He had the advantage of touring with Santana, as a teenager. He was a killer player back then, but he never was a very good songwriter, and he missed many of his younger years, due to psychological issues, mainly tied to substance abuse, and getting into/out of, legal trouble. He has some very unique voicings and speedy runs. My favorite thing to hear Eric do, is sitting in with other musicians, or his band playing having other songwriter/guitarists with them. Gales will add his stuff to the music of others, and often I really think it would’ve been a better song if he’d played on it. This is a recurring theme, with many guitarists, who aren’t famous for a specific song or album, but more for how they play, and the performances they put on.
Always floored by how Eric plays a right-handed guitar left-handed AND strung upside down. Yeah, Jimmy did the flip thing but he also flipped the string order to match his left-handed play. This kat keeps the right-handed string order!!! And we're not even talking yet about his ridiculous guitar skills and impeccable artistry. In a word, folks, DAMN! I am right handed and bought a left-handed white Strat just to further appreciate Eric. He's da boss!!
1st time I've seen anyone using that shure wireless. I've had one for about 8 years , and its an amazing unit. The only tuner I've owned where you can see the lights on a sun drenched stage.
Hope to see him play live soon, one of the most jaw dropping guitarist around. Digging the oversaturated low overtones of the Darth Vader Sound, that was cool 🤘 Playing the strings upside down like that always blows my mind, Gales is just on another level.
First off the Adidas is fresh as hell and that John Mayer loop was KILLIN🤣🤣🔥🔥 We both were literally responding to the flow the same way at the same time lmao
Saw him last night at the Buckhead Theater in Atlanta, grabbed a photo of his board, it was the one in this video. He put on a stellar performance. One of the best guitarists on the planet. An amazing musician with good heart and down to earth message for all of us. 🇺🇸👮🏻♂️🎸
This man is such an inspiration to me. I'm a bass player that can play guitar somewhat enough to make a little money but I dream of the day I can play bass with The Greatest Eric Gales
Eric is a living legend, no doubt. I think DVMark is off of guitarist radar, but they have great gear for guitar and bass. I use their ultralight 27lb 2x12 which takes 150w/ch stereo with my Kemper and I love it.
Totally true, I got one of their Neoclassic 1x12 cabs for $199 on a flash sale and I am extremely happy I impulse bought it. At that price I wasn’t really expecting much in terms of sound quality, and even the construction is better than I expected. It has a very flat response so my HX Stomp and power amp work really well though the unit and jeez is it light!
A true professional! I remember getting his debut cd, and just being blown away! I had just started playing guitar at the time! Definitely top ten player for me!
That’s one tiny amp to put out 250 watts!? I saw Eric play with Ron Artis a couple months ago what a amazing talented entertaining performer I’m surprised his guitar didn’t catch on fire what a beast glad he’s having his moment
Interesting……no buffer pedal anywhere, can’t hear any treble loss to my ears. And he’s literally playing everything upside down. Crazy voicing’s, great player.
Dear God I hope he just has a summer cold or some allergies going on, I would hate to see him slip back into the doing coke and other drugs again. Drugs nearly destroyed him before and it would be a shame to lose such a great talent.
One of the baddest, meanest six string slingers we as a planetary race have to offer right now. Don’t sleep on Uncle Eric.
That dude is so naturally musical. I’m always in awe.

This guy is such great player in every way, musically, gear knowledge and supreme cool.
He might be the best guitarist in the world, for my money.
The best in the world for the style you like. Too many phenomenal guitar players of different genders to narrow down to only one.
You need to listen to more music son
there is no best guitarist in the world. they are just different just like the music taste
Best guitarist or not, he's therapeutic to watch and listen to.
I’m hearing you bro 🎼🤘🏻
I love the honesty of his musicianship. Everything you hear is "him" no pretension .

What a lame comment.
F you buying a lh guitar for
@@Gggwwwppp then dont make it ;)
Got to meet and learn from Eric last week at the G4 Experience. Such a great guitarist and I think an even greater human being.
I always respected this guy and loved his playing. And after realising he has 2 Fuzz pedals in his board, I love him more. Eric is the best.
Whar up with that?
Ryan smith song 7 n 12
His new record is FIRE!
Always a treat to see and hear him play
I love how he calls the neck pickup the Albert King and the neck and middle the Stevie Ray. What a phenomenal player!

Going to see Eric tonight in Chester up in the North West of England……GREAT guitarist. That’s for sure
Have a great time!
This man is a class act all the way around. Saw him in Annapolis and it was easily in my top 3 shows of all time. Fantastic player.
This man could play anything and it would sound good
I've been a fan of Eric Gales since 1993, he's amazing, and just about the best guitarist around at the moment!
4:27 only fuz I've ever truly loved
Hope to see him play live soon, one of the most jaw dropping guitarist around.
Digging the oversaturated low overtones of the Darth Vader Sound, that was cool 🤘
Playing the strings upside down like that always blows my mind, Gales is just on another level.
Such a cool, laid back guy. A true fretmaster for sure!
Didn't know about the man till a couple years ago. Wow ,he's a beast on the ax.Now he's on the menu on a steady basis.
He is amazing, we live in great times with legends like Bonamassa, Gales, etc
First off the Adidas is fresh as hell and that John Mayer loop was KILLIN🤣🤣🔥🔥 We both were literally responding to the flow the same way at the same time lmao
This man is an incredible guitarist such feel and dynamics in his playing . Amazing tone and he plays fucking upside down
Amazing demo and rig rundown. Eric can play for sure.

ABSOLUTER Unique Guitar Player !
One of the COOLEST Modern Blues /Rock Players
This man is such an inspiration to me. I'm a bass player that can play guitar somewhat enough to make a little money but I dream of the day I can play bass with The Greatest Eric Gales
And I thought I was alone as a Frank Marino fan. Love it Eric.
Frank Marino is great
Had tickets right before covid it never happened then he retired. What a drag.
Frank Gambale.
who??? martino or marino?
@@soofitnsexy If you don't know you don't deserve to.
Such a beautiful touch.
Ever thought of putting a mic on the interviewer so we can hear the questions as well as the answers?
The phrase 'humble' gets thrown around a lot these days but this man is a master of the instrument with so much humility.

This guy should be known universaly! He is music incarnate. True man, true inventive musician. God bless U- E.G.
mindblowing to watch guys like eric and albert king play right-handed guitars left-handed.
Eric is so awesome!!! 🎸✨🔥
thats adorable he kept his jam with john mayer in the ditto
He wasnt saying that he played with John Mayer on that loop he was just implying that it was in the style of John
A true professional! I remember getting his debut cd, and just being blown away! I had just started playing guitar at the time! Definitely top ten player for me!
Great video. Thanks. I wish I had these pedals
Eric is a master. Thanks for sharing.
No one plays with as much feeling as Eric Gales
I'm sure we can find 1
Love that Guitar player he is incredible
I am out of words absolutely great
Great talent, and cool dude!
My favorite guitarist!
great gig at Chester Live Rooms last night.. what a talent
Lucky to have met Gales
Eric is the real deal on guitar! Love you to life.
Eric Gales got that 🔥
Give this man his crown 👑
He's an amazing dude
That’s one tiny amp to put out 250 watts!? I saw Eric play with Ron Artis a couple months ago what a amazing talented entertaining performer I’m surprised his guitar didn’t catch on fire what a beast glad he’s having his moment
You should see how small they can get 700-1000w out of for a bass amp😅 there are some plus sides to solid state.
Dude just makes me smile.....!!!!
Eric is dA Bomb!!!
My favorite electric guitarist
The amp sounds great
Smple and efficient and a bonus, the amp is light! Nice gear tour! Thank you Eric!
Legend player
Phenomenal player and cool dude
That LOOP THO
Using a Ditto pedal on stage would be a bold move indeed because you have to nail the track or it will clearly tell on you.
My, my, my!
Thanks!
I wonder if he feels the cables ever get in the way when he is playing and also does that happen to also influence his playing style?
lol. Ah, funny guy. Love that board. Perfect combo of pedals. Thank you for sharing..
Incredible player! 🎸🎸🎸🎸
amazing guitarist
That loop tho man😤
I sampled it to jam to cuz its KILLIN
fantastic !
That's _THE_ guy right there.
Eric Gales is great... Eric the Great
🤘🤘✌🖖
Yes!
¡Eric Gales eres un gran guitarrista! ✌🏻🔥
Looks like there's a DISC Tech 21 Boost DLA Delay pedal on there as well doing the repeats 🙂
Interesting……no buffer pedal anywhere, can’t hear any treble loss to my ears. And he’s literally playing everything upside down. Crazy voicing’s, great player.
Fair to say that buffer pedals are few and far between for guitar greats?! None of me heroes use them.
Whats up with that?
The greatest left handed of all time
Awesome
Thank you Eric! Im southpaw as well, but play right handed. Now im going to find a left handed guitar and flip it n see what youre talkin about!
That Octafuzz is my fav tone on his board, I thought he was down tuned at first, but thought it was probably an octaver pedal
Bro looks like 2022’s long lost member of RUN-D.M.C.
Legend!
This Guy is a K.I.N.G ladies and gentleman
Brilliant.
I don't recognize that JM song.... Eric working on something new with him?
He makes me so glad to be from Memphis.
I feel like many bluesy guitarists can’t get away with such a slow delay time like EG can!
such a badass
Eric is just plain old MacNasty! Damn good guitarist!
Dear God I hope he just has a summer cold or some allergies going on, I would hate to see him slip back into the doing coke and other drugs again. Drugs nearly destroyed him before and it would be a shame to lose such a great talent.
Amazing Guitarist!
Legend !
God damm!!! What a Guitar GOD!!!!!! Amazing. I'm gonna give up! That's it.
If anyone close to him check this, tell him to ditch the looper and get the TC Wiretap, it's designed to do exactly what he wants.
Eric's pedalboard is no nonsense. He doesn't have anything he doesn't use.
Nice
Aww bless him hes got a cold.
is he a blues artist?
He is, modern blues/rock, ala Bonamassa
@@GerryBlue what’s ala?
Yes. He’s been around since he was 16. He was on the Arsenio hall show back in the day.
hes like a black eric johnson or a la joe B
Dyanmm , speechless
holy shit the strings arent reversed. the low E is at the bottom
Yesss Indeed Blessed Sir💜💯🎉🎉🎉🎉💥💫🧨🎯🎰✨🎆✨🙏.
Dudes got a runny nose and that pinky nail. Hope he’s doing alright these days
Honestly compared to how he’s looked in the past years he looks great. His jaw isn’t all over the place. Maybe getting over Covid.
Lol for people who don't know he really is right-handed he just played a left-handed guitar upside down.
Thats a right handed guitar hes playing lol
Wow Wow👍👍
