Read the walking dead comics! The Walking Dead comics are hands down the most compelling of the comics. I warn you though once you start reading you cant stop!
I've been a patron at Forbidden Planet for over twenty years, and this video captures pretty much everything I love about the store. It's a totally different market than it was when FP took up the much larger storefront across the street, but you still get a huge influx of customers into that store. The whole thing is an experience; you can wander in looking for one issue and leave with a hundred bucks worth of stuff. I know; I seem to do this weekly.
We need a rocketboom Australia! (I know Ella has been to Sydney to interview Natalie Tran) Because I only recently found The Daily Planet in Brisbane, and there are so many little places that would do a lot better thanks to series like these.
Forbidden Planet is just badass, honestly...I've been to the London branch multiple times and always, always end up coming out with something. *Sudden urge to spend!*
My fondest memories of childhood were reading TINTIN or ASTERIX under a very comfortable blanket burrowed in the corner of my room. Thumbsucking was optional then - I wonder if they would allow me to bring my blanket (and thumb) into the FP store...lol... Perhaps I can start a new 'fad' for adults...
@TwoThirdsMajority I like stuff by Adrian Tomine. Scott Pilgrim is pretty kick-ass. And since I was obsessed with the show, I checked out the new X-Files comics when I was at the store.
Hello Ella, I know you like "The X-Files", I watched it all the time as well, I see you found the Graphic novel. That show was brilliant, but do you remember "Millennium"?, From the same creator. Now that was the best show ever, Definitely not for the faint of heart. It was a very Dark and violent show, only last for 3 seasons but it was awesome!!
I've been in the nearest FB to me once, and as a geek, even I'm not sure how comfortable I felt going in there. It sort of felt like if I were caught in there, it'd be as bad if not worse as being caught in an adult video store.
Ok during a recent promo on the old channel I stated that I wouldn't watch and support the channel split I did this for various reasons, mainly because I knew a channel split would negatively effect Rocketboom NYC views (which it has) But upon seeing how much lower this channel was compared to the others I felt like it needed help and though I still don't agree I will stop my boycott :)
@Ottawa3453 Well, half of Sydney's population are migrants or the children of migrants, so the accent tends to neutralise. Until this past year, most of those migrants came from England, Ireland and New Zealand, and our TV is predominantly American and English. We're constantly being bombarded by an incredible array of accents.
Is is just me or is it a bit sad that out of the whole of NYC they decide to feature a shop that can be found in pretty much every city across america? I'm a geek my self but I am sure there are more interesting things in NYC, things I can not see in my own city.

Forbidden Planet was one of the best SciFi movies from the fifties. It was ahead of its time.

I always try to get by there whenever I get up to NYC, great little place.
Very informative! I liked the point he made about photography. not being the end of paintngs.

Best... Rocketboom... Ever...
Ella, you are ON my LIST!
(I think you know which list I mean)
Forbidden Planet is just badass, honestly...I've been to the London branch multiple times and always, always end up coming out with something. *Sudden urge to spend!*
I loooooooove Forbidden Planet, but it's in a neighborhood so far away from me that I practically never go there. But it's really really cool.
I want to plan a vacation around going to that store now.
awww i would kill to live there! i live in outer london and there isnt a single comic book store near us anywhere!
reading the paper version is more appealing then the digital version just the feel of the paper makes a difference
There's one in Cambridge too, I used to buy Yu-Gi-Oh cards from there.
cool, i didn't know there was a Forbidden planet in NY, looks a lot like the FP we have here in dublin.
Great video, Ella! :)
When I go to NY I always visit the store but its always so crowded.
I'll have to stop at this place next time I'm in the city.

@Ottawa3453 Having known Ella in Oz, I can tell you she hasn't modified her accent very much. Like many Sydneians, she has a very neutral accent.
@M1995C It's a good place for beginners. The staff will ask you about your interests and then recommend some comics and graphic novels for you.
@TwoThirdsMajority I like stuff by Adrian Tomine. Scott Pilgrim is pretty kick-ass. And since I was obsessed with the show, I checked out the new X-Files comics when I was at the store.

@Stain0 Correct!
i have been here!
The Thumbnail to the video looked like Kirsten Dunst at the coming shop
Kinda resembles Kirsten Dunst on one of Miss Dunst's better days. The Rocketboomers are excellent in general.
0:17 Ella makes a quick visual joke with Mary Jane Watson, but it is obvious that she is very much look-alike Kirsten Dunst.
@Raphtyr Cool didn't know Sydneians sounded so close to the English.
She looks like Mary Jane from Toby Maguires spiderman from a side angle
we have one in london
@Raphtyr Ooh, you knew me back home? Now I'm wondering who you are!
@JoeDull I know... are they available online?

Ella you are the prettiest red hair girl i ever seen. Your vids are fantastic.
0:15 Ella looks like she could be a comic book heroine or femme fatale.
Yes she's Australian, but she softened down her accent for your enjoyment! Personally I'd rather hear her authentic Australian accent ;)
@RaccoonCamp My name is Ella, but I appreciate the sentiments.

@OneEyeJay Yes, I remember Millennium! They had a crossover episode once. The one where Mulder and Scully kissed on New Year's Eve. (NERD ALERT.)
At first glance I thought she was Kirsten Dunst. And also the X-Files rules.
@RaccoonCamp I love you too, Cocoon.
I want an iDoohickey!
If it is forbidden, why do I have such a desire to go there?
Do the sell japanese love dolls?
@Yoshikuni14 I won't. I may be from a penal colony, but I'm non-violent.
