I think this is a very easy to understand video. Very basic and to the point which is great. No waffling, no difficult to understand jargon and no "judgement" as in, you can do it this way or this way, what ever is best for you and your sticks :)
That was a really interesting video, I love stick insects so that video would be great for a beginner, if my family wasn’t so scared of everything I would definitely be collecting, I watch Sam as the next best thing!
Bug Realms I am running away from home, so I’m heading your way, I will stay with Kelly and you, but shush I don’t want anyone to know where I am, I will help you all with your animal care! I’m going to pack up my big mini with everything! I will see you soon, have a nice coffee waiting and you can show me around the realm!
This was very informative thanks a million! One more request could you give a demo on how to clean out a full substrate stick enclosure and if you don't want to keep the eggs is it ok to throw them out with the substrate?
Could you use moistened perlite? In a dish instead of sand? All the sand we get here is treated with chemicals to make it clean for sand pits for kids and alot of the soil I have has added feed for plants Fab video btw!! ❤
Yay my pet also its ant season in the uk where you can get a queen ants easy you dont even have to leave your house you can find some in your garden, i have 2 queens (now 4 colonys) :D
awesome video. For a totally soil bottom terrarium, how often should the substrate be changed for cleanliness? or are there other ways to keep it clean? Thanks :- )
Is it possible to use a mesh enclosure as they are cheaper? Or will that not be humid enough? Also sometimes my house gets quite cold, but I have read that heat mats don't heat the air, so does anyone have suggestions for how to keep my bugs warm enough?
I'm thinking of having Indian stick insects I would like to use compost of something to give a nicer environment instead of just a paper towel how would I need to clean their poo etc? Or would the poo not need to be cleaned? I had the Indian before but they were in jars with privit but since i have moved to a forest area and would like to keep them again 🙂
This a good vid nice recap for me as kept them years ago as a teen I used to use paper towel for my Maclays spectres now waiting for eggs to hatch on a for my daughters birthday fingers crossed they hatch in time 🤯
Hi, just wondering how come the naturalised UK species don't seem to be readily available? I realise they can survive outside, but I thought that is only true in the South-West and on the Southern coast.
Good vids. I am thinking about getting stick insects (Trachyaretaon Brueckneri specifically). The thing is I both smoke indoors and burn joss sticks (both would be near the enclosure). Would either be harmful for them to inhale? Thanks
Hello I got my first stickbugs honduro red today :) they are not eting any of the fruit can u tell me what is best for them plz. Is the exor terror a good house for them bcause I need to get them a house and don't kno which 1 to get
I tried my hand at the black beauty Peruvian stick bugs. I had alot of trouble keeping them alive. It made me sad. They were so cute. I think they may have been parthogenetic eggs they only lived 3 to 4 days I did everything I knew to do. Except putting the bramble in a cup of water that's smart thanks I've been waiting to incubate more eggs until I know what I did wrong
Best of feeding them Privet. They tend to only go for bramble as they are older and even then it's not a guarantee 😊 also a dry kept species so over misting wouldn't be good for them either. I hope this helps

I have always used net enclosures,I think they are the best, having great ventilation that some stick insects need.
Adding spring tails to the soil is always a good idea. They are a clean up crew and will not eat the eggs.

Hi Sam! would you advise using springtails whenever you're using a full substrate floor?
