Seeing this after a 4-year long distance relationship in which my ex-girlfriend cheated on me and was with someone else and as soon as I found out I wished her the worst for all the damage she did to me many times and how good I was with her and today I I find out that her boyfriend (the one never talked about to me) died and that it is real that she suffers from heart failure, I feel bad for the boy but for her... Honestly, I don't think Light was ever correct. Misa mentions that he killed her parents' murderer, which is debatable in its incorrectness given your opinion on the death penalty at large, but it's also mentioned that he was never convicted. Yes, I'm sure he actually did kill them as Misa said, but I'm also sure that also means that other people who were never convicted shared the same fate, and I'm sure some of them were innocent too. I'm sure he ended up killing many innocent people. And beyond that he is willing to murder people who don't fit his criteria for judgment, L, Raye, Naomi, he even considered sacrificing Matsuda with the eye deal. That's not to say L was ever in the right either, I mean, he sacrificed Lind L Taylor, tortured Misa Amane, and put Light in jail. (I guess at the end of the day it comes back to my empathetic feelings to people and me not believing anyone inherently deserves to die)
Would you say the life of Naomi or anyone innocent lost in the process has a more worthy life than all of the lives Light has saved by the end of the series by stopping wars almost all crime etc. ?

I don't think you can balance out the murder of thousands for "world peace" In the context of real life this simply wouldn't happen, people will never stop murdering people, the threat of the death penalty doesn't stop people and neither would Kira. Major crimes will still go unsolved (even more so since he killed the world's best detective), there's no conceivable way Kira could stop wars. If he threatened the life of a world leader people would explode. And even in the context of the show, in the idealism dream that he really did stop crimes and wars, is that a good thing? I mean, yes killing people is bad, it's good that that would stop. But what about people who steal because they are starving? The system is against them and yet Kira would still end their life because he doesn't care. Japan is super strict on drugs, think about all the African Americans in jail right now on marijuana charges? He wouldn't spare them. Is it really peace when the only thing stopping people is the overwhelming fear of death?
