This is my first time watching a video from you and I just wanted to tell you that you are extremely likeable and in my opinion better than a lot of other fotography RUclipsrs, because you actually explain what you are talking about. I love how you they to accomodate all viewers Also your voice is really calming, easy to follow and in general just nice to listen to. So big compliment to you👍
So glad I was able to help. Check out part 1 and 2 if you're going to do video: Part 1: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html Part 2: ruclips.net/video/jsmaRS0cyYQ/видео.html Some good lens options: ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html Hope this helps
My priority is Video 1080p....M50 or SL2 (200D) will be the best between the two ? and also which one gives better battery life ? is there a significant battery life difference between M50 & SL2 . Waiting for your reply . Thanks in Advance
I did an image quality comparison: ruclips.net/video/XEhsU-aEX04/видео.html The battery life on the SL2 is better, especially for images. I pretty much always assume I'll need extra batteries if I plan on shooting video all day. I did this video about the M50 battery: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html There is a similar solution for the SL2. Let me know once you check those out and if you have any other questions.
Bought the M50. Have to say it is horrible with the “out of the box” automatic settings. However, if you take some time to adjust the settings manually, it is brilliant. I love it now and it is producing some great results. As I learn more about it, and have worked on my lighting, my videos are really improving.
I think it’s important to customize it. Here’s my first tutorial ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html glad you got it to the point where it’s working great.
There is no doubt Canon bodies ergonomics are menu system are very user friendly. Why Canon have stopped being innovators is shame. As they were industry leaders espesically video in camera body. Canon have strangled spec and features for the price. I believe Sony A6300, A6500 or fujiflim other better specs in a not so ergonomic bodies. The next issue I have with the M50 is the ego range of M mount lense. Now Canon have EF, M and now R mount lenses. This makes it very expensive to upgrade camera M body to either EF or R mount Canon body.
Super good questions. I don't know why they stopped, but I do know they are paying the price for it. The R mount makes sense if they wanted to upgrade the EF mount which has been around for so many years. But we also have the EF-S mount. So now, EF, EF-S, EF-M and R...sheesh. I end up getting adapters and using the same lenses for all different bodies. The Fuji XT-3 is my favorite camera of 2018.
Great content! I feel like you’ve covered so much already but I’m definitely going to check out the full review too. It seems like a great option for me as I’m looking for an easy camera that can do it all. This seems like the best option on the market right now! Thanks for all this useful info!
Join our M50 Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/canon.eos.m50.group/ Whoops, I said first mirrorless camera and meant Canons first mirrorless camera to offer 4K. Good catch by Northern Dirt. Also the SL2 shoots continuously at 5fps not 6fps. Props to Bobby Kuzmsnov for catching that one. What's up everyone?! I hope this Top 10 Canon M50 video is helpful. I put together a list of the questions I got most often from my detailed review. Did you like it? Did you have any other questions I didn’t answer? Let me know what you think!! I am grateful in advance 🙏
Can you show us what portrait/background blur can look like on the M50. With the lens it comes with but more specifically with the 50mm f/1.8 lens if you have it.
The best camera reviewer on the internet. Believe me. Extremely likeable guy with thorough, detailed reviews and comarisons. Excellent, excellent stuff if you are into photography
i guess im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
Great camera review! I love how hands-on you are to your subscribers, and offer some time to answer their queries. Not all RUclipsrs will do that. Keep it up! and you will gain more subs.. 😊
Thank you so much! I really try to respond and help as much as possible. That's what I hope this community is all about. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave feedback.
I bought M50 few months back for around $750 (USD), since it's expensive in my country, but still paying that amount of money was worth for the features that M50 is providing us
Hey can you please make the video about the clean HDMI out I am thinking about picking this camera up for live podcasting and need to know how to work around it
I have an m50 arriving tomorrow. I have only ever used an iPhone camera which isn’t bad for the occasional selfie in good light, but want to start getting into photography. Dad was always into photos, had underwater housing for scuba diving etc. Don’t want that, but went into jessops and this was the best camera there at my price point. Can’t wait to get it and get started.
CLEVELAND, THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!!! Congrats on getting this camera - hope the video was helpful. Check out today's video about lenses: ruclips.net/video/2J4C_RDEg5Y/видео.html Thank you for being part of and supporting the channel!
This was very helpful! Thanks for actually explaining what different terminology meant before actually answering the question. That really helped me to understand the information better.
As a beginner in youtube vlogging.. Which one to consider sony A6400 or the Canon M50 ?? Factors to consider during vlogging: -Image Stabilization -good mic output -Auto-focus -different level of slow or fast videography -Can i do vlogging with 15-45mm lens? Now let say if I am going for photography, with what lenses should i be going for: -50mm f1.8 STM lens will b a good option?? Do that lens have image stabilization?? Help me in selecting 1 camera.. If any other option available in and around same budget do let me know...
I think the M50 is probably the easiest camera to use for beginners. It has excellent auto focus, super simple menu, fully articulating touch screen. Yes, you can vlog with the 15-45. 50 1.8 is a good portrait lens but not great for landscape. Here are some other videos to watch and compare the m50 and a6400: ruclips.net/video/68CCV_WDIkk/видео.html Another option: ruclips.net/video/nVLe9FPUV7s/видео.html
Great video! Thank you for sharing that information with us. Really useful. I have a question about the picture profile. What picture profile do you recommend for photography? Thank you!
I simply love the way you approach your video topics in a clear unbiased view that's remarkably refreshing! Thank you for doing it so people like me just starting out can decide for myself and you Sir have earned my subs!!!
A few years ago (I think in 2018) I bought Canon EOS M50 and didn't use it that much. Today I want to start creating real estate videos and I remembered that I already have a camara but I don't know whether it's really good or not and I had a few questions that came to my mind such as which gimbal to use, which wide lense do I need and whether or not this camera is good in low light situations. Luckily you answered all these questions of mine so I'll look into it in more detail. Thanks a lot and I'm glad to find a great Israeli RUclipsr who knows his shit.😁
I loved this video! I just got this camera and I love how you go into detail about each question. I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to filming and photography and this was such a helpful video! Keep up the great work!
CONGRATS!!! So glad you like the camera. Check out part 1 and 2 if you're going to do video: Part 1: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html Part 2: ruclips.net/video/jsmaRS0cyYQ/видео.html Some good lens options: ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html Hope this helps
Thank you for breaking things down, and explaining things clearly and even giving examples as you’re doing voice overs! i’m not very tech savy and this camera features are a little more overwhelming then i thought it would be. So for us newbies and beginner like content creators it’s really appreciated. i’m really trying to learn how to produce better video quality on my channel and learn the the features they offer on this camera. Thanks a bunch!!!😇🙂🙂
Tech Gear Talk no prob! & yess!!! That would be super dope! Like maybe a how to tutorial with tips/tricks, and a break down of the features to use for specifically recording good quality videos & vlogging! That would be awesome😊😊😊😊
You got it. Check out this tutorial for now. It’s a different camera but will give you the basics. Let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/RDs-Zzb0pmE/видео.html
I was wondering if I could start and stop recording from my phone...now I know. What mic do you recommend (didn't see a video on it)? I currently use the rode smartlav+ plus mic with adaptor cable...sounds great but not handy when vlogging
Glad the video was helpful. Love the smartlav+ Check out this video for microphone options: ruclips.net/video/hE84RCziiv8/видео.html Let me know if you have any questions - glad to help.
Hi! I just got my Canon M50 and your videos have been very helpful! I did have a question on regarding, which lenses you would recommend for sports photography?
Thank you so much for replaying. I have seen the light. You have clarified in a simple sentence what i needed to know. You have one more faithful follower. I still have to watch all your videos. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video, I have actually just bought a M50 today. And it is my first camera ever i use. I know nothing about camera but I would love to watch more videos of you seeing if I can learn more about M50. Again thanks a lot for the shared video. Cheers
CONGRATS!!! And welcome to the channel. Check out these few videos: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/luYV0dTxoWE/видео.html and if you want to stream: ruclips.net/video/w25dRpbM08w/видео.html Hope they are helpful. If you need longer battery life: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
Seeing that I seem to be going for the M50 kit (with lenses etc.), I need a gimbal and a mic as well, but are there any budget friendly gimbals/cages out there for the M50? Tried googling, and there are quite the options out there... And another thing I seem to be needing, is a backup battery. Is there a separate battery available that works better than the one with the actual camera, or? And lastly, although this isn't really a must, but what monitor would you recommend to an M50? Loads of questions from me this time, but yeah, thanks again for the help!
Hi. Here is a solution to the battery: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html I never use a monitor with the m50 bc of the articulating screen. Here is the gimbal I use with it: geni.us/XVUC Hope this helps
A few more questions... 1) Which one is better for photography m50 or a6400? 2) Is it goof for portraits? 3) is the speee booster worth? Please answer... I'm want to start portrait, lifestyle and nature photography!
Hello I’m new in all this and I just recently purchased my Canon M50 I won’t be blogging my videos will be more for home cooking recipes desserts etc... but I’m having trouble finding the right app to edit my videos, I just want to edit them with good quality good intros and I want to be able to add my watermark in my videos!! Can you please help me by telling me which apps are the best to edit free and bought ones please ? Thank you
please post a detailed comparison between M50 mark ii vs 200d ii. both the cameras are so close to each other that it is very tough to decide which one to buy?
Hey buddy saw ur video now and its just amazing... I have a question to u that i should go for canon 200d mark 2 or m50? I mainly need for my youtube channel i make vlogs ?
Hi, glad you liked it. Here is a comparison: ruclips.net/video/JIb30UZKmkY/видео.html Also, Check out part 1 and 2 since you're going to do video: Part 1: ruclips.net/video/Hj_QrxcsXYg/видео.html Part 2: ruclips.net/video/jsmaRS0cyYQ/видео.html Some good lens options: ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html Hope this helps. Let me know what you think .
If I’m purchasing the M50 as a beginner to photography, which lenses should I have between the EF-M 22mm, EF-M 15-45mm, and EF-M 55-200mm? Does it make sense to have the 15-45mm and 22mm? Just one of them? Is the 55-200mm necessary? Thanks!
I plan to mostly do vlogs, a lot of it will be indoor and two of my biggest concerns are stabilization and the quality I will get shooting in low light. I have never used a a camera other than my phone. Would you pick the M50 or the G7x ii? I would start off with just the camera and probably wouldn’t get much extra gear other than tripods for at least a little while.
I would go with the M50. It's a better camera overall and will position better as you grow and your needs change. For example, you will be able to easily add an external microphone for better audio. The G7XMKII is awesome when you want something super portable to take with you everywhere. Also, as far as low light, (with any camera) plan on adding a light source. Cameras that are "good in low light" are not a replacement for light. The M50 will allow you to get some fast lenses that will definitely help in low-light situations (ex. 32mm f/1.4). Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot for this and your other videos. In the midst of deciding on a camera now and heavily considering the M50. But besides that, I just really enjoy your videos. You get down to the point and do it all in a way that is paced well, straight forward, and actually calming. I find a lot of of other reviewers harder to watch. Keep up the good work!
I'm so glad the videos are useful and easy to watch. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. Grateful to have you as part of this community 🙏
I have a question which is unanswered. Does it have an automatic HDR mode? Or is the FUJI X-T30 better in shooting HDR? Thanks for your help and answer.
I would love to see a comprehensive review of the Viltrox speed booster for the M50. I’ve seen a few reviews out there but they only seem to do a cursory run down on specs. I would love to see how it handles 4K and if there is any loss of sharpness or overall image quality.
I'm going to see what I can do to get that done. Are you talking about this? amzn.to/2Rg32Tr I couldn't find that model on their website, but I might try to get in touch with them.
I'm a real estate agent and am considering buying the m50, I will only be using it for stills and low lighting is sometimes a problem with smaller homes, do you recommend it and can you show some examples of low lighting pics.
I have been researching to buy my first camera as a multimedia journalist who makes a lot of talking head videos for TV interviews as well as social media content. My question is: does M50 (Mk II) produces meaningfuly superior videos compared to our iPhones in our pockets (now in 2022)?
You were clear and direct about everything and it really makes a difference. I'm not left with a question of price or info on any of the things you spoke about. I did so much research trying to find out the right info and you had it covered in a simple video. Thank you.
Thanks for the video, thought it was very informative. I bought the M50 and I’m new to photography. What lens would be best for animal photography? Close up shots / stills mainly
FANTASTIC JOB!!!!!! I’m still looking for a camera to replace my very old canon rebel with only ONE multipurpose lens. Photography is more important to me that video. What would you recommend?
You are very welcome Avinash - I'm so glad they are helpful. Check out this lens video when you get a chance: ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html Hope it's helpful.
Hello, I hope you're still responding to questions here. I just bought my m50 after watching many of your video reviews, for its price mostly. My question for you is, the video stops recording after 50 minutes, like most DSLR's I've looked into. Could you please tell me what's the solution for it to keep recording for a longer amount? Please respond when you get a chance, it'd be really helpful!
I’m a beginner and I’ve watched several of your videos. I’m leaning towards the SL2. After watching this video I haven’t changed my mind. Do you agree?
Great video. Can I plug in the power supply and shoot continuously? Can I use it for streaming such as zoom and RUclips? Can I charge it with a typical battery pack when travel? How long one battery will last when continuously shooting videos? Thanks.
Thank you. 1. yes, but: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html 2. you'll need SparkoCam if you plan on using autofocus 3. No. 4. I don't know, it will depend on features (af, stabilization, lcd on/off, etc.) But that video should remove any battery issues.
QUESTION- Thank you so much for this great video. I'll be checking out the links in the description for your recommendations. New to photography and the M50 and this is a basic question I know. Right now I just have the 15-45mm kit lens and will practice with it. I want to do a lot of close up photography. The set I'm looking at has a description of '49mm Close-Up Filter Set'. Is this correct for this kit lens. Again, this will be fine as a starter for some macro photography. But, I have no idea for sizing. Thank you so much if you have time to answer this.
Hi there. Can you send me a link. I don't know what a 49mm close-up filter set means - never seen it before. To answer your question, it's a matter of how "close" is close up. The kit lens is not a macro lens, so it's not designed for real macro work. You'll need an adapter and a dedicated lens if you want to do macro. Give me a little more info.
Yes, that says that it's for the 15-45mm so it should fit. I never used those so I'm not sure about the quality. If you try them out, please let me know.
I hope so as well. Worse case, it's just a matter of getting a better lens when budget allows for it. Appreciate the kind words and support - I'm here to help.
Thank your for sharing! I have a question: is M50 more suitable for shooting videos than pictures? I would like to use a camera mainly to take photos, could you give me some suggestions on choosing a camera or M50 is good enough for that?
It's definitely good enough. If you want a couple of Canon DSLR options, check out these two: ruclips.net/video/MKwAWWyv9vU/видео.html I also have comparisons for each with the M50 on my channel
@Tech Gear Talk your videos are by far the best camera review videos ever. Thank you for all the hard work that you put into what you do. I am currently looking into buying a camera. I am interested in starting out with still photography especially for travel and landscapes. If i had the extra budget, would you recommend getting the Sony A6400 over the M50? Looking forward to your response. Thank you!
I'm super glad the reviews are helpful and thank you for the kind words. See if this video helps: ruclips.net/video/68CCV_WDIkk/видео.html Let me know if you still have any questions and I'll try my best to help.
I’ve been using this camera for RUclips videos/podcasts & I’ve wondered if there is a way for the video to stop recording every 30 min? I would greatly appreciate feedback! Awesome video!
unfortunately that is a limitation of this camera. Also, there is no clean HDMI output so it's not possible to use an external camera. It's in my wish list for the MK II ruclips.net/video/C8q_dxRvYNo/видео.html
Thanks for the video! Subscribed. 1) I didn't understand what you said about battery. How many hours does the battery last if I was shooting a video in 1080p for RUclips? 2) Also, someone commented that usb charging or cable charging is not possible here. So could you share which cameras have that provision? Also, does this mean that I will have to buy an additional battery plus charger for smooth operation?
Thanks for watching and for joining the community. 1. I don't know exactly how long a single battery lasts because I never shoot a continuous video like that (see rest of comment) 2. That's correct, no USB charging is possible. What can you do? Watch this: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
I am deciding to buy one M50 for Tutorial on music, and this helps me. Thanks in advance, I would like to ask you, On the lense for Guitar acoustic, wish one should I get.
Hi, thank you for posting this. I'm just now interested in this camera for vlogging, streaming fitness videos, and creating pre recorded yoga tutorials. Is the canon m50 good for recording fitness videos? I understand it has pretty good autofocus. Thanks:)
Thank you for this video... I have been camera hunting for sometime now because I’m going to be doing a lot more recording for my channel so and have been doing a lot of researching on cameras 📷 VS camcorders 🎥... Your info on the M50 I found more informational than a lot of the others I seen... But because I will be recording a lot longer my question is... What camcorder it equal to the M50??? Thank you again for the great vid..
That is definitely an advantage of a camcorder. You can look at something like the a6400: ruclips.net/video/38pwAzmtEQ0/видео.html and here is a comparison with the m50: ruclips.net/video/68CCV_WDIkk/видео.html Hope this was helpful!
Thanks for the information! I use the Canon M50 and 55-250mm IS STM for outdoor sports....couldn't be happier for the price. Have you used the Viltrox speedbooster?
Thanks for watching! I have not used the Vitrox speedbooster, but you're the second person in a row who has asked me that, so maybe I need to get my hands on one and see what it can do!
Great video and full of answers, my question is, does it overheat like sony alpha cameras..... I livestream but cannot use my new sony because overheat
Glad it was helpful Rodney. This would not be my first choice for live streaming because it does not have a clean HDMI output. However, there are options: ruclips.net/video/w25dRpbM08w/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/mNrm_8ZRtPo/видео.html (neither cause it to overheat). Question, what Sony camera do you use? It should not be overheating as you are not actually recording. Let me know.
Thank you so much for this video! I am in the process of selling my Nikon DSLR kit to invest in the Canon M50 along with the best lens. I am looking for a lens for the camera that I can shoot high quality sit down makeup tutorials, but also vlog with when I need to. I want clean and sharp video footage, but do not want to compromise depth of field. What lens would you suggest I begin with?
Glad it was helpful. I’m thinking you’ll want either 2 lenses or 1 big lens with an adapter (which would be very heavy to vlog with). The 16 and 30 from this video would do great ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html otherwise it’s the sigma 18-35mm with adapter. Does that at help?
One more question. I use Lightroom 4, but it does not recognize the Canon CR2 RAW format. I believe the M50 has CR3. Do you know if Lightroom 6 (still available) recognizes CR3 (I'm trying to avoid the monthly fee for Lightroom)?
Question. What lens do you use for your close up B-Roll when you show off different products like the camera bodies and lenses? There’s always a really nice boca in the background, so I was just curious.
In the flash section.. What is External flash func.setting. I have purchased 2 speed lights and one I attach them to my M50 and go to that section. I get ( This menu cannot be displayed . Incompatible flash or flash power is turned off. What will be displayed when I finally find a speed light that is compatible. I think I will purchase the canon 470 EX-AI
I am an amateur photographer and i have a serious question. Does sensor size matters when it comes to get better low light performance, more background blur, bokeh effect etc. Will f/3.5 in a large sensor camera do better than f/3.5 in a small sensor camera. Canon M50 kit lens has maximum aperture f/3.5 whereas on the other hand Canon G7x M2 has f/1.8 but i believe the sensor size in M50 is larger than G7x M2. Does the difference in sensor sizes plays a role here?
Great questions and ones that are beyond what I can type here. The short answer is yes, sensor size matters if all other things are constant (aperture, shutter speed, iso, distance to subject)
ok I got a question would your opinion to use the M50 for wild life (birding ) or do I wait for the MK ii ? Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens is what I am thinking of using for this = sadly not in usa so am limited to what I can get
Hi! How to take care of my camera specifically when im not using it. Should i just let its lense attach to its body and the battery all the time?(even when not using or stock)
Terrific video. I love my M50, except for one thing. That front dial spins so easy that I constantly have to check my shutter speed to make sure I haven’t accidentally spun the dial and set it to some undesirable level. I’m eager to see what the next iterations of the M-Series camera bodies will be. More dials, higher bitrates for 1080p video, etc. Fun time to be a camera nerd indeed.
That's interesting. I'm going to pay some more attention to that and see I have the same experience. I completely agree that it's a great time to be a camera nerd. Do you use any other cameras?
@@TechGearTalk Hey brother. I've certainly accidentally spun the dial less now that I'm aware of the problem. But it seems to happen a lot when I'm flipping the camera back and forth to vlog and then reset it in my capture clip on my backpack. I just wish that front dial had the stiffer movement similar to the front dial on the M6. As far as my camera line up that I have to manage between work, church and personal stuff that I do; it is as follows (all Canon): XA10, 80D, M6, M50 #1 M50 #2. Wow...thats a lot of cameras. Keep up the great work! Your vids are always super duper helpful and you rarely miss an aspect.
@@TechGearTalk Let me clarify one thing. It moves because my ultra awkward hands accidentally touch that dial as I'm spinning the camera back and forth. So its more my fault rather than the cameras but yeah the stiffer movement (in my opinion) is more preferred for me.
That’s a super nice lineup of cameras. I get what you’re saying about the way you’re handling the M50. LOVE my Capture!! Thanks so much for all the positive feedback and your personal insights. I always welcome constructive discussion.
Totally binge watching your channel because as we all know, the content is superb. 🤓🙌🏻 Was wondering what gear you use to film Broll and if you have a video on this topic? Also, do you have any courses we can take that dive deeper into videography or photography? Thanks! 👍🏻
Thanks so much Kim 🙏 You can see some of my gear here: ruclips.net/video/Knqufkb35kY/видео.html I need to update my website. I don't have a course yet but have been toying with the idea of putting together 2 complete tracks. Think there is enough of a market?
HI.. that was indeed an awesome, worthy and perfect description of the M50 and its scenarios with regard to questions that arise to even a professional. Thanks for that. But I would like to compliment on the crisp tonal output of your voice, felt like u`re sawing an iron bar.. that really caught all my attention throughout the video, but had to rewind back many a times to grasp the content of your tutorial. Can you let me know which camera and what lens u used while filming this video especially and which was the Mic used for the audio recording. If its a secret.... no more questions asked... but Hats-Off to your tutorial.. just subscribed to follow your videos.. more specifically your crisp voice. thanks you.
Hi and thank you for the kind words. I use 2 x Canon C100MKII and a Sennheiser mic. Here is a list of my gear: www.techgeartalk.com/gear/ Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions.
Which camera would you recommend is the BEST & has the Best AUDIO for vlogging. The Sony a6100 or the canon m50? Does the Sony a6100 have overheating issues? Does the Sony a6100 lack of image stabilizer have a major affect on vlogging?
The a6100 has better mic preamps. I've experienced no overheating issues. Lack of stabilization will impact the look if you're walking around and handholding the camera without a gimbal. The M50 is easier to use and has a fully articulating screen. Ultimately, to get the best audio, you'll want a mic. Hope this was helpful.
I am stuck between a GoPro style vlog setup vs M50. How big is the difference in usage and portability? Would love to get insights from somebody who has handled both sets
It's a drastic difference. The GP you can just have in your pocket (even with a grip). The M50, even with a kit lens is quite a bit bigger (relatively). Depending on the use, there are applications to both. I don't think one is better than the other - they are just different.
Love this video. I bought this camera last year to film music videoclips, and it's absolutely great. I also started doing fashion photography with it, the results are surprinsing if you got the right lenses. The camera is super light, and as I always say, the photographer makes a good photo, not the camera. So, it's an awesome option for those that are looking for a great product with a considerable descent price 😊❤ Love your review.
So glad that you love the M50! I completely agree that the lenses are super important and that the photographer makes the picture. I love to hear that you're maximizing the use of the camera with multiple purposes. Thank you for being part of the channel Maria 🙏
Hi, thanks for the wonderful review. I am planning to get the M50 for recording my songs at home. If I sit 3-4 feet away from my camera, which lens do you recommend among these 1)Sigma efm 30mm 1.4 or 2) Sigma 56mm. I want to use the same lens for family photographies and I love to shoot portraits for my friends. Which focal length do you recommend for me? Thank you so much🙂
@@TechGearTalk no I don't want the kit lens. I want to invest in one prime lens for recording my videos (not handheld- I will play guitar and sing from 3-4 feet away). And occasionally use the same lens for taking people's photos. Both the sigma lens look good...but I am confused with the focal length as I never used any prime lens earlier. (I used a Nikon D3100 with a Tamron 18-200)
Ok, great, so you have a camera already. I understand you don't "want" the kit lens as your main lens but the reason I was asking is that "from 3-4 feet away" doesn't actually help as I don't know how you want the framing to look. Put your 18-200 on your Nikon and put it where the Canon will be, see what focal length gives you the framing you want, and that will help us pick the right Sigma lens. I can't imaging the 56 will work because it's probably not wide enough, but lets see. Let me know what you find out. While I do love the sigma lenses: ruclips.net/video/uORT1dfeS0M/видео.html I do normally recommend that people pick up the kit lens because of: ruclips.net/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/видео.html In the US, the kit lens is only $20 more, but I don't know where you live. If you live in the US, you should 100% get with the kit lens.
@@TechGearTalk thank you so much for your suggestion. I do not have any camera now. I am planning to get the M50 with a prime lens. I will probably get the kit lens as well and later will invest on the sigma 30mm 1.4. 😊
Your channel has been a great source of knowledge for me and I appreciate it all! I'm completely new to photography and filming so this is a newb question... would it be pointless to have both the Sigma 56mm f1.4 and the Canon 50mm f1.8 lenses (with the adapter of course)?
So glad I could help. Personally, those two focal lengths and max apertures are too close. I would use the 56 Bc it’s a 1.4, doesn’t require an adapter and it’s a sharper lens. Hope that helps.
Is this a good camera for family and kid photos? I currently have a canon T6. I was going to upgrade to something more expensive until I kept seeing videos on the m50 and now I think I want this one. If I do purchase this one I will also be purchasing the adapter to use my current lenses. My favorite being the 50mm 1.8 I also want to start incorporating small videos along with my photos for clients. Do you think clients will be off put by the small size? Does it look unprofessiona? I'm really on the fence with this one.
Yes, it will work well for family and kids photos. With the 10fps burst shooting, you can get them running around pretty well. As far as appearance. A client "might" be put off, but if I'm the client, I only care about what the end product looks like. So you may just start with a smaller kit like this, start making money, then if you see that it's an obstacle, upgrade later. That way you've already made the money back for buying it (and more). Invest in lenses - those stay with you.
GREAT VIDEO, if we use any of the EF lenses with stabilization turned ON with the M50, will it improve the stabilization as both the lens and M50 have stabilization? and what about the crop factor?
This is my first time watching a video from you and I just wanted to tell you that you are extremely likeable and in my opinion better than a lot of other fotography RUclipsrs, because you actually explain what you are talking about. I love how you they to accomodate all viewers Also your voice is really calming, easy to follow and in general just nice to listen to. So big compliment to you👍

I appreciate the overall presentation, and look forward to other videos that go deeper into specific aspects, like video in darker venues.
Thanks Richard! I do have a few other videos about it and will continue to post!
Thanks again Dor! You're going to love it once you have it!

Whoops, I said first mirrorless camera and meant Canons first mirrorless camera to offer 4K. Good catch by Northern Dirt. Also the SL2 shoots continuously at 5fps not 6fps. Props to Bobby Kuzmsnov for catching that one.

Can I use real-time Focus Peaking while recording video in Full HD mode?
Absolutely.
I know a lot of people don't like the single dial to change the exposure settings, but it is why I bought the camera. I love this feature!
Hi Tom, thanks for the insight. Light you, I now find that I like it because I don't have to adjust my grip.

As a beginner in youtube vlogging.. Which one to consider sony A6400 or the Canon M50 ??
Factors to consider during vlogging:
-Image Stabilization
-good mic output
-Auto-focus
-different level of slow or fast videography
-Can i do vlogging with 15-45mm lens?
Now let say if I am going for photography, with what lenses should i be going for:
-50mm f1.8 STM lens will b a good option?? Do that lens have image stabilization??
Help me in selecting 1 camera..
If any other option available in and around same budget do let me know...
I think the M50 is probably the easiest camera to use for beginners. It has excellent auto focus, super simple menu, fully articulating touch screen.
Yes, you can vlog with the 15-45. 50 1.8 is a good portrait lens but not great for landscape.
Here are some other videos to watch and compare the m50 and a6400:

A few years ago (I think in 2018) I bought Canon EOS M50 and didn't use it that much.
Today I want to start creating real estate videos and I remembered that I already have a camara but I don't know whether it's really good or not and I had a few questions that came to my mind such as which gimbal to use, which wide lense do I need and whether or not this camera is good in low light situations.
Luckily you answered all these questions of mine so I'll look into it in more detail.
Thanks a lot and I'm glad to find a great Israeli RUclipsr who knows his shit.😁

Thank you for breaking things down, and explaining things clearly and even giving examples as you’re doing voice overs! i’m not very tech savy and this camera features are a little more overwhelming then i thought it would be. So for us newbies and beginner like content creators it’s really appreciated. i’m really trying to learn how to produce better video quality on my channel and learn the the features they offer on this camera.
Hi. Here is a solution to the battery: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
I never use a monitor with the m50 bc of the articulating screen.
Here is the gimbal I use with it: geni.us/XVUC

I spent 1 week looking at other reviews - this is by far the best - your channel is the gift that keeps on giving - awesome work
Hi Steve. I'm super glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind words and for joining the community 🙏
What will you use it for?
If I’m purchasing the M50 as a beginner to photography, which lenses should I have between the EF-M 22mm, EF-M 15-45mm, and EF-M 55-200mm? Does it make sense to have the 15-45mm and 22mm? Just one of them? Is the 55-200mm necessary? Thanks!
Found you today, i love my M50, and thanks to you i have been enjoying mine a whole lot more today, i have more confidence in my M50 now. Thankyou!
Are you talking about this? amzn.to/2Rg32Tr
I couldn't find that model on their website, but I might try to get in touch with them.
Tech Gear Talk Yes. That’s the one. I hope you are able to acquire one to test. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my comment.
You're very welcome. I'm super appreciating of you taking the time to watch and providing feedback.
My question is: does M50 (Mk II) produces meaningfuly superior videos compared to our iPhones in our pockets (now in 2022)?
in case of m50 mark ii vs sl3 which have better picture quality with ef lenses like 50mm f1.8.
Such a clear and concise video for a beginner like me. What memory card would you recommend? Do micro sd cards work well with the adapter?
Thanks so much Juliet! Here are the ones I use: geni.us/xE3N9G
(I never us micro sd with adapter).
Now I want to buy this! Thank you for the good review. But I have a question..what do you prefer? 1080p 60fps or the 1080p 30fps for video vlogging.
Glad it was helpful. Personally, I shoot at 30. That way you can use 60 for slow motion. You might also like 24fps
You were clear and direct about everything and it really makes a difference. I'm not left with a question of price or info on any of the things you spoke about. I did so much research trying to find out the right info and you had it covered in a simple video. Thank you.
So glad I was able to help. Thank you for being part of the community 🙏

Hi. CONGRATS on the new camera. The limit is 30 minutes and unfortunately there is no solution do recording for longer on the SD card 🙁
@@TechGearTalk aww man! what's the alternate to SD card then?
I’m a beginner and I’ve watched several of your videos. I’m leaning towards the SL2. After watching this video I haven’t changed my mind. Do you agree?
Hi Don, I really like the SL2 and would recommend it to a beginner.
9 focus🤣
Great video. Can I plug in the power supply and shoot continuously? Can I use it for streaming such as zoom and RUclips? Can I charge it with a typical battery pack when travel? How long one battery will last when continuously shooting videos? Thanks.
Thank you.
1. yes, but: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
2. you'll need SparkoCam if you plan on using autofocus
3. No.
4. I don't know, it will depend on features (af, stabilization, lcd on/off, etc.) But that video should remove any battery issues.
Please which is better for photograhy nikon d5600 or canon m50?
@@TechGearTalk I certainly will. Thank you! Again, love your channel. Hoping this helps me with gecko photography. Thanks, Wally

@@TechGearTalk Agreed. Thanks again.

1. I don't know exactly how long a single battery lasts because I never shoot a continuous video like that (see rest of comment)
2. That's correct, no USB charging is possible.
What can you do? Watch this: ruclips.net/video/TOpsG_jlEbU/видео.html
@@TechGearTalk thank you!
You're very welcome
Would this be good for my first camera? I mainly want it for automotive photography!
Nice content discuss on the video. Which lens do you prefer to use with M50 for Macro photography ?
Thank you. The macro lens that I use is the Canon L-series 100mm f/2.8. If you want an ef-m lens instead, there is a 28mm f/3.5 macro
I am deciding to buy one M50 for Tutorial on music, and this helps me. Thanks in advance,
I would like to ask you, On the lense for Guitar acoustic, wish one should I get.
@@TechGearTalk do it please!!!
Thank you for this review! It was very helpful 👍
I'm super glad it was helpful Ryan! Thank you for the kind words and for being part of the community 🙏
I am in the process of selling my
Nikon DSLR kit to invest in the Canon M50 along with the best lens. I am
looking for a lens for the camera that I can shoot high quality sit down makeup
tutorials, but also vlog with when I need to. I want clean and sharp
video footage, but do not want to compromise depth of field. What lens
would you suggest I begin with?
Sigma Art 18-35mm f/1.8
The short answer is yes, sensor size matters if all other things are constant (aperture, shutter speed, iso, distance to subject)
ok I got a question
would your opinion to use the M50 for wild life (birding ) or do I wait for the MK ii ?
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens is what I am thinking of using for this = sadly not in usa so am limited to what I can get
Hi! How to take care of my camera specifically when im not using it. Should i just let its lense attach to its body and the battery all the time?(even when not using or stock)
Yes, I leave mine alone.
@@TechGearTalk thank you. I just bought the m50. Im newbie on this. Never had any camera. So i know nothing. But i wanna learn how to use it.
I’ll do my best to help.
@@TechGearTalk hope you'll make a video regarding on how to take care/proper use of camera. Like do's and dont's. Thank you
👍
Really helpful I have purchased M50 and delighted with it. Question how do you set ‘bulb’ for night photography in order to control exposure.?
I normally don't, because a 30" exposure is enough for me. But, in shutter speed, go all the way to the end. (after 30")
Terrific video.
Was wondering what gear you use to film Broll and if you have a video on this topic? Also, do you have any courses we can take that dive deeper into videography or photography? Thanks! 👍🏻
Thanks so much Kim 🙏
You can see some of my gear here: ruclips.net/video/Knqufkb35kY/видео.html I need to update my website.
Thank you so much🙂
Hi, you're very welcome - glad it was helpful. Are you going to get the kit lens as well?
Good move 👍
Your channel has been a great source of knowledge for me and I appreciate it all! I'm completely new to photography and filming so this is a newb question... would it be pointless to have both the Sigma 56mm f1.4 and the Canon 50mm f1.8 lenses (with the adapter of course)?
So glad I could help. Personally, those two focal lengths and max apertures are too close. I would use the 56 Bc it’s a 1.4, doesn’t require an adapter and it’s a sharper lens. Hope that helps.
@@TechGearTalk You're freakin' awesome!
If I use a tripod can I turn off the image stabilizer of camera/lenses?
With the adapter can use other brunches like Tokina?
Yes - when you use a tripod, turn off image stabilization.
Yes, you can use other brands with an adapter (also Sigma is making EF-M lenses)
Is this a good camera for family and kid photos? I currently have a canon T6. I was going to upgrade to something more expensive until I kept seeing videos on the m50 and now I think I want this one. If I do purchase this one I will also be purchasing the adapter to use my current lenses. My favorite being the 50mm 1.8
I also want to start incorporating small videos along with my photos for clients.
And what camera is best alternative for m50 for tight budget?
GREAT VIDEO,
if we use any of the EF lenses with stabilization turned ON with the M50, will it improve the stabilization as both the lens and M50 have stabilization? and what about the crop factor?
Yes, using any lens with IS (EF, EF-S or EF-M) will always help. The crop stays the same.
