I’m so happy your back full time. I’ve been here since 2008 when I was only 4 and now I’m 17 and I love getting to see you again after learning the piano for awhile. My time waiting was well spent love you bob
Muchas gracias for covering both disk system and satellaview peripherals, Bob. I've been waiting quite some time for your quality unboxing of those two!
Been watching your videos since early 2012 the video that got me into your channel was your world of nintendo collection room tour from 2011 i have to say ive always apreciated how humble and descriptive you are as a youtuber keep up with the good work!!! Im so proud of how much your world of nintendo room has evolved since my first time checking out the channel also I hope your are enjoying your summer and staying safe
Hi, there! Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you enjoy the videos and I'm looking forward to sharing more collection updates. Thank you for watching and commenting!
4:08 Believe it or not Bob, your original unboxing of the Famicom actually taught me what manga was! I was pretty young when I watched that for the first time 😂
I'll always have longer videos when the content covers only one topic. It's when I am discussing multiple consoles/games that I will break things up. So glad to hear you continue to enjoy the videos. Thanks as always for watching and commenting!
@@yauy that's awesome I can't wait btw I was watching one of the first party nintendo player guides episode and I heard you mention angry video game nerd....he's one of my favorites I have more respect for you because you like him. Also sometime can you do a video of playing Zelda on Nes or Contra
I've never been comfortable playing in front of other people, so making videos of me playing is probably not something I will consider. Glad to know you enjoy my videos, though!
The Twin Famicom is a Nintendo-licensed console made by Sharp that is a Famicom and Disk System combo unit. I would recommend that or a Famicom AV with Disk System because they have composite video out, whereas the original Famicom had only RF.
I believe that the thing you are referring to as an rf cable is a extension lead for the rf switch that came with the console, so you could have it closer being the controllers are hard wired. You would just unplug the existing rf cord from the back and plug the male into the famicom and the female into the existing rf switch.
I am doing Famicom Disk System Month in August on my other channel called, The Video Game Chronicles. I bought games for the disk system and am reviewing them along with three games that I put on my FDSStick. I bought another game for the disk system, but I am saving it for September. Happy 35th Anniversary, FDS!
That samurai is Takamaru, the star of The Mysterious Murasame Castle! Before the Virtual Console, it never left Japan. Given that it's a Disk System game like Kid Icarus and The Legend of Zelda, I wonder if it got the same lore-heavy, art-rich manual treatment we saw in your coverage of those titles... a quick Google search suggests it did! Love the Castlevania IV "cameo!!"
That name seems familiar, but I didn't want to embarrass myself trying to pronounce it! Wasn't it included in the GBA 20th anniversary Famicom box sets? Thanks as always for watching and commenting!
@@yauy Yes it was! Nazo no Murasame Jō (謎の村雨城). It was a launch title for the Disk System in 1986, released on April 14th. It was no. 22 of 30 in the commemorative Famicom Mini set. As absuplendous stated, the FDS manual is indeed lore-heavy and art rich! It plays very much like Zelda 1, but is not as puzzle-heavy and more action based. Truly an underrated gem of a game. Great content as always Bob!
17:30 It depends on the game. There is one game I am reviewing in August that could drain your batteries if you play it long enough. Trust me, some games on the FDS could drain your batteries and even break the belt inside.
Wow! I didn't know that some of the games could be so taxing on the hardware. That's probably one of the many reasons Nintendo eventually discontinued the Disk System.
I always love seeing your videos, Bob. Thank you! Keep them coming! The little manga instruction manual, can anyone confirm who drew it? The little boy with the tail is very reminiscent of Goku, from Dragon Ball/Z/GT/Super, and the style is very similar. I wonder if Nintendo was working with Akira Toriyama way back then. 🤔 I know he worked with them on Dragons Quest stuff and Chrono Trigger, so the relstionship was there.
I am Japanese and I can read the things written in Japanese, so if you have any questions about the documents in this video, please ask me. I might be able to help you.

Ahh, that mention of the Famicom modem video you did. That takes me back!
The Unboxed series will be 10 years old next year! 😁

@@yauy I've been trying to find the original Famicom and disk system. I'm not too sure what the sharp twin Famicom is. I'm gonna have to look that up!

Super Mario Bros. 2 (known as the Lost Levels in the US) is the best game on the system, IMO. I recently bought a reproduction NES cart for it.
