So glad you did a video on the Virtual Boy. I have such nostalgia for this system. I remember buying it on clearance for about $30 when I was 11 years old and spent the whole summer burning out my eyes. ;) Really wish I would’ve hung on to it.
I was 17 when this came out, and I remember seeing these in the clearance bin at KayBee toy store for 20 bucks. Nowadays, I kick myself daily for not grabbing one back then. Great video. Thanks for this.
I liked the placement of the back buttons on this controller and wish more modern controllers had adopted it. The controller is arguably the best thing about the Virtual Boy itself. I would be very interested in a Power Supplies Catalog video! There are some catalogs (and their items) that feel like they're lost to time, at least on the web.
Yes, they really did want it to be a portable. The VB was intended to have a headstrap as the main way to utilize it, but got dropped at last minute due to issues from the VB not being completely ready for market when released. Also, with the 64 on the way intended as a home console, they did not want to release this as a home console due to the fear of parents not wanting to shell out money for another home console within 2 years. I do seem to remember the 1997 variety of the SNES using that egg carton material inside the box too.
I feel so bad for that console... "Ultimate. Classic. System." That's what Wario calls it. But, I called a failure commercial but a cult classic system.
Ohhh, this is excellent documentation of a rare item. Thank you!
Bro Thanks For Making This Video. This Video Is Awesome Because It Is SUPER RARE To Get a FULL BOX.

Thanks, man! Glad to see you again.

Another great one! Thanks, Bob!
Thanks these are getting quite rare I don’t have to box for it but I do have it’s blockbuster rental case
Interesting to see this in the flesh.
Fantastic video on this console!

That makes sense. I think my Super Nintendo Junior has a styrofoam tray, though. Maybe that varied by region or manufacturing plant.
@@yauy you are likely right, I may have just had a false memory. No longer have all the original packaging, got lost in a move.
I think Nintendo should have revamped some of the better Virtual Boy titles like Wario Land for the 3DS. A missed opportunity to me.
That's a good point! I think Wario Land would have been great on 3DS.
I can honestly say I've never seen a virtual boy unboxing video
That Super Nintendo AC adapter plug is also compatible with the Super NES, Super NES 2, Nintendo 64, and the Nintendo GameCube.
25:14 prepare yourself for crispy ASMR 🥴👌
I'm impressed you hung around that long!
@@yauy I'm a simple woman--I see a new World of Nintendo video, I click, and I never leave
@@yauy also, I'd never even heard of the Virtual Boy until now 🤠
Well, I certainly appreciate your view!
it's that me or the virtual is the console with a lot of nintendo logo all around the console
So the Super Nintendo Plug is also compatible with the Virtual Boy.
Yes, that power tap was designed to work with the Super NES AC adapter.

How much did that whole thing cost?
It was in the $200 range when I bought it in 2007.
This system is why Nintendo doesn’t want to give VR another chance.
Mario Tennis is so terrible on Virtual Boy because the 3D Effect is so bad that you can't really see the Position of the Ball.
