OMG!!! Embarrassed to say I hadn't even heard of Ms. Salvant until last Wednesday when a friend invited me to join her to hear her at the Edmonton Jazz Festival. She was just incredible!!! What an artist!!! I'm still picking my jaw up off the floor!!! And her quartet was out of this world!! I can't wait to hear her again❤️❤️❤️
I heard her on the local jazz station today. She has one of those classic jazz voices that makes her singing incredible.
I learned about her on PBS last year.....absolutely beautiful, all feeling. She's exceptional
Neither did I. Just read about her in an Austrian tabloid, mentioned together with Lakecia Benjamin and Samara Joy. On the internet. But then I live in Australia and all we got was Taylor Swift. A desert when it comes to Jazz. Thank you RUclips!
keep on repeating this
I will mark that I was today years old when I heard this gorgeously talented woman sing. Chills.
Welcome to Cecile's Club!
TODAY WAS MY INTRODUCTION
🤯😍🥰
Me too ✋ 💕
she is a living legend; i wish i had done this the first time i heard her, i would celebrate that day like a holiday every year now!
Same here!
she is by far my favorite singer currently! I've been waiting and hoping for her to record this song. ❤
thats so sick!!! in the official version, she belts out the beginning, but here, she begins quietly. such distinct emotions and energy. what a master.
Always a good day when Cécile is on repeat 😍
ok that's it, Cecile has killed me for real this time
BRAVA, Cecile Mclorin Salvant who played in my town of San Sebastián, Spain in 2018 ~ this week's New Yorker Radio interview was spectacular in affirming the brilliance of this jazz artiste! Merciiiiii ...
A friend brought me here & I owe him tremendously. Beautiful vocals & unique style.
Breath-taking!
i love her!!!! my inspiration because she is a renacentist artist. Bravo Cecile! From Mexico
From 1'29...I just could have this playing in my ears non stop for the rest of my life...but then this would mean I would live a non-stop crying life so well...no then..I'll be reasonable and pause sometimes ;-)
Danke für diese Musik im Gleichklang mit Herz und Seele.
Just heard this on NPR while I was having a bought of melancholy thinking about some stress in my life. This was so fitting for contemplative drive and fell in love with this song.
A friend posted on FB about her. I never heard her name before today. As another person posted, I will mark that I was today years old when I discovered Cecile McLorin Salvant. Extraordinary, pure, a singer. A real singer. Wearing clothes.
Can't get enough of the ghost of our long lost LOVE! Merci!
This hit so deep.. it’s like yo first love n you keep meeting them again in yo dreams. The love you have fo them never fades they keep comin back n I’m okay wit that
I'm a rock musician primarily.
This is outstanding.
Really lovely. Hope you add Ms Salvant's name as composer/lyricist as well as performing artist. More than one cycle of talent makes a song like this happen!
Absolutely brilliant! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾😘
Absolutely exquisite.
Incredibly great voice...
Just gorgeous. Like her animation, too. 💚💙
Love this old-school new sound! Yes!! Billie Holiday ghost! great chilling stuff.
Wowowow, why have I never heard of her? She is wonderful!!!

1/1/2023 is the first time I have heard of Ms. Salvant and I feel sorry for all of the people that have never hear her sing.
Great voice, l love her!
Few true artists like Cecile & the rest
Eternal truth. Eternal love.
De toute beauté comme d'habitude. Bravo! ♡

magnifique
Amazing voice!
Perfection
Wow! Simplicity itself in terms of lyrics and tune, but carries a haunting punch.
I can't agree. Simplicity. You write songs?
Sorry, do I need to be a psycho-analyst to detect sarcasm. Do I need to be an artist to review a painting? Do I need to be a chef in order to appreciate food? Do I need to be a poet to read poems or an author to talk about books.
I just hope that that answers your question. Be happy.
ur absolutely right, it's not contrived or too elaborate at all. i mean to the first replier, come on, are you listening? it's two lines of melody repeated over and over again with words that don't have any tricky rhyme schemes or weird meter things really happening. but those two lines and the words are all veeery intense and resonant. haunting for sure. it cuts right to the bone. and if anyone asks i do write songs lol
M jis renmen Cecile… senplisite ak kreyativite egal majik
Staggering.
❤️💯🌺🙏
best Christmas song
Oh wow. What a haunting song.
Thank you ❤
why is this version so much better than the one in spotify
For real…
Quelle voix ❣️
Her voice is piercing ….. makes you want to close your eyes and be taken on a far away journey
Damien Jurado brought me here, and wow, just incredible! Absolutely beautiful and haunting, this chorus gives me chills
well ...today is my day being expose to this Amazing Artist ❤🔥
LIFE IS LOVERLY AND CRUEL BEAUTIFUL. MY HAIR SISTER Nina Simone WOULD HAVE LOVED THIS
Remarkable.
I think I've seen her on PBS. Video la Jazz!
Here from Caroline Kornstar been listening to it ever since that video and i would not know where i would be if i didn't find about this
Jaime Callum brought me here. I'm glad that he did.
Great sense of time and phrasing.
Love it. Has a Nina Simone-ish feel to it.
Alexa played this on my jazz radio 📻 while I was in the shower 🚿
…..Hit me hard. 🥺 💕 the kids chorus is beautiful
sad not to work for Cecile anymore

SING
She sounds a little like young Ethel Waters
