Success is borderline subjective as a artist no matter the medium, but having something succeed in society that you truly worked on with everything you have… I don’t think there are many feelings that will top this one for him. He’s lucky to be able to experience that I am happy for him. He deserves it 100%. The beautiful thing to me is had he not spent his time on working and raising his daughter the book would have possibly not been a success so there's a beautiful silver lining to the fact that he couldn't just pursue his book and didn't abandon responsibilities.

That’s what I call commitment. Even though he knew he wouldn’t have that many sales (let alone a few), he was still committed to finishing the book to get it published. It doesn’t matter if not a lot of people buy it, but what truly matters, is that you are proud with the final result.
