    Definitely one of the best looking phasmids. Love this species! She's a stunner. Great colour variation in adults too.

      The Tarantula Cave thanks. Yeah I may attempt a lichen morph if the nymphs survive. So far I've not managed it but I'll try n try again 😁

      Never knew they could do this. For anyone reading these comments: www.keepinginsects.com/2017/02/how-to-get-the-lichen-color-morph-of-the-giant-prickly-stick-insect-extatosoma-tiaratum/

      The Tarantula Cave thanks for sharing that for people. If I manage to get it to work this time round I'll do a vid on it but sometimes it's down to the genetics

    Love these stick insects loads. I currently have five nymphs (three females and two males) in the L2-3 stage, I can't wait for them to mature. Your channel is very informative and your passion really shows.

    I loved this vid, these stick insects are my absolute favourite, loved your passion for them lol!
    I have a question about breeding, what age do the males start to be able to reproduce with females ? Is it in there last shed ? I have a adult female who’s older than then my males by a couple sheds, hoping we won’t lose her before there able to mate.

      Check for Wing buds. If there's no sign of tiny wings they are young, males are fully winged and females will have little buds and are quite chunky.

    • @OldChannelBugRealms

      Yes, they will refuse to eat and often hang around At the top of the enclosure. You sometimes can also notice a lighter looking body 😁

      Oh ok, thanks. I wanted to know as I just ordered an adult male to mate with my sub adult female but it sounds like she won’t be molting for a while yet, weird though because she’s been this instar for a few months now!

    Great video, I love phasmids but there doesn't seem to be a great variety here in the US. By the way has anyone ever told you that you look like a young Steve Winwood? Particularly when you smile-grin.

    • @OldChannelBugRealms
      @OldChannelBugRealms  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah its unfortunate that its illegal (as far as I'm aware?) to send them to u guys in the US. Nope nobody has told me that but I will certainly take it as a compliment haha! thanks!
