I never knew how good he was until I saw a jam with Tim Henson and Tosin Abasi and no one knew their way around a 12 bar blues. All the sudden Eric went from a Giant to a planet to me lol. Hes so good
Mr. Bohlinger is not only one fine musician himself, but he has to be the best music interviewer on RUclips. Eric Gales's talent and personality come through so well here. Never met him, but I feel as though I have after this. Always a pleasure!
Eric is a wonderful human and incredible talent. We've watched his growth from hard times and are so happy to see the success he deserves, which hasn't gone to his head one bit! 👍❤
❤❤👍👍👍Wir lieben Dich Eric und freuen uns für Dich das Du die Anerkennung und Erfolg hast was Du schon lange verdient hast. Good Health to you and long live
I met Eric at one of his shows in Detroit. What an absolutely wonderful gentleman. Despite giving his all during the show he still met with everyone that wanted to say hello. He's a gem of a person and a fabulous musician. rock on.
Every human on Earth needs to see Eric Gales in concert at least once during their life. There’s no way to describe what this will do to you. Their lives will ALL be changed for the good. God Bless TeamEG wherever they go.
Supremely talented guy. My wife and I sat with him and his wife after a show in Buffalo a few years back. Truly nice genuine folks and a pleasure to be with. Awesome!
It is probably a “crime” that not more people, outside of the usual guitar lore crowds, know about the incredible talent Eric is and has been thru his career. Thankfully more people are taking notice specially since so many more established artists want to collaborate with him.
So crazy to see this pop up today because I just saw Eric in Chattanooga last night!!! He's not only a monster player, like Jimi and SRV rolled up into one, but also one of the coolest and most humble dudes you'll ever meet. Being able to see him play an intimate show in front of just a hundred or so people was absolutely mind-blowing.
Well done Eric Gales. Why is it that whenever the great man Jimi Hendrix is mentioned SRV's name pop's up. G.T.F.O.H and leave Jimi alone. RIP Jimi Hendrix 'The one and only.
I saw Eric in Stuart Florida....great shows...i was struck by how "clean" his sound was compared to other great blues players I've seen...different styles but Eric gales clean just hits you.....
Eric Gales is such a great musician 🎸 I love that his pedal board is so modest. When you're that talented a guitar player you don't need all the latest boutique toys.
Two great guitarist...but MOST IMPORTANT... TWO GREAT PEOPLE. I can relate to Eric struggles I have/had some of the same. To everyone reading this, use you guitar to HEAL YOURSELF AS WELL AS OTHERS. Love @ PREMIER GUITAR
So I have a friend that plays like Eric but a left handed flipped right not restrung it’s one of the most amazing things to see when someone can play guitar upside down better than most people play one regular
John is such a great host: great questions, great attitude, especially for all he's been through...John Bohlinger for President!! Lol Love the Rundowns 😊
I was a roadie for (what turned out to be) Dick Dale’s final tour. At one point I showed him a video of Eric playing his guitar the same way, lefty and upside-down. He had to really zoom in to believe what I was telling him. I don’t think he saw many people ever play that way in all his life. So, if Eric was ever inspired by Dick Dale then you can tell him that he got to impress Dick Dale before he left the planet. 🤙🏻 (And Dick didn’t really give a shit about other guitar players. - Glen Campbell, perhaps, but don’t quote me on that)
Watching Erics's upsidedown left hand technique has made my rightsideup trad. right hand technique more interesting. He's a true guitar hero in every sense. Blessings to Eric and his family.
Really irrelevant but i felt like pointing it out. Ben Affleck had this interview with Kendrick Perkins, and it was cringey because Ben was SO uncomfortable being near a black guy he started talking all "jive" and shit..."U in my top 10, feel me??" and totally how he DOESN'T talk lol, so kudos to John Bohlinger here for comfortably being himself. Appreciated.
Eric is the most humble most kind person you will ever meet he could brag and talk shit just cuz he’s fuxking amazing and from mars and raised in Memphis just a great player and a greater person glad to call him a friend
G’day to John,Eric and the team at Premier Guitar from your fans from Australia! Thank you to John,Eric and the team at Premier Guitar who decided to release this rig rundown a week before the blues fest in Byron bay Australia! I saw Eric at Blues fest for the first time back in 2018 and he blowed the roof off the stage! Needless to say his gig was one of the best ones that I had ever had the great fortune of being apart of! I am thrilled and can’t wait to see Eric again at Blues fest this week and thank you again for the great rundown!
Got to see Gales play a small, unadvertised gig at a small club on my birthday. There were maybe 100 people in the whole place. Got to meet him after the show. He's a really down to earth, humble guy. What a great birthday present!! If you get a chance to see EG play live, do it. He is truly a gifted musician and a just a darn good person on top of it.
I believe that Eric Gales play his guitar the way my idol Dick Dale did right when he (Dick Dale) first met Leo Fender back in 1954. He flipped the Fender Stratocaster and play it left-handed without restringing it. Despite he plays modern music and recently gets his own signature Magneto, but I think that it will be even better if Eric is inspired by the King of Surf Guitar himself and of course, Jimi Hendrix. Wish Mr. Eric Gales all the best, from Vietnam.
I wonder why he just doesn't play a true left handed model, instead of a right handed guitar flipped upside down? I know that's what Hendrix did, but Jimi HAD to, because back in the '60's -a left handed guitar was extremely rare. Gales doesn't have to. It would drive me CRAZY playing with those controls backwards and in the way like that. Is it just that he plays an upside down right handed guitar as a tribute to Hendrix?
He plays a regular right-handed guitar flipped upside down, so the strings are in the reverse order of a standard setup. There’s no reason for him to play a left-handed guitar because it would have to be restrung righty anyway. Hendrix restrung a right-handed guitar to be strung left-handed (due to the scarcity of left-handed guitars at the time, as you said). Completely different thing (Albert King played the same way). Eric is actually right handed but learned to play that way because of the influence of his left-handed older brothers (a very musical family). Hendrix is obviously an influence (Hendrix is an influence on pretty much every electric guitar player who came after him, either directly or indirectly), but Eric’s bigger influences were players like Robin Trower, Eric Johnson and, of course, his older brothers.
THIS GUY BLOWS MY MIND! NOT ONLY DOES HE PLAY A RIGHT HANDED GUITAR LEFT HANDED, IT'S STRUNG RIGHT HEANDED! THAT MEANS THAT HIS BRAIN IS ORENTED COMPLETELY OPPOSITE THAN THAT OF A REGULAR LEFT HANDED PERSON!.... INTERESTING TO FIND OUT THAT HE DRUMS RIGHT HANDED....
He’s one of the greatest guitarists to ever live. I have him at #18 all time on my list. His innate sense of rhythm and unique abilities is truly special.
I got rid of my Jam Man Express loop pedal and went for the Lekato Loop Station, (more user- friendly), but seeing Eric using that Boss Loop Station that syncs the drum track- now I have to have one! Easy to see that Eric is used to using a wireless rig, because look at those two walking all over those cables. Dreadful. But then, Eric probably has a bigger budget for new cables than I do.

And saw him not and seen him. I have seen him. Seen needs a helping verb.
I’ve met him twice and seen him cry on stage about how much he loves his wife. One of his shows was the last day of my honeymoon. What an inspiration
I never knew how good he was until I saw a jam with Tim Henson and Tosin Abasi and no one knew their way around a 12 bar blues. All the sudden Eric went from a Giant to a planet to me lol. Hes so good
Can’t wait for round two. Absolutely love the Eric Gales and Joe Bonamassa collaboration. Two of my favorite guitarists 🎸🎸🎶
He's such a great dude, a guitar heavyweight champion indeed
🙌 ❤
@@buckbreaker5185 Henson and Abasi: "WHAT DO YOU MEAN A SIMPLE RHYTHM!?"
His signature amp says it all. He is SUCH a down to earth, unpretentious, prodigiously talented dude. Much respect.
That amp is so amazing, I own two of them!
Mr. Bohlinger is not only one fine musician himself, but he has to be the best music interviewer on RUclips. Eric Gales's talent and personality come through so well here. Never met him, but I feel as though I have after this. Always a pleasure!
Yep, he is a great content host.
He's the best on planet earth... so much empathy...

Those "Dunlap" pedals are actually pretty rare! 🤣🤪
John is a national treasure. Eric is the King!
It is probably a “crime” that not more people, outside of the usual guitar lore crowds, know about the incredible talent Eric is and has been thru his career. Thankfully more people are taking notice specially since so many more established artists want to collaborate with him.
John is such a great interviewer. Super laid back and chill.

He gets that Ernie Isley liquid distortion tone. So good.

Exciting player. I really appreciate the warm connection between you two. Amazing interview.
Eric Gales is a really friendly and talented guitarist . Thank you John . 🔥🎸🔥🇺🇸☮️✨✨✨✨
Eric Gales is a treasure, such a good person and absolutely phenomenal musician.
Eric's playing is somehow both very precise and very emotional. Amazing artist.
Eric Gales is such a great musician 🎸 I love that his pedal board is so modest. When you're that talented a guitar player you don't need all the latest boutique toys.
I have been a fan of Eric's since the first Eric Gales Band album way back. Very cool cat and great video. Thanks
Man!!! Not just an iconic guitarist , but seems to be a genuine cool guy too. That's awesome!!!
Eric Gales and Bohlinger, It don't get any better
thank you guys for making all these videos, I was so stoked when I saw this one pop up today!
A true legend and music prodigy. Going deeper he’s also formerly known as Lil E who worked with 3-6 Mafia. Rock on brother 🎸
Amazed hes using a solid state head over his boutique, very expensive point to point wired TWO ROCK amp! The SS must be bloody good..
Paco de Lucia meets Flavor Flav😂
Good dude🤙
So I have a friend that plays like Eric but a left handed flipped right not restrung it’s one of the most amazing things to see when someone can play guitar upside down better than most people play one regular
Yeah it is astounding. Doyle Bramhall Jr and Albert King did.Albert is quite influential to Jimi, Beck, SRV and Roy Buchanan among others..
a non digital setup, just set the amp at its best and let the pedals do the rest, cheers 🖤
John is such a great host: great questions, great attitude, especially for all he's been through...John Bohlinger for President!! Lol
Love the Rundowns 😊
Mr Eric Gales is a great great great player. hi from Morocco

Two other guitarists who, play like that are John San Juan of Chicago’s Hushdrops and actor Rick Moranis.
Eric is awesome......great footage of him, kingfish, and samantha fish playing red house floating around
Watching Erics's upsidedown left hand technique has made my rightsideup trad. right hand technique more interesting. He's a true guitar hero in every sense. Blessings to Eric and his family.

Easily one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
All the best guitar players are decent drummers as well.
Eric is a monster of a player. Good to see him back in top form!
It's basically the same episode as last time 😂
I Want My Crown rivals Ric Flair vs Vince MacMahon for High Drama. Wooooo.
Gales is an overrated Eric Johnson Rip off .
Such a humble gifted string slinger🎶

The most amazing player around today
That loop had a pretty awesome Wu-Tang vibe to it.
I have been WAITING for his signature guitar. Just purchased one. Thanks Eric and Premier Guitar!!!!
So Very Cool, Thankyou. Such an inspiration. Cheers from Australia.
Eric is a great guy and a great musician as well!
Whenever I see Eric Gales is in a video, I click on it. Such a great person and musician! Thanks PG!
Our pleasure!

His tone is so good.
I like that guitar he plays, reminds me of the reshaped Strat Russ Ballard played in Argent.
Big Wreck new rig rundown please!
Dang, I missed seeing Eric in Ponte Vedra this year. I was a little late to the party in appreciating this guy.
Glad Eric is doing well! I saw him live back in his wild days happy to see he got it under control and is clean and Sober 🤩
I love the fact that he bought his pedalboard on Amazon…where most people shop these days.
Grammy nominated?! CONGRATS, ERIC & CREW! 🤘
One of my favorite players, I love watching him but I can’t anymore because his amplifier sounds so bad. 😢
if he played just 6 and 12 string acoustic he'd still blow us away.... maybe even moreso..
But the NASCAR sponsors would do opp research and kill it

Eric is awesome. Not too shabby with the guitar either!
For sure love this Dude! Enjoy his stories and obviously his playing and singing!!
John getting much better at playing i noticed more complex ideas erics amazing
Edie Brickell was my first celebrity crush. It was the hair, more than the song, lol.
Paul, you ol' dawg! (I didn't know, I just googled.)
not to be confused with Eric Gale the guitar virtuoso (Grover Washington)
Gold and Diamond encrusted Wah pedals, man i love that dude! True American original!
this dude is a crack up! happy vibes, and big bloody hands! nice feel he has
That's the MAN!
Fender hands out signature guitars all day long. Eric should’ve had one years ago. Well Magnetico knew he deserved one.
Sweet rig 🤘🏽10:02 yeah huh it does.
He has Really got the Tone AND the Feel ! And the FIRE
Eric is an amazing player and a cool guy. Just bought tix to see him in San Juan Cap in August!
Really great rig run down.
Eric has juicy TONE!!! & soo much feeling! You have MOJO!!!
I love this guy. He is beautiful musician in all senses.
At least he doesn't have to worry about finding a left-handed model 😅
Yep. I'm grinning and laughing right along w/ you Eric. Thanks for being you!
Two cool guys and simply real player!
Great guitarist
Dude's playing style is super obnoxious
CONGRATULATIONS,E ON THE GRAMMY NOMINATION

The new GOAT. Gales is the best
