4:16 budget iems (in ear monitors) like the chu 2 salnotes zero 2 are good options, they are around 20-25 usd and have amazing sound quality, while also being able to block a lot of noise since they go quite deep in the ears, I've used them both for maimai and once you wear them while plugged in the cab, the only thing you hear is literally the sounds coming from the machine, i play using buttons and when i hit hard i can barely even hear the sounds of the buttons

    the flashbang manifesto hits hard
    p.s, for 8:57
i found accuracy boring, but i know that i have to balance acc-ing and score-pushing on higher lvls, so i set my goals on a spectrum :D
like ap's on 13, sss+ on 13+'s, then sss for easy 14's, ss for hard 14s, so on etc.
it works for the most part, and i only just loosely follow it for the sake of enjoy game™️
and whenever im finding that my goal spectrum is now too easy, i adjust it a bit higher
(sometimes the brain automatically does it for you by being oversaturated with goal completions xD)
    also fuck rating.
~~[cries on my 10th sss+ choke knowing that the rank is heavily tied to rating]~~

as a maimai player, as well as dabbling in the audiophile sphere, people like crinacle, gizaudio and jay’s audio might help you find a good pair that fits your price range and preferred sound. company recommendations (with disclaimers) include truthear (some have pretty wide nozzles), moondrop (qc issues im relation to humidity), simgot (treble might be too intense for some), etc. stay away from kz’s tho

Hi! I also play in Sydney and have been playing since DX released, I have 3k plays and just recently SSS plated the 13+ section (a big challenge!). I love seeing content for and from players getting into maimai, thanks for putting in the time to make this video!
Some tips if you're feeling stuck ⬇
Getting good quick starts with building growth habits. After every song, what did you do well? What did you struggle with? Your focus should be IDENTIFYING WEAKNESSES, but don't forget to pat yourself on the back when you improve 👍
When you know your weaknesses, focus them through dry drills (I like to do these on the wall when I'm taking a shower) or actively trying them in your play.
The MOST COMMON weakness is umiyuri. Some players will straight up refuse to play charts with umiyuri! Of course the only way is practise and you should study videos. Don't be afraid to pick the same song in your sets, your improvement > other people's thoughts.
Try new songs every day. Found a weird looking song that looks intimidating or stupid? Try it! There are so many hidden gems and cursed charts in maimai that are actually mega fun(ny).
Keep up the good work, looking forward to the 2k play video!

Great video! But i’ll leave a couple of things that you need to look more into from the video
    1. Hitting hard. Imma say try your best to hit softly. Always use your finger part of your hand to hit the button and do not use your palm. Using palm can be unnoticable for you to feel how hard you press the button.
    2. Playing for accuracy. At one point you’re gonna play like this anyways. You must learn how to ap first to ap higher level. It is a great way to improve. Usually do this when you feel like your stuck and seem to can’t improve on higher level. But if you already doing low level high accuracy, don’t forget to play high levels as well. Because reading 13+ and 14+ is very different. If you want, try doing 1-3 credits of full high level or just play the high level on 1 track every credit. Or just get 1 full session of playing high level. You know you can play that level if you’re easily get SS or higher on that level

As a maimai player from Hong Kong, I feel surprised that it costs AU$3.3 for a credit. In Hong Kong, we only takes HKD$6( ~1.16AUD) for a credit. As for my opinion on rating, I have a friend got quite a lot of "極" but she's just 145k and another one with 154k but only play basic and advance charts( with all 5 stars or even full DX score). So rating is not a way to judge people. For me, I'm just a noob with 1300+ credit and only got about 147k rating🤡. (English is not my native language so there may be a lot of grammar or wording mistake. Hope for your understanding🙏) More about accuracy:⬇
One thing to add: In maimai, some people think accuracy is how you can play( S-SSS+) but what actually is "accuracy" for maimai is DX score. When you hit the notes very accurate(+-1 frame), you will get critical perfect. After that(+-2 frame) you will get perfect. There's no such difference between crit perfect and perfect on the achievement rate(0-101%). But there's a difference in DX score. When you hit all the note in crit perfect, you will get full Dx score which is 100% achievement rate in Dx score and a 101% in normal achievement rate. If you get a normal perfect, your DX score will reduce 1, great for 2 and good or miss will get no marks. After you finish the whole song, your Dx score will shown with your achievement rate( below your partner) with (or without) stars below your DX score. 7 stars for full DX score(unofficial), 6 stars for 99% of the DX score(unofficial), 5 stars for 97%, 4 stars for 95%, 3 for 93%, 2 for 90% and 1 for 85%. 1-5 stars is what the machine can show you but when you say you get a 6 or 7 stars. The pro maimai players will know what you are talking about. This is what "accuracy" really means for maimai. (non professional explanation🤡)

point 7 really hits home, I HIGHLY think that I wouldn't be playing maimai anymore if it weren't for the friends I made in the arcade.
Also, for everyone feeling that they are stuck, try playing older charts. specifically from the maimai and maimai plus folder. They can be jarring at first as the patterns are very weird, but they're very good practice to get used to such patterns that are in some 14s

  • @Nole2701
    @Nole2701 Месяц назад +1

Playing for accuracy is exactly the fastest way to gain rating because the rating system heavily weighs towards SSS+. This is why most people's top 50s are filled with SSS+'s . It's simply because getting a let's say 300 rating play, is much easier to obtain by getting SSS+ on a 13.4 than getting SS on a 14.7. At 14.6k rating getting SS on 14.0s down to S on 14.5s, and not being able to S 14+ (except the cheesable ones like verforte, just spam) is completely normal.
To get max rating you need to SSS+ the top 50 hardest charts in the game so might as well start getting used to SSS+ing asap.

  • @nekodacat
    @nekodacat Месяц назад +2

my experience as a accuracy player is that, you will STILL have low accuracy map when moving to 14~ 14+, they are sometime too diverse to be put in same category, about 50% of the chart have to went through some degree of trial and error until the pattern is familiarized enough to hit sss+, just be careful that 14(especially 14+) largely difference from one to another
i would suggest go through all 14.0(or even .1 .2) to find the chart that is doable or readable to you. wish you do well on your journey to 15000 or the badge you want to get

7:10 as a guy who only plays on touch to hit rainbow what i want to say is please change to button as early as possible before it's too late
There's a reason why you rarely see a top touch player, it's just harder for touch player to play difficult chart in general (despite some charts being easier for touch)
Now I'm too used to touch I can't play on buttons so play on buttons guys

Just to comment on the gloves: I found that the daiso gloves are indeed perfect for maimai. But as a Chuni main the ₱50 thin cotton gloves from ace hardware (filipino) are the perfect for both looseness for good fingering but also good tactile response. The thich gloves just dont do it for me in chun, but they do have less friction and are perfect for mai. However i do forget to sometimes switch to the thicker gloves because lazy, and the gloves get hurt in the process.

Great stuff, I'd like to point something out from my 5 years of experience tho.
    1. Stamina, some charts are better to hit faster and softer to conserved stamina. At some point, when you reach 15k+, you'll need to play softer instead of hitting harder because charts are getting exhausting
    2. Play old charts. This is what my 16k friend told me to do. Old charts are awkward and often times random. But they are great for making you better at hitting notes outside the chart flow. Basically, it's the hand-eye movement flow that makes playing charts easier to read and follow
    3. Accurate sliding, prolly one of the most important skills in maimai. Practicing this will make you less likely to splash notes after slider or within the slider line
Good luck getting that rainbow rating

awesome video, fam. I'm an "oldhead" with 2379 plays on OG maimai and 470 on DX, which is actually on the lower side of things but I'm currently at 15,168 rating. I've been playing since Indonesia got its very first online maimai Cab back in 2015; it was orange plus and it was right around when the Persona collab first arrived. good times LOL
a few comments about the stuff you pointed out in the video:
    1. As much as you think the buttons will take the beating, your body eventually won't because playing hard is exhausting in general. learn as much of a chart as you can, develop the muscle memory and find places within charts where you can conserve your energy by playing with less exertion.
    2. Playing older songs (Finale or older) IMO helps you with dealing with quirkier charts with gimmicks that don't come up as often in DX and newer. Older charts have a different "philosophy" in how they're made and doesn't require as much stamina as the newer charts do
    3. IEMs are your best friends. I've personally been using my Truthear Hexa (US$ 80ish) to maimai but the fit does hurt a little after a while. I agree with other comments mentioning the likes of the 7Hz Zero 2, Moondrop Chu 2, and Truthear Gate; they're affordable beater IEMs that will do their job handsomely.
    4. I too "play for accuracy" but I'm probably already further ahead down the line than you in terms of the levels I'm aiming SSS+ on LOL. if you break down my rating chart, my old songs section consists of mostly 13.8 and 13.7 SSS+ which definitely helps a lot in getting to that 15k mark. if you were to ask me, I'd say start aiming for SSS+ in level 13s; 13.3-13.5 SSS+ brings you between 299-303 per song and that accumulates the more you can do them.
Can't wait to see you at 15k. Best of luck 🤙

    accuracy is important
but the ability to be able to play correctly on high-level charts is also necessary if u want to "improve"
to realize that studying will be very helpful
also, not only hitting the button "hard"
when you let go you have to release the power to relax
then it'll become comfortable to hit the next pattern while sweating on accuracy (lol)

I personally rock the 7HZ - Salnotes Zero IEMs which is about 40 Aussie bucks iirc. They're neutral sounding with a bit not a ton of bass, if you want a bit more you can get the Salnotes Zero 2 which is a more refined version of the previous Zero.
For a $20 USD IEM its honestly one of the better ones out there, even at that price range it beats out most $50 IEMs.

    WELCOME TO THOUSAND PLAYS!!!!!
i know some folks who have a thousand plus plays on ONE SINGLE SONG so im excited to see where you go :)
also on tapping softly, tapping hard damages the machines for everyone.... but also, tapping soft is way more energy efficient when you get to the 14s and 14+! tapping hard is just not feasible with how fast and how long you need to go. flashbanging is not desirable, but i also think players who tap softly are way more cool than those who slam hard 😅
i just wanted to add that its natural to hit plateaus now and then. it seems like your comfort zone at 12+ is also there because youre hitting a plateau. a few things -- have you played ALL the 12+ songs? and have you tried ALL the 13s, regardless of rating? i find that trying songs at a higher level (regardless of score) helps me to learn new tech that greatly benefits the lower levels. i had this problem too, where 13+ is my comfort zone, and i hit a wall with 14s. so my friends forced me to play 14 +.... voila. i did much better on the 14s songs i kept bricking on. amusing how the brain works.
most importantly, i think dont chase your rating! maimai is a game after all. and we're already spending money on it. play so that you are more proud about yohr scores on more songs :). im glad that was one of the first few things you opened with!
    all the best!! 🎉🎉
