I got EG to sign my left handed - right handed guitar about a year ago. One of the coolest things that's ever happened for me.
He signed my guitar too. I have a right handed Stratocaster I had restrung for a lefty. I live here in Memphis (where he's from) and one night out at a late night bar he came in with one of his bodygaurds. This was so long ago because I was in my drug experiment stage of early adulthood. Anyway we were at this spot and I was rolling on Ecstasy when he came in. I knew who he was and I just so happened to have my guitar with me that night. I carried it around with me a lot back then. I got him to sign it, but not before his bodyguard and I had words.
Yeah he's a pretty chill dude. The club I saw him at had a crappy dude running the PA but he, his wife, and personnel killed it on stage regardless.

Nice one bro..I play the same way..all my life ,, upbringing very similar to yours..but I'm blessed coz I only just discovered you last year,, stopped listening to blues after Jeff Healey and Gary Moore passed away..but I'm glad I can rediscover my love for Blu and learn from someone that plays the same way I do..

MrBHBjr I play this way. so did Albert King...& Bobby Bland or Otis Rush..can't recall which of the latter two. what's the big deal? it's just what you pick up as a kid & how you fiddle around with it
& it's weird, can understand with greater ease by watching a right hand guitarist play than a lefty.

you have to stand on your head to watch the video, makes it a lot easier
That's a trippy pickguard.
Keep in mind these are 5 note groupings, if you you want this type of sound practice pentatonic scales up and down with 5 notes per beat

I am a lefty but I play right handed guitar. One of these days we're going to jam whether it's this lifetime or the next.
This dude is unique!! Naturally right handed but plays left handed.
I'd really like to know what Eric is doing to get the rise in pitch on the chords he plays in the beginning of this lesson **(he's not using the tremelo bar). Also like to know the chords he's playing (name of chord and quality). Eric doesn't really explain in great detail. I'm interested in specifically knowing what he's playing throughout this lesson.

its actually EASIER to be taught guitar this way, because its exactly how you see the fretboard if you were looking down at your guitar.

Why didn't you opt to string a left-handed guitar in reverse? I am just getting started with the electric guitar and I play Upside Down. I have an Epiphone Les Paul which is a left-handed guitar but I changed the nut and strong it right handed.
I'm a left hand player. When you play a guitar with the strings in reverse of the guitar, it has a tendency to go out of tune more often. ✌🏿
As an upside down player, im used to learning from r8ghties. This just looks odd and hard to get accustomed to. Guess thats how i look lol

Eric is a great player no doubt (one of my favorites of all time actually), but not really good at giving lessons.

Absolutely, but upside strats just sound different. Different string tensions and having the back pickup backwards just sounds different
Actually just realised that he's kept it strung as normal. So it wouldn't change the tension, however pulling down to bend the high e string would be easier

Ok on both points!
He told me that he learned guitar from his older brother Little Jimmy King, who played it reversed as well. He said that by the time he realized it wasn't the "correct" way it was too late to relearn it. Doyle Bramhall II plays it reversed as well. If you ever get the chance to see Eric in person do it, he's amazing! I'm glad he's back!

No. Everyone needs to tune down. Stratocasters sound better that way.
WHERE'S THE SAMPLE LESSON?? THIS IS THE SAME LESSON ON RUclips. ERIC DOESN'T EXPLAIN ALL THAT HE IS PLAYING DURING THIS 5 MINUTE LESSON/VIDEO…. SUCH AS THAT COOL PITCH INCREASE WITH CHORDS AT BEGINNING. HE ALSO DOESN'T NME THE CHORDS HE'S PLAYING.
