What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the Canon M50 is helpful. Did you like it? Was there too much detail? Not enough? What did you like, and also, what did you not like? What would you like to see more of? Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏 Finally we have a mirrorless camera from Canon with 4K, good image and video quality, amazing auto-focus, external mic input. Let me know what you think!!
I will make sure to keep doing that. It's great to see that these videos are valuable (they take a lot of work). You don't like unboxing videos at all? I did a live unboxing of the M50 because some people said that I skip that part in the review and they like to see how the product is packaged.
I just recently started shooting with a canon M50 and Iphone 8. Im using a Zhyiun Plus gimbal for most of my shots (i do a lot of running). Im just now starting to learn about "camera" stuff, andI think the M50 works well for me. (autofocus, lightweight, flip out screen).
Thank you so much for the kind words :) I hope that the video was helpful. I'm still very new, so if people enjoy and share my videos, and if my videos provide value, the channel will grow.
Best camera reviewer. And he’s one of the only one who actually reads and responds to the comments.. I won’t subscribe to anyone who doesn’t think the commenters are important enough to communicate with them.
So glad it was helpful! Welcome to the channel! Check out part 1 and 2 if you're going to do video: Part 1: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html Part 2: ruclips.net/video/jsmaRS0cyYQ/видео.html Some good lens options: ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html Hope this helps
Congrats Tony!! Let me know if you have any questions. Here is a followup you might find interesting: ruclips.net/video/0zB0pNvauxw/видео.html Thanks for the feedback!
I seen quite a few videos related with the canon camera. I must say, this is the best video with every single detail that I couldn't even think of. I decided today to buy the camera, massive thanks!
I have followed many camera reviews, but reviewing your videos in particular was the main reason for my decision to purchase the Canon M50. Thanks for this rich and helpful review to me like & subscribe
Wow!. My first Tech Gear Talk video viewing and what a great hands on real life experience with the different facets of the M50. A most thorough review showing actual usage of both video and still photos, not just boring specs. I found myself subscribing to your channel in the middle of the video. Cannot wait to explore some more of your reviews and hands on videos. I don't know where you have been hiding but am so glad I discovered your channel. Great job.
Wow Mike... thank you so much. I'm really happy that the review was helpful. I'm still starting out and need to put out more content. Working on it and appreciate the support!
While not a perfect mirrorless camera, thanks to reviews like yours and others, more and more people in the photographic community are waking up to just how good the M50 is, considering its bargain price. I wish you well in your YT video endeavors as you build your subscriber base. With your presentation style, I have no doubt you will do well. Thx again for taking the time to make this video and also, for interacting with your user base. Out here in video land, we love those vloggers who (A) research and use their product before filming and (B) care enough to respond to commentary about their productions.
I completely agree with you. This camera (like every other one) is not perfect, but I always look at a product in terms of value. Thank you also for the kind words about my videos. I really hope to create content that helps people make a decision before they spend money. If you have some time and you're interested in Rode microphones, I would appreciate some feedback on this Rode Videomic comparison: ruclips.net/video/hE84RCziiv8/видео.html Thank you again for the support!
You really look like Ross from friends :D Kind of cool actually. Anyways, i wanna get this cam or the X-T20, which has better 4k ;p I wonder what to buy.. hmm ;p Even after the video.. im not sure lol.
Vacation videos, sometimes just videos of random things and parts of my or other cities :P Because it can also make lovely pictures, not just video P.s. I just noticed the comments, no wonder you get it alot, you 2 could/can be brothers ;p
Both are really good cameras and will serve you well. The Canon is newer and might have slightly better low-light performance and great auto-focus for video The Fuji is an excellent camera and will take fantastic photos. you would love it. You happened to pick 2 cameras that I really like so it's hard. Fuji has better lenses for their mirrorless cameras at this time (you could get an adapter for the M50 and use EF and EF-S lenses)
I don't suppose you remember what type of lens you were using when you shot the video of your pooch? Pretty amazing for an entry-level camera. Was it the kit lens or did you move up a bit? Thanks
Wow are you serious right now? I'm between the M6 and the M50 right now, and I subbed to your channel after watching your comprehensive M6 review. 😂👌 This video is actually perfect. Just what I needed.
Tech Gear Talk I plan on shooting video mostly, I want to make RUclips videos and short films! I've heard mirrorless cameras are better for video than DSLRs. Otherwise I would go with the sl2 because you don't need an adapter to use EF lenses. What do you think? Is the video quality of the M50 worth the extra money I will spend on the Canon lens adapter to us EF and EF-S lenses?
I don't know that I agree that mirrorless cameras are better. They are smaller and more portable. I really liked the SL2. EF and EF-S lenses and it's still pretty small. Honestly, both will do a good job for you.
I'm so glad to hear that James! Welcome to the community! Here are a few more: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
I'm so glad the video was helpful Bret. Definitely let me know how the M50 works out for you. Which lens/es are you getting? Thanks for joining the channel!
@@TechGearTalk I am in South Africa and they are running a deal with two lenses - the 15mm-45mm and the 55mm-200mm. Is that best for starting out with flatlay food stills and settingshots. not anything too wide, but close ups of plates, food, drinks, people at the bar etc. Are these lenses the right choice?
The sensor is very similar so that won't make a huge difference. It will have a newer processor but the SL2 can use better lenses without needing an adapter. How important is the size for you? The M50 is smaller and more portable.
Excellent review, I look forward to your next live video as well. Glad to see that the app gives full control of the camera. One question, can the camera be powered by an external source such as ac adapter or usb?
Thanks!!! I was excited about the full control with the app as well. I couldn't figure out any way to power the camera with an external source :( Another oversight by Canon.
I am in the market for a new Camera and have been looking at the Canon M50 but somewhat undecided. This is by far the best review of the M50 that I have seen... it answer a bunch of questions and quiet frankly helped me finalize my decision. Very awesome and informative review
I know it's hard for u to answer each and every comment, but I will give it a try to ask u something,is that camera good for food photography? Also What other cameras u recommend under 1000$ for food photography? Thanks
Yes, this camera will work for food photography. What’s great is that you can put it on a tripod, flip the screen so you can see it, and remotely trigger it from the app. So you can are focus on staging the food and lighting and not have to touch the camera at all. If you need lenses beyond the ef-m line, get an adapter and then you can use any ef and ef-s mount lens. Hope this helps.
I have watched a lot of videos about different cameras, and yours are by far the best. Straightforward and informative. I liked everything about this presentation, and will be getting an M50.
Ok, the M50 is a better all around option than the G7XMKii. It will give you better quality images and video and will allow you to have interchangeable lenses and external audio. Now, I absolutely also love the g7x mk ii so it's also a great camera. It's even smaller and you can take it with you anywhere. So it comes down to what's most important to you. What do you think? Watch this video and substitute the M50 for the M6 (The M50 is even better than the M6) ruclips.net/video/U5YQ0H3IGN0/видео.html
The crop factor information in this video is extremely useful to someone like me that has not taken a photography class in 15 years. Thank you for including it.
Well, thank you so much for this video, I purchased through your link because of your review. I initially bought the G7X Mark II and was so excited until I found out I couldn't use the Canon Camera Connect app with video. You were the person who finally confirmed for me that it's not possible with that model so I returned it and purchased this one!
I just got this camera tonight for my birthday and it’s my 1st real camera 📷 I’ve been filming my channel on my iPhone SE so I’m so excited to learn how it works! Thank you for this video 👍🏼
Hi Kara, you're very welcome. Glad the video was helpful. Congrats on the new camera! This will be so much better than the SE (which is good for a phone, but this is a whole new ballgame). That autofocus is going to be killer. Let me know about your experience.
Tech Gear Talk I will for sure and I want to keep learning from your channel. Hopefully soon everyone will see a huge difference in my videos on my channel from the phone to this amazing camera! So excited 👍🏼🙂
I've spent the last weeks checking a nice camera for my budget, mainly a camera for video and this review just helped me to take a decision, I'm ordering my M50 on Thursday!
So glad I was able to help! Thanks for joining and supporting the channel! Check out these lenses for when you’re ready ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html
Yesterday, I went out and took a test drive of this. Immediately fell in love with it. Pretty much has all of the features I could want. My only caveat is the electronic viewfinder could take some getting used to.
It's definitely a change coming from an optical viewfinder, but you do get used to it. You did one of the smartest thing you can do by ACTUALLY going to look, hold and use the camera - rather than just looking at specs. What are some other cameras you're considering?
@@TechGearTalk I was also looking at the Sony A6400. On paper, the specs are great, but holding it in my hands, it just felt a little awkward and accessing certain options didn't feel very intuitive. What I really appreciate about Canon are the ergonomics and the controls tend to not be as overwhelming. What the reviews don't tell you is the M50 is actually quite small and while not a perfect fit, seems like it can fit in a sweater pocket at the very least. Thank you for the constructive reply!
You're very welcome. I really try to tell people that it's important to actually use the camera because the specs don't tell you everything you need to know. Like you, I am a huge fan of Canon ergonomics and believe it makes a huge difference in terms of user experience.
I just bought my M50 and I love it. Sold my 7D mark ii and not looking back. I cannot wait for Canon's full frame mirrorless to drop later this year once it is announced at Photokina.
Very nice and by far the best review of all cameras. I liked that you didn’t bother by making any dumb jokes or fake ‘cool dude’ attitude of other so called reviewers. They are all show and no substance. But you my friend present a clean, crisp, succinct and informative review. Well done and thanx
This is the best N59 review ive seen.Nobody explained the mobile app feature and some othe features like u did.I think ive made the right decision to buy this camera. Thanks a bunch ❤️
I have been watching reviews on the M50 for weeks, as I am considering purchasing it. I can honestly say that this is the BEST review on RUclips right now for the M50. So much information in this video that all other videos failed to mention. I had no idea that you could work the camera on video mode from the app until watching your video! Overall, great video. Helped me out so much. Subscribed and liked!
Hi Allison, thank you so much for the kind comment. I'm really glad that the review was helpful! Super happy that you found out about the app, that's killer right? Are you using it for your channel?
It's my birthday day after tomorrow. That is on the 8th .... I have always wanted a camera of my own but my parents never approved. And now that I'm turning 24, my dream of getting one since i was 15yrs old, is finally coming true. I was so confused about which to buy as my boyfriend suggested nikon d5600 and sister suggested a canon 200d.... And i wasnt sure about either of the choices... Seeing this video of you and also the comparison video, my mind has finally cleared. I'm gonna choose this one 😍 THANK YOU FOR MAKING AMAZING CONTENT. MUCH LOVE AND SUPPORT TO YOU FROM INDIA ❤️
Happy early birthday Tanvi! I'm so happy the videos were helpful and congratulations about making a decision! Let me know how it works out for you once you get it! Appreciate the support!
After watching your review on this Camera I literally change my mind buying the Sony A6400 and I did order right away from the Excellent photos website. Thank you Zaki jan
Just got my M50 today and I'm really excited. Enjoyed watching the video and im grateful for your channel. very helpful Subbed, lots of love from Kenya
Great video/review! You helped cement my justification in buying the M50! I have been a Canon fan since the F-1 and FTb days! When I read about the M50 on the internet, I was skeptical. The more I mined information about it, the more I was in disbelief! I found short unboxing and reviews (under 10 minutes) then I saw this review come up. At 26:56, I just knew there had to be information I was missing. You supplied it! You have made me feel quite comfortable with my purchase! Thank you!
been using the M50 for about 3 months now. I really enjoy how small it is. Battery life isn't great but that is to be expected with the size of it. The 4k crop is kind of a bummer but not a deal breaker. The dual pixel AF is awesome though!! makes up for everything else. Great review!!
Thanks so much Adam. Totally agree. DPAF is killer - best I've seen. Crop factor and lack of DPAF at 4K is a bummer, but come on, at this price point? Battery - gotta have at least 2 :) Thank you so much for leaving feedback and hopefully subscribing!
One of the best reviews I’ve seen on this camera. Please keep them coming. I recently purchased the M50 body and the 22mm 2.0 lens. Coming from a Nikon D600 this camera is a pleasure to travel with. I hope to see more videos in the future from you on some of the features of this camera. Thanks for the info. Keep them coming.
Thank you so much Rob, I really appreciate it! I keep working hard and trying to create as much as possible! Thanks for watching and hopefully subscribing!
You do the BEST review on youtube for all cameras lol they are so in depth and relaxing to watch :)) love the intro by the way!! AND YOU LOOK LIKE ROSS FROM FRIENDSSS!!!
Fantastic video. I've been using my Note 5 for years to document my hikes and have wanted to step up my video quality with no clue what to get. You sold me. I'm getting a M50 and I'll use your link. Thanks again, great video!
So this week, my Mavic Pro broke (gimbal overload) & was shipped to DJI for repair. Then my Panasonic G7 mic input started acting up during my weekend vlog. Thanks for the detailed review on the M50. I’m seriously considering this camera as a replacement while my G7 is out for repair & for future vlogs.
Argh.... rough week. Super sorry to hear. This is a great replacement. The mic input is key to better audio. The only thing is, pick up an extra battery. Have you seen the rumors about the Mavic Pro 2?
Many thanks for your review. I enjoyed it and found it helpful. I have been watching a lot of reviews of the Canon M 50, and am thinking about getting one. I think that there are a few points worth mentioning, in addition to the thorough job that you did. 1. Many reviewers are frustrated, or find it annoying that the mic. input is located where it s, because the 'plug' at the end of the mic. cord (that plugs into the mic. input) means that the top left part of the screen is obscured when flipped around in 'selfie' mode. 2. The camera is not 'sealed' against the effects of dust and rain. 3. Quite a few people have noted that - in comparison to other cameras - the M 50 has relatively few features (e.g., no histograms and the like are included in the camera itself). 4. The Canon adapter (which allows lenses other than Canon EF lenses to be used with the M 50) is very expensive, and there are other, much cheaper alternatives available (see youtube videos).
Those are really good points. Thank you so much for adding them! The M50 does have a histogram (just hit INFO a few times) I'm not really bothered by the location of the mic input. It does block the screen, but it's not usually a portion of the screen I put a subject in. But I get it. Here's the thing for me. I look at every product as a function of its price. What do you think? Is it a good value?
Hi there. I did actually buy the M50 a couple of days ago, and my reactions have been mixed - I actually anticipated that, so at least most disappointments were not a shock. I say "most" because I have been dismayed by the relative lack of sharpness of the kit lens. I know that people have been disappointed in the lens, but I thought that my viewing of lack of sharpness when watching footage of the M50 on youtube was more a function of something other than the lens (I used to be a professional photographer, so I am hyper aware of, and critical of, lack of sharpness). The truth is that the photos I have taken with the M50's kit lens are less sharp than those that my Samsung S4 produces, and I have been shocked by that. I am hoping that the lack of sharpness is due to the inferior quality of the lens, rather than the sensor also being at fault. On the other hand, the stabilization issues that the M50 very definitely has, are not yet that evident to me. Maybe this is because I can hold the M50 steadier than I can hold my mobile. Time will tell. I actually bought the camera as an entry-level way of filming youtube videos, and have not tested the video option fully yet. Initial tests have been alright. I take your point about looking at every product as a function of its price, but - for me, at least - there has to be a secondary criterion of the product being able to perform an adequate job, at the very least. On that score, the Canon is lacking a little in the stills department. On the plus side, I do like the camera's form factor (size and weight), and think that it is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, which is really what I was after at this point. So, overall, I am not going to complain (too much!). There is something endearing about the camera, and I agree with you when you said that this is a positive step in the evolution of APS-C cameras within the Canon line.
I think you're being super fair. You had expectations based on your history and experience. Those may be different than a true beginner, but they are what they are. I shot all my images with the kit lens (I always do that rather than use my L-series glass because that's not really fair to most people). I'm going to go through them again and see what I think. I think you're going to really like it for video, especially the continuous autofocus, but stop by again and let me know how that works out. I can't wait for the full frame camera that is coming out. I really want 1080 @ 120 but I'm not getting my hopes up :D Thank you again for taking the time to update this thread!
Hi! I just purchased my M50 today and your video is by far the most straightforward and thorough review. I just have a question about the lens. Pardon me for my language, but the front part of the lens has a ring that moves. what it it for? Thanks in advance and happy holidays!
Thanks you so much for the kind words 🙏, I'm super glad it was helpful. This is a great camera for the type of content I see you making. I would appreciate you support the channel using the links in the description if that's possible. What are you shooting with now?
I love that. Shows that people can always start with a phone! If you look at the description, there is a link for a 55-200. That's the one you're going to want to pick up for telephoto. I would also consider getting an additional battery if you plan on shooting for longer periods of time. Finally, if you want to improve your audio, check this out: ruclips.net/video/hE84RCziiv8/видео.html I'm always here to help, so let me know if you have any questions.
very informative and convincing review. I dont need to wonder coz you already explained especially on the video frame rate features and lens crop factor which people mostly confused or dont know 👍
Thank you so much for this review. I had watched dozens of videos and reviews on this camera and others, but it was your review that sold me on it. You were very thorough, but straight-forward with the information and your example test footage. Fantastic video!
Thank you Daniel! I couldn't agree more. There is always a "better" camera (or at least one that is better for a certain application). I look at value and features, and what you ACTUALLY NEED! So few people are limited by their equipment.
Your voice and the expression of your eyes is everything😊😊.....i bought this Cam n its amazing...d more m using it the more m liking it ❤❤❤....similar to your videos 😊
Seen a few of these M50 reviews today and this is by far the best, most informative and thorough review very surprised to see such a low subscriber count was expecting 100,000's with content like this. Well you have one more now. You have a lot of comments here but I'll ask this anyway in the hopes that you see this. So I am also a youtuber and looking to upgrade my gear, I like the idea of the M50 features etc. but thrown off by the way everyone says it is an "entry level" camera! I don't want to out grow the camera too fast and want to change all my gear again in another years time, what would you suggest is the next step up from the M50?
Thanks so much for watching and for the feedback! The M50 is. Great camera for RUclips. It provides all of the essentials. Canon doesn’t really have a next step in mirrorless yet, unless you go full frame ruclips.net/video/Y9Caw0Ykd7k/видео.html but that’s a big leap. I normally match it up against the sk2/200d ruclips.net/video/JIb30UZKmkY/видео.html check out those 2 vids and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for the support!
great review, i have the M50 since 2 month. And im very happy with it. I only switch the internal IS off and use only the IS from the lens. The internal in doing a bad job. Greets from Germany Frank 👍🏻😊🎬
Thanks Frank, I super appreciate it. Thanks for the tip, I will test out the difference ASAP. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment (and hopefully the sub)
Love this video. Thank you. Every sentence does its job; every photo or video clip likewise. So very clear and informative and beautifully done. Props!
I’ve literally watched from 7 to 10 reviews on the M50 and your explanation of the 1.6 factor is the most clear to me. I appreciate your comprehensive coverage of the key features.. very well done sir! I’ll be tuning in for more of your reviews! Do you have any recommendations for the best reasonably priced directional mics to video live musician performances? Cheers!
Hi Dan. Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback. I'm glad the explanation was helpful. Let me know if you still have any question about it. Yes, as far as microphones, you should definitely look at: bhpho.to/2HJRKzD (less expensive) and bhpho.to/2HMD3M6 (better but more expensive). I have a video coming out about them soon, but just wanted to give you my 2 cents. Hope that's helpful.
@@TechGearTalk Thanks! Yes I was just reading up on the top Rode mics which includ the two you mentioned! I just ordered the EOS M50 to upgrade from my Nikon D5100 for superior auto focus, ease of use and Canon app to remotely control the settings as I plan to do most of my video work solo. Cheers!

Hey Sagee. That was the most enjoyable and informative video I've seen on the M50. 1 year on, it's still demonstrating that Canon really hit it out of the park with this camera. The more I learn about the M50 and how it stands up to competitors on functionality and price, the more im convinced it's the camera for me. it's late 2019 and would be interested if there is going to be an upgrade to the M50 anytime soon? Your honest and frank product reviews are outstanding. All the best to you and yours. Best regards. Ray and Sue's Travel Channel
I'm so happy the videos are enjoyable and informative. I agree that the M50 represents a very good value. I'm sure there is an upgrade to the M50 (they also released the M6 MK II). When I look at what is coming, I always ask "Do I need it?" Since it will be more expensive, what are the features that provide enough value to ME (specifically) to justify the added cost. I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback (Sagi) 🙏
@@TechGearTalk Hi Sagi. Thanks for coming back. My question was not posed because i have another Canon camera in mind. Rather, it was because i am going to make the purchase decision in a short while and wanted to ensure i didn't buy the M50 just before Canon comes out with an upgrade to the M50 e.g. firmware and/or function improvement (say full 4K and/or improvements on FPS speed options) just after i buy the camera.
Thanks for this great video! I was initially looking into the G7 Mark II but I think I can grow with this camera. I’m not a professional and not trying to be; I just want to take nice vacation pics and no my iPhone is not good enough. I want to move away from auto settings and learn how to use multiple lens. I’m familiar with some manual controls and this camera will allow me to explore and expand what I know and help me improve in areas that still trips me up. The price has gone down on this kit set so I purchase soon. Thanks again.
ThankYou for all the details it is important for me to make an informed decision. I am seriously looking at the M50 to use for my RUclips channel I have watched your comparison of the SL EOS Rebel and this M50. I thank you once again for your help.

Hey, Great job man. This is a very comprehensive review. Keep making such videos. I am a beginner photographer and I am currently shooting using my smartphone camera. I was planning to buy a mirrorless camera and seeing your review, I think M50 is a great option but I’m slightly let down by the battery performance of a mirrorless camera. What do you suggest I should do to be able to shoot for longer using this camera with such not so good battery performance? Buy some extra battery? or anything else?
Thanks to your review (also the everyday dad), I’ll be getting the M50! I’m sure this will do me well in starting my content creation journey. Btw; awesome content, super high quality video, and concise -even if it’s nearly 27 mins.
Glad you liked the review and congrats on making a decision. Appreciate the kind words about the quality 🙏 Good luck with your new journey, let me know if you have any questions!
Photography/videography is almost literally smoke and mirrors to me but I wanted a good, reasonably simple to use camera with more ability than the combination of a action camera and pocket camera we’re using now. Your very informative and understandable presentation in this and other videos was instrumental in making a camera choice. Thank you!
@@TechGearTalk I ordered the camera with the EF-M 15-45 and until I’ve had an opportunity to fiddle around with it a bit I probably won’t get another lens right away. I do anticipate that we’ll end up with an EF-M 55-200 at some point as we do some sailing and other activities where it would be nice to film or photograph distant objects. One of the wide angle options may prove handy as well as I’m also a real estate investor and property manager. Thanks again, Sagi!
Great review! I just purchased the M50 at the end of 2020, and after buying the Sony ZV-1. On paper the ZV-1 seemed like the better choice, but I’ve become something less than pleased with that camera. Debating now to keep the ZV-1 or sell it. I think your reviews are top notch, but you do need to step up your game by getting more computer monitors 😜
Great review! Finally a likeable gentleman without the pretentious high pitched talking and melodrama so visibly common with RUclipsrs now. But I really hoped you would talk about how it performs in low light. Is the video grainy like in iPhoneX or is it very high quality as should be expected from a dedicated camera device? Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for the feedback. I touch on this topic in this followup video: ruclips.net/video/0zB0pNvauxw/видео.html (you'll see samples throughout the entire ISO range). I am also working on a dedicated video for this topic. It's coming soon!
Hii sir.. Thanks for giving useful technical info... Sir I'm planning to buy dis I heard by someone dis camera had focusing issue.. Is it real? It's best for short films making?
What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the Canon M50 is helpful. Did you like it? Was there too much detail? Not enough? What did you like, and also, what did you not like? What would you like to see more of? Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏 Finally we have a mirrorless camera from Canon with 4K, good image and video quality, amazing auto-focus, external mic input. Let me know what you think!!
Glad you liked it!!! It’s worth getting, great little camera. What are you using now?
Tech I just sent you a DM on Instagram
I will make sure to keep doing that. It's great to see that these videos are valuable (they take a lot of work).
You don't like unboxing videos at all? I did a live unboxing of the M50 because some people said that I skip that part in the review and they like to see how the product is packaged.
Ah, I get it. Makes sense. Thank you for the input!
I really like the way you do reviews.
very informative. Thank you so much sir!
This review was flawless. Answered questions that I didn’t even know I had 😅
Thank you so much. I’m glad it was helpful.
What are you shooting with now?
I just recently started shooting with a canon M50 and Iphone 8. Im using a Zhyiun Plus gimbal for most of my shots (i do a lot of running). Im just now starting to learn about "camera" stuff, andI think the M50 works well for me. (autofocus, lightweight, flip out screen).
That's awesome. How is the gimbal working for you?
Yeah, me too LOL
How does this channel not have more subscirbers? the quality is incredible
Thank you so much for the kind words :)
I hope that the video was helpful.
I'm still very new, so if people enjoy and share my videos, and if my videos provide value, the channel will grow.

This review made me change my mind from the Sony a6000 to canon
Glad the video was useful!
I had Sony A6000, hated it. Confused and confusing menu, expensive lenses and no touchscreen. The M50 is streets ahead
Henry Partridge exactly
Spent days researching a6000 vs m50 and this made my decision, actually very helpful, THANK YOU!!! :)
Glad I could help!! Would appreciate if you supported the channel by using the links in the description (if possible)
Thanks for this rich and helpful review to me

I'm so glad I've been able to help. Hope that you enjoy your M50!
If you have some time and you're interested in Rode microphones, I would appreciate some feedback on this Rode Videomic comparison: ruclips.net/video/hE84RCziiv8/видео.html
Thank you again for the support!
Over the next day or so, I will check out your Rode video.
No rush, it's not going anywhere. Grateful for your time.
You really look like Ross from friends :D Kind of cool actually. Anyways, i wanna get this cam or the X-T20, which has better 4k ;p I wonder what to buy.. hmm ;p Even after the video.. im not sure lol.
Ha. I get that a lot.
What will you use it for? What type of videos?
Vacation videos, sometimes just videos of random things and parts of my or other cities :P Because it can also make lovely pictures, not just video
P.s. I just noticed the comments, no wonder you get it alot, you 2 could/can be brothers ;p
Both are really good cameras and will serve you well.
The Canon is newer and might have slightly better low-light performance and great auto-focus for video
The Fuji is an excellent camera and will take fantastic photos. you would love it.
You happened to pick 2 cameras that I really like so it's hard. Fuji has better lenses for their mirrorless cameras at this time (you could get an adapter for the M50 and use EF and EF-S lenses)
My thoughts exactly lol.
Thank you so much!
I would go M50 all the way. No question.
What do you plan on doing with it?
But u know that the 4k video on m50 is heavy cropped? why dont get a sony a6000? (or newer if u want image stabilisation?)
He might not need 4k, I think most people don't need it at this point.
I’ve had this camera for almost a year now, this video really helped me understand the features better
I'm so glad to hear that James! Welcome to the community! Here are a few more: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
You have a real gift in explaining, and I am off to buy the M50 - yours was the final persuasion. So thorough, covered all areas, and thanks again.
You will probably not use the 55-200 for what you are describing.
@@TechGearTalk what is that lens for? Is it worth getting?
It's a zoom lens for things that are farther away. See this video about lenses: ruclips.net/video/UUPqjPs5Iw8/видео.html
Thank you so much for such a thorough review
You’re very welcome. Hope it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this video! Glad to see Canon took all the feedback into consideration
You are very welcome. Grab that kit ASAP!!! That mic will help you get better audio if you’re not using an external mic.
Tech Gear Talk which would you recommend this or the Sl2.. from a photographer's PoV
What type of photography?
Tech Gear Talk portait, catching candid moments, food and may explore after I get a feel of those
The sensor is very similar so that won't make a huge difference.
I couldn't figure out any way to power the camera with an external source :(
Another oversight by Canon.
Can’t wait to get my Canon M50 on two days! IM SO SIKED! 🔥🚀💜💛
I am in the market for a new Camera and have been looking at the Canon M50 but somewhat undecided. This is by far the best review of the M50 that I have seen... it answer a bunch of questions and quiet frankly helped me finalize my decision. Very awesome and informative review
Super glad I could help Luis - Thanks for being part of the channel!
Woohoo! Cleveland rocks!
Yeah it does!
BOOM! great video thnx alot for this indepth review. Thumbs up.
Thank you so much for watching and the feedback.
This is a nice camera. I wouldn't use it for 4k but it's really nice.
Don't you think this makes the M6 obsolete?
OH man i know nothing about cameras lol so dont know the M6 sorry cant give you a good respons on this without doing research.
oh, don't waste your time. I was just having a dorky conversation :)
Nah man no problem hahahha
I know it's hard for u to answer each and every comment, but I will give it a try to ask u something,is that camera good for food photography? Also
What other cameras u recommend under 1000$ for food photography?
The fact that you have a video for dam near every thing I look up regarding cameras is great
So glad I can help!
I have watched a lot of videos about different cameras, and yours are by far the best. Straightforward and informative. I liked everything about this presentation, and will be getting an M50.
im getting one !!!!
Awesome, congrats!!! What will you use it for?

Do I get the canon g7x Mark ii or the canon m50 for photo and video
Hi. What will you be photography and shooting video of?
Tech Gear Talk I will be shooting vloggings, unboxing etc and just taking simple pictures

Quick overview of the features before getting to the detailed review.
The crop factor information in this video is extremely useful to someone like me that has not taken a photography class in 15 years. Thank you for including it.
Glad that it made sense and was helpful.
Appreciate you watching and the support.
Almost bought the A6400, good thing I came across this review, you are a legend! Thank you! Will be getting my M50 later.
Glad the video was helpful! Let me know how it works out for you and welcome to the channel!
I just got this camera tonight for my birthday and it’s my 1st real camera 📷

Hi Kara, you're very welcome. Glad the video was helpful.
Congrats on the new camera! This will be so much better than the SE (which is good for a phone, but this is a whole new ballgame).
That autofocus is going to be killer.
Let me know about your experience.

Hopefully soon everyone will see a huge difference in my videos on my channel from the phone to this amazing camera! So excited 👍🏼🙂
Glad my channel can be of help.

Same here! I really, really, really hope it has 1080P at 120fps. That would really make my day!
Excellent tutorial. The explanations spoken in clear and easy to understand language. One of the best in this category. Bravo.

That's awesome to hear!! So glad you love it! Such a fun camera.

Battery - gotta have at least 2 :)
Thank you so much for leaving feedback and hopefully subscribing!
i was able to livestream for 1hr with 1 full charged battery with the camera last week. So i'm fairly impressed with that.

Wow! Best review I've seen of the M50 yet. Great job! Thank you.
Oh wow, thanks John! Appreciate it. Let me know if you have any questions.
3. Quite a few people have noted that - in comparison to other cameras - the M 50 has
relatively few features (e.g., no histograms and the like are included in the camera itself).
4. The Canon adapter (which allows lenses other than Canon EF lenses to be used with the
M 50) is very expensive, and there are other, much cheaper alternatives available (see
youtube videos).
Those are really good points. Thank you so much for adding them!
The M50 does have a histogram (just hit INFO a few times)
I'm not really bothered by the location of the mic input.
I really want 1080 @ 120 but I'm not getting my hopes up :D
Thank you again for taking the time to update this thread!
Hi! I just purchased my M50 today and your video is by far the most straightforward and thorough review. I just have a question about the lens. Pardon me for my language, but the front part of the lens has a ring that moves. what it it for? Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

It's wonderful to hear this type of feedback Sarah - thank you. I'm so glad that it was helpful 🙏
I love the way you review the camera.. Thumbs up 👍👍 I love to buy this camera.. Thanks for the reviews...
Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the support!
Cheers!
Congrats Dan!! Those RODE mics make such a huge difference.
Once you get your new camera, swing by and let me know what you think.
Awesome video! My m50 is coming Tuesday and this review Is making me really excited!

Thanks a million!!
You've very welcome - glad I could help.
That makes sense to me.
Best review I have seen on the M50 out of all the others 👌
Thank you so much Darren. I appreciate you taking the time to watch it and to leave feedback.
You can absolutely grow with this camera and it’s a fantastic camera to learn all the settings on!
ThankYou for all the details it is important for me to make an informed decision. I am seriously looking at the M50 to use for my RUclips channel I have watched your comparison of the SL EOS Rebel and this M50. I thank you once again for your help.
I’m super glad the video was helpful.
This video helped me. The kit deal is incredible, in my country it's cost abaut 1000 dollars (only camera)
I'm buying it 👍
Awesome, congrats!! Let me know how it works out for you once you get it.
Iam from india, kerala.
Your language is very cool to understand.
Thanks
I'm glad the video was easy to understand.
@@TechGearTalk iam going to buy a cam. I noted canon 200d, panasonic lumix g7 and canon m50. Which is beter?
Here is a comparison with the 200d and m50: ruclips.net/video/JIb30UZKmkY/видео.html and then image-quality: ruclips.net/video/XEhsU-aEX04/видео.html

That's great to hear Hiram! Appreciate you joining the community!
I am so pissed off right now that I wasted so much time watching OTHER M50 “reviews”.
This review was Immaculately done!!!👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
It’s impressive how in depth you went without once making me feel lost. 🎩’s off
I'm so glad the video was helpful!

Really helpful, Ziggy. Mine came yesterday. Looking forward to learning and using it. Thanks for your reviews.
Congrats Glenn!!! Can't wait to hear how it's working for you. Let me know if you have any questions. Sagi.
Appreciate the kind words about the quality 🙏
Good luck with your new journey, let me know if you have any questions!
I appreciate the way you explained things for the newbie, like me. Great video!
Also love the video examples!
Thank you so much Elena. I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback 🙏
Just ordered the M50 using your affiliate link. Loved your review of the camera and found it very helpful.
I’m so glad it was helpful Charlotte. Appreciate the kind words and you supporting the channel. Thank you for being part of the community.
Great video I just purchased this canon M50. This camera is amazing, thanks for the video very helpful.
Thank you for the kind words, glad it was helpful. Congrats on the new camera!! Which lens/es did you get?
I got the 22 mm and the 15-45 mm
Which lens should I get to zoom in more
I love that 22mm! This is the one to get for more zoom: bhpho.to/2yAm3CS
Photography/videography is almost literally smoke and mirrors to me but I wanted a good, reasonably simple to use camera with more ability than the combination of a action camera and pocket camera we’re using now. Your very informative and understandable presentation in this and other videos was instrumental in making a camera choice. Thank you!
I'm so glad it was helpful. Good luck and let me know how it works out. Which lens/es are you looking at?
@@TechGearTalk I ordered the camera with the EF-M 15-45 and until I’ve had an opportunity to fiddle around with it a bit I probably won’t get another lens right away. I do anticipate that we’ll end up with an EF-M 55-200 at some point as we do some sailing and other activities where it would be nice to film or photograph distant objects. One of the wide angle options may prove handy as well as I’m also a real estate investor and property manager. Thanks again, Sagi!
I think you made a wise choice. I always tell people to get the kit lens because of ruclips.net/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/видео.html
Great info. Seriously thanks!
Used your Amazon link to buy my M50. Thanks again for the info and review
Hi Mike, I'm so glad the video was helpful.
So grateful that you are helping support my channel 🙏
What do you plan on using it for?
I didn’t see an Amazon link... only links for bhphoto... considering making a purchase this week using amazon prime acct...
Thank you. Looking forward to it.
You're very welcome. Trying to do what I can to help.
Hii sir.. Thanks for giving useful technical info... Sir I'm planning to buy dis I heard by someone dis camera had focusing issue.. Is it real? It's best for short films making?
It has no problems focus in 1080P. When you shoot 4K, the auto focus is not great.
