I might be on of the only ones, but I have the Sony 24-70 GM II, and I use the 24mm range a lot. I've noticed I use the standard ranges 24, 35-50, and 70 mm. That's not really correct as f2.8 on APS-C is equivalent to f4 on full frame, so it's really like a 25-105/4 which all brands already have. You have to apply the crop factor to the aperture too. There's a reason why the Tamron is only half the weight compared to the Sigma.
I have it myself for Fuji btw and I love it, but I also know what I'm giving up compared to a full frame 2.8.

The thing is a bazooka… I decided to switch from my Sony A7iii to a Fuji x-t20 because of the smaller and great glassed available for the X mount. I’m an amateur photographer though, this is a great all around lens for a pro for sure.
I’m happy with my decision for a smaller footprint, bout the 18-55mm f2.8-4 (best kit lens ever made for any system) 7artizans 35mm f1.4, and couple of vintage teles, super Takumar 135mm f2.5 and 200mm f4. Probably those 3 primes takes less space in the bag than this Sigma.

Yes, but because of the crop factor, it will be an equivalent 42-157mm lens. So it would not be a good choice as a main lens since you would not have a wide angle of view. For an all-around lens, the Sigma 18-50mm or Tamron 17-70mm would be better suited to your camera.

Sigma making a half assed Canon version of a lens is surprising? :) They have been doing that for decades, they are literally a cheaper/lower quality Canon alternative, but of course most people heard about cameras existing in the last 5-6 years and they think that Sigma is just magically cheaper :)

I’m not down with it. I’m so consistently reaching for my Tammy 28-75, I kind of feel sorry for my 5 other lenses that don’t receive near the love. But if I can get another 30mm on the long end, kind of “for free,” I was curious to learn more about this new attractive stranger in town.
But that seems like enough extra size and weight that it’s probably not worth the added 30mm. Especially mounted on a 43MB a7Riii, such that I’ve got some solid cropping options, making my 28-75 feel longer than it is.

If you're looking for a lens that you can take with you everywhere, anything over 500g doesn't make sense to buy - unless photography is your livelihood. I have a Sony A7C paired with a Sony 55mm 1.8 Zeiss and that's about the maximum I can carry. When I don't want to carry equipment with me, I just use my cell phone for convenience. Anything beyond that loses its meaning and only extinguishes the desire for photography.
