"I wish to lie where a mother's prayer And a sister's tear will mingle there. Where friends can come and weep o'er me. O bury me not on the lone prairie." "For there's another whose tears will shed. For the one who lies in a prairie bed. It breaks me heart to think of her now, She has curled these locks, she has kissed this brow."
"It matters not, I've been told, Where the body lies when the heart grows cold Yet grant, o grant, this wish to me O bury me not on the lone prairie." "I've always wished to be laid when I died In a little churchyard on the green hillside By my father's grave, there let me be, O bury me not on the lone prairie."
To this day, it's a gutsy and rare thing to kill your protagonist, especially in a game like this that, like the GTA games, doesn't truly "end". You knew once Martson was reunited with his family, something terrible was coming, but I thought it would likely be his son getting killed, or maybe BOTH his wife and son.
@bl3mc Yea. I agree. This song fits the ending of John Marston in a weird way that it doesn't fit at all. I mean, John Marston didn't die on a lone prairie but had his wife and son to mourn him at his death and was eventually buried next to his wife. To me, it was the only redemption John Marston had in all his tragic life. Great story.
When I heard this on RDR, when it played the clip of John's grave - I was really sad. However, now I kind of like this song! Don't ask me why! Lol!! RDR is a great game and can not wait for RD: Rebellion!
uhhg im so conflicted cause i want there to be another game, another red dead, however i dont want there to be because this game was already epic enough to be worth many games in my opinion.....this entire game was put together so perfectly it was amazing...
Red Dead Redemption was seriously one of the best videogames i've ever played. It was so much fun, and when the end came, I was shocked and liek.... what the fuck do i do know?!?!?!? Its no fun anymore. Jack's not John. I like the fact that theres Zombies, thats just funny :) Great Game
John Died in vein why Jack why didnt you just do what your dad told you he did all that to save you so u wont become like him. John Marston Well never forget you.
@karatehunden u can enventually kill ross afterwards at the blackwater station its a stranger mission u also get a chance to kill his wife and his brother and i did.....hope this gave u redemption;)
I never understood why they had this track in the game. They sing about not wanting to be buried on the lone prairie, as we look down at someone buried... well... on a lone prairie :/
One of the most amazing soundtracks I've ever heard in a game. Almost cried when this (and also "Compass) played.
Love this song! Gameplay very good. Story very good too. R.I.P John Marston

It's always so emotional when the maincharacter dies by an army at the end like John and Jack from FF7
Who carefully aimed for the FBI agents and avoided the U.S army?
I looked for Edgar but I only got one
"Blessed are the peacemakers." - John Marston

R.I.P John Marston 😪😪😪
@HenseStudioz But.. they didn't even have the whole song in the game, so we didn't get the full message :/
@ninjaian Yeah, which is clear when you hear the entire piece. But in the game you only hear a fraction, and I personally found that jarring :/
@flaboy2013 Woops yea :S
Jack/Zack. Gets confusing in the long run :P
Edgar Ross came and gave this song thumbs down. Awesome game, great OST... I feel like playing Red Dead Redemption again.
@1989iw yep
@MooseHeadMoosic why not?
@Darklarik dang I should have did this, as the fbi agents forced the captain to make the attack.
I never understood why they had this track in the game.
