I have the Canon 24-105mm F2.8 and this is kind of crazy to see. It's half the price and 2/3rds of the weight. The IQ looks incredible too. Canon will never let this come to the RF mount, lol.
@@omarknowsphotos lol they definitely won’t. I’ve heard from someone that canon doesn’t have plans for full frame third party for a couple of years. Not sure if I believe that but then again it’s been SIX YEARS since they started the RF system and they’re still holding out.
@@ChrisM-yq2pq RF system is pricey but they definitely have the least expensive full frame options on the market. I feel like everything in general has just gotten more expensive over the last 5 years. It's very lame 😔
Killer! You really brought us comprehensively through all of it! If I was a Sony guy, this might be the one lens I'd use for a bunch of stuff! Love the minimum focus distance too. Thanks for this overview of this killer lens!
@@AsparagusVideo lol I had it on there already for a cine lenses and wanted to see how it would work with the zoom. Actually, pretty smooth compared to my hand. Thanks for commenting on the only thing in the video that wasn’t discussed 😅
I live in Seoul, South Korea. I went to a camera shop I "trust" and tried out this lens. One of the shop assistants told me to get the GMII over this lens. I asked why. He said, "Sigma is Sigma..." I didn't understand what he meant by that. After trying the lens, I didn't see any problems with it. I'm a photographer first, so a lens like this suits all my needs. Have you tried the Sigma 35 1.4? What do you think?
I think it's more to color, GMII and sigma both have a slight different color. So it will depends on your preference. But one thing for sure, sigma is good, can compete with either G series or even GM series from Sony
And yet the Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 is a better lens for the price :D The major key factor here is with this lens you still need a wide angle and a telephoto if you want the full range from 16mm to 200mm-ish. On the other hand with the Tamron you just need a wide angle 16-35mm and you got your range rom 16-150mm, plus you got a 35 F2 prime as a bonus. This lens would have been a game changer if it would be a 20-105mm f2.8 or a 20-85mm f2.8, because you can get away with 20mm as a wide lens and pair it with a telephoto. I really hope Sony or Tamron will drop a 20-85 or a 24-105 f2.8 soon similar range what Leica has with their 24-90mm.
@@g_lantos yeah I’m not calling it a game changer but it is a super quality lens that Sony doesn’t have. Thanks for watching and thanks for your knowledge!
@@thewalkingparadox5523 thanks so much. I think with a cage it would be fine, without one it would seem a lot bigger I’m sure. But the lenses make the photos, that’s what I base everything off of.
I honestly watch your gear reviews more for your photography than gear, but you've actually piqued my interest with this lens. But boy do I wish it went down to 24mm, 28mm is juuuust not wide enough sometimes! This paired with a 16-28 or 17-28 would be great.
Thank you so much for that and honestly I try my best to provide good sample images for real world application. I agree, I wish it was 24mm as well, but what can ya do! Thanks so much for your kind words and watching.
