall stature a small SUV might be a good fit (and I'll be car shopping with her in a bit!) Too much technology will I'm sure over whelm her needs...While very today this would be too much. Any ideas? Comfort and sexy is what she wants!!! Thanks as always!

I like it but a little small for me personally. I’m trying to get used the the interiors on all the new Benz. I’m not sure if I like how the screen goes all the way across. I think it’s just the placement of it seems a little low to me.

Will have to say. I love this new look. But if I wanted a crossover from Mercedes that featured a longer wheelbase, GLB looks so sleek and practical. I currently drive a 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring with a CVT with 8k miles in less than 4 months of ownership, it’s been phenomenal. After I’ll paid this off and I’ll keep it for the long term. I’ll possibly consider a GLB as a leased option after my time in the military.

I ordered just one exactly the same colors but GLA 250 e (Hybrid) will arrive in mid october :-)
The reason they don't route the duel exhaust through the rear is so it doesn't muck the tubes up and leave exhaust burn marks / soot on the chrome. It's actually a big benefit :)
