She sings like she's just breathing. This is beyond technique. She incorporates all the jazz masters - Sarah Vaughan comes to mind. With her own unique sensibilities. Her voice is a gentle touch that quietly commands we pay attention. I look forward to listening to more of her -- and she is the first vocalist in decades I've felt this about. This. Is. Musical. Artistry.
I'm also hearing traits of Eartha Kitt, who I absolutely adore
She seems to be the only modern jazz singer I can find that has the sensibility and connection to the music of the old singers. She's not just hitting the notes . It's a whole lot more happening here

I have followed Cecile for a while. Lucky to see her live in New Orleans a couple of years ago at Jazzfest. She is amazing amd stunning. The revelation for me though is Sullivan Fortner in this. His piano playing is astonishing .....

yes! fearlessly honest and searching in a way few are inclined or capable of. every performance has this thrum of risk and delight. i can't think of any other artist today consistently on her level, whether in the music world or not.
