  • This was a special night at the Black Bellows music event space with Kitchener's FERAL MINKS commanding the floor. The "in your face" performance in front of an intimate crowd was a sign that rock is still very much alive. Never mind that its presence is not as prominent as it used to be on the top pop charts - a full-fledged rock band needs to deliver on stage so that masterfully crafted songs thrust at you with relentless energy. Listening to Feral Minks live was like living through a thoughtfully arranged album. Songs transitioned seamlessly from one to another and frontman, Kent, engaged the crowd with rock guy charm and even provided us with chants to sing along with (well..lot's of others did).
Nonetheless, I arrived earlier at the scene with a plan to record with 12 high resolution audio tracks streaming into a Macbook Pro. I thought I would be the first to ever simulate a full blown live concert over people's phones. Things seemed good when I confidently pressed record but after two minutes I noticed the dreaded "Hard drive too slow" message on the computer screen. Drats... All I could do was keep shooting and hope to keep some things in tact. Therefore, most of the audio you hear in this video is brought to you by my lowly built-in camera mic. All is not lost though as you can still find some excellent Feral Minks recordings on RUclips and your favourite streaming services. What I recommend most is to drive to their next concert and fully enjoy them live.
