Throughout the entire review I kept thinking about how the vehicle could be better -- larger sportier wheels, 40/60 AWD, more power, much smaller or barely visible bezels on the displays (what is it with Merc's and their massive bezels!?)
The "sport" model in the Uk, is called "Progressive" in the rest of the wrold. ALL the new fwd Merc's are super simple to work out, they all start in "Style" design line, and "Advantage" equipment line (Depending on the country), then you upgrade from style -> Progressive -> Amg-Line for looks and design, and as for equipment, you start from with the Advantage pack, and upgrade from Advantage package -> Premium Package -> Premium + Package :) I hope it clears up some stuff ;)
My mum has a GLA 45 AMG and it is a really sweet little car. Plenty of power to race most cars around the street and beat. Good handling and nice to drive

I think it looks great, I have a 2019 A250 and one of my few complaints about it is the very low ground clearance, this GLA is obviously much better in that sense 👍
I agree. Had a hire for about 4 months and the ground clearance was really low compared to the golf I had at the time, but the drive was nice and so was the gearbox.

If the aircon switch box is the same as the one in the A and B class it doesn't move at all unless you really move it with force, there is zero wobble when pressing switches or even pushing it with one hand.
My dad and I picked up our first ever luxury car, the 2020 x1 :') never been so happy. This is in India and the taxes here are insanee. I cant believe that GLA is only 43 grand. Itll be atleast 53 grand here in India after conversion.
Matt, just a slight correction the new Audi Q3 2020 version comes with Mild Hybrid system which means you end up with a 48v battery and DC-DC convertor in the boot eating into the available space and cannot lower the boot floor either ... argh....
I bought one 2 Months ago very pleased with it, it does 45 miles to the gallon which very important now a days, and it does not have that Renault Engine the last one had......
Why you complain about the price? In Turkey, even the GLA 200 AMG version (1.35 lt petrol engine) costs about 45.000 pounds! GLA 250 4Matic will have a price tag about 70.000 pounds! Tax rates in Turkey changes between 80% to 200% (!)
Excellent review Matt! Mercedes has definitely stepped up their game on the interior quality of the A class in general, but not to the extent where it encroaches on the E or C class of vehicles. I do however wish they kept the option of having non digital gauges. That notwithstanding, I think it would make a fine car for the lady 👌

I'm a recent Mercedes-Benz convert having driven Ford's for years, we bought a 61 plate SLK 200 as a treat and I was instantly struck by the build and ride quality, my Mrs is disabled and needs a high up SUV, we have a CH-R at the moment but the hybrid technology worries us as it's so complicated. We like the look of the GLA and thanks to your review I think we'll go for one!! 👍🏻
We recently got a GLA after looking at all the small SUV's. It's really comfortable for long drives and is extremely agile in town. A very nice car so far.
although the seat adjustments look nice on the door, they are quit dumb functionally - they make sense on the seat, you adjust the seat with your body not while you awkwardly reach over
Re gas struts for bonnet/hood opening here In Aussie, I owned two such cars in the sixties, & one in the US in the eighties. Old style 'posh' wouldn't you say. And for further context, the first Ford Corina had rotary air vents about 1960, sadly sands A/C.
Seems a bit deceiving, makes Mat look about 5’1” when stood by the side and sat in, but it’s basically an A Class so not that big at all. Be interested to see if this gets offered as a 250e.
I have a minor improvement for already amazing footage you make: I think you should not always have the AMG-line or M-line etc. versions of the everyday cars because many people are not even considering those. I would like to see more about normal/non-sporty-line versions because they are what most people are buying. Great work otherwise!👌
0:05 actually it is not essentially a A class (W177) but a lifted B class (W247) as the new GLA is internally referred to as H247. It also shares the passengers dashboard of the B class but not the A class.
I had pretty high expectations with this car. You said that you can hardly feel the bumps at all. But when I test drove it, I was quite disappointed. It was bumpy, loud road noise, and rattling sounds in the back. The A-Class I test drove was much better.
Even the base version comes with Apple Carplay / Android auto. All the MBUX cars have them as standard actually. All you have to do if activate it from within the Mercedes Me app. Yes, you have to pay like £280 one off, but cheaper than going for a higher spec version.
Although I really like the latest Mercedes SUVs, in the small SUV category I think BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 are way better. I Just ordered an X1 Xdrive 18d
Well you can get different ones if you want to, there are multiple choices. These are just the absolute standard ones most of these show cars have fitted to them. In my personal opinion these are not great, but way better for the mass market than something like the flashy weird Audi ones like on the new RS4 which are hideous for my personal taste. And the options at mercedes are good, especially the clean multi spoke 20" ones which you can also get in black for a more aggressive look.
