I’ll also be rereading the Way of Kings this month! I’ve only read the Way of Kings, and that was over ten years ago lol.
Flying through Wisdom Of Crowds for the first time currently. Wow, I don't want it to end!
I'll be reading more Guy Gavriel Kay, Christopher Ruocchio and Janny Wurts at the very least. Might pick up another Crime or Western book. Been craving some Horror too.
Currently reading Ashes of man….and it’s just so good….like you kingdoms of death is my fave so far…..brutal but brilliant.
I'm reading that too! (Thx to Matt! 😂 )
Lots of rereads!!! For the TBR I put soooo many 5 stars smh 🤦♂. I love all the books so much I just couldn't pick lower than 5 stars. Felt like an insult to these books to put them any lower haha 😂
I've played your tbr game a few times. I am NOT good at guessing what you think of books. Lol.
I'm gonna be reading Wisdom of Crowds in June, too. It's my first time reading it, though. The audiobooks are excellent for that series. I don't regret reading them in audio format.
you actually gave Red Country a 4,5!
I hated The Ninth Rain, it felt a little too YA for me personally. Angsty 1000 year old vampires or whatever just not my thing. Predict a 1/5 for you lol.
Oooh, I wondered. It hasn't been on my list cuz I expected it to be pretty YA.
The Wisdom of Crowds is Abercrombie's best book I think ! :D
I'm currently reading it and so far I've found it to be incredibly boring. Several chapters just blah blah blah about the Great Change. Hoping it picks up soon.
@@hyrumtanner5584 It's depresive First 200-300 pages but it gets much better and it's a fiting conclussion to the entire First Law World imho.
Agree
I'm 160 pages in. The Trouble with Peace was absolutely amazing, my 2nd favorite read of the year behind of course Lonesome Dove.
@@PsilocybeJedi Get ready for the 2nd part of WOC,the goat but yeah TTWP is really good!!! 😁
I’m rereading the Way of Kings as well. I forgot how much I enjoy it.
I’m excited for rereads of Stormlight and Powder Mage!
Whoa! Congratulations, Winners!! 🎉🎉🎉
I predict Mistborn will be a 3.
I think the twists really uphold the story during the first read. Going back to it I realized all of the side characters are more interesting than the main protagonist.
I love you Matt, but saying you don`t get an extra layer of nuggets rereading ASOIAF is the single most dumb thing ive heard you say :p Just on a plot level the pure level of foreshadowing of the red wedding is miles ahead of what Sanderson does. Tywin scribbling the letter in Tyrions presence which you can only really get on a reread. So many character decisions have ripples that are so inevitably obvious on rereads.
Lol, fair point. I should have really focused on books 4/5, that's where I see that problem more distinctly in that series.
Regardless, the foreshadowing is FAR lower than a writer who plans things out in far more detail.
And it's not first of the month, but the video is good
In reference to audiobook narrators- I'm curious (as I can't recall hearing you about ever talking about it) have you listened to The Dresden Files? Because James Masters does a Master-full job...eh...eh see what I did there!....sorry
Yeah I have, he is amazing. I didn't like th content of Dresden much, but I ended up reading like 10 books mostly because of the audio narration!
@@MattsFantasyBookReviewsthanks for the response and good to know! I do get a kick out of Dresden but I totally get it 😅 I haven't listened to any but he has done a couple of other narration though if you every want those sultry tones of Masters (mostly classics and he also did the series 'Vampire Empire' apparently)
Did shogun get pushed to next month??
Starting it this month, finishing next. It's a big boi!
When in Shogun?
Starting this month, finishing next. It's a big boi
Matt, not trying to be rude and just out of curiosity, with so many books that you still haven't read, why spend all that time doing rereads?
I think he's re-reading Stormlight in preparation for book #5.
Most of my rereads are in audiobooks since my TBR pile for those is super thin. The huge TBR pile I have is my physical book pile.
Besides that, there's some series I really can't stop thinking about and look forward to reading books I already know I'm going to love. Plus, some series just beg for a reread due to the different experience you get with the foreshadowing you pick up on.
@@MattsFantasyBookReviews Thanks for the reply!
@@jessezigg Stormlight 5 is done😍
I have to HARD disagree about the point regarding George RR Martin not leaving any hidden nuggets in his stories… Martin has far far more hidden nuggets in his story than any author I’ve ever read and I’d be willing to bet more than any author ever published. His nuggets are just a lot more subtle so you may have missed them. I find you really have to slow your reading pace and pay a lot of attention to catch them all.
Is it a reread type of thing?
I’m sorry but your comment on GRRM is preposterous. Especially when comparing to Sanderson.
