Because it wasn't created by rocksteady this game was and is and will always be the best batman game in my opinion
I absolutely love the rocksteady games and do believe they all are a step above, but Arkham Origins and it’s combat and predator moments felt amazing, I love Origins, and always play it when I play through all of the games. Also, if it wiped out all tank battles and rocksteady hadn’t blatantly lied about the knight being an original character, Arkham Knight would’ve been the best superhero game ever made, just throwing it in since it’s an Arkham video.
Arkham Knight made me a firm believer in prioritizing story high on the list when developing a video game. Arkham Knight's story was so bad, and it's probably because Paul Dini (the veteran Batman comic book writer who also wrote Asylum, and Arkham City) didn't write it.
Asylum is inferior in terms of mechanics. Also the endgame of the joker was a bit weak with him turning into a titan.
nah. Knight's tank battles were hella fun and added much needed variety to the series

Gameplay wise Knight was a 11/10 for me, but the story being as awful as it was made me realize how important writing is...every year I'll play through every game in the Arkham series, starting with Origins, then Blackgate, then Asylum, and finally City...I only play Knight for the challenge maps, and DLC...I refuse to playthrough that awful story again. So until Knight, my idea was that gameplay was the only thing that mattered...well thanks to Knight being what it is, I now know that's not the case.
I recently found out about those Court of Owls statues on the rooftop. Also, I hope that the SS game is set in the Arkhamverse and follows up to the secret endings of Origins and Origins Blackgate.
Well we got: DeathStroke, Dead Shot as well Harley Quinn in this universe so it's just a matter of who also forms it as well what is their objective.
If I remember correctly, the Arkhamverse is done with and every project coming up will be in a new universe. Not positive on this though, just pretty sure

Dude, king shark died in the movie Batman Assault On Arkham so i dont think the SS game is canon.
@@38siddhiwinayaks58 Sefton Hill said it was in the same continuity as Arkham. Also, I know that Shark died, but they changed some things, such as Deadshot as a black guy.
Gotta be honest I genuinely think this has the best story every mission is a beat in barman’s massive character arc.
Plus best most complex exploration of joker and Batman’s relationship easily.
Best villains as well tbh bane is his perfect mirror and joker is his perfect antagonist.
Gotta be honest though one of my favorite boss fights was Deathstroke in origins and was significantly better than the Arkham knight fight against the mercenary
The best Batman game ever created, the voice, the suit, badass moments, best boss fights, the Christmas feels, this is how a Batman game should be. I just love origins.

While I also love Origins, I still have to give City the nod as the best. But let's be real, they're all great; except the reliance on the Batmobile in Knight. (Just my opinion. I never felt the need for the Batmobile in the games.)

What I've always found curious are the people who criticize Origins, but offer no specifics besides "It sucks." That is the laziest form of criticism.
While I do think City was the best game overall, Origins has great visuals and music, an interesting roster of villains, fantastic character moments (helped out by being an origin story), boss fights that are as good as the ones in City (and better in a few cases). I think the story is the best in the franchise (again helped by it being an origin story). The only part that felt shoehorned in was the Mad Hatter section, which was short and could be completed fairly early. And the DLC, getting to play through Mr. Freeze's origin story, was magnificent.

Agreed. City is my fav as well, but Origins lacks nothing in quality as a batman game. The deathstroke fight is arguably the best and most frustrating fight in the series. And the music is fantastic.
I see your challenge I will accept:
1: Joker was shoe-horned in to the story and took away the panache of should've been Batman dealing with far more grounded villains and assassins. Deathstroke, Anarky, and Lady Shiva all felt suited for an early Batman than psycho Joker
2: The fact they brought the launching grapple gun which as a special 'prototype' in Arkham City into the prequel makes no sense and defeats the purpose of it in City being a reward.
3: Isolating the story to a specific holiday is limiting; if they'd set it maybe a week before Christmas, or something, then there could be more they could do.
@@binsoku6 I love origins to death but I agree the grapnel accelerator made no sense story wise but the map was bigger so I get why they did it gameplay wise especially with crossing the gotham pioneer bridge
Controls felt slightly off or different to me. To this day I can't figure out what was different about it, but it was just off especially coming straight from Arkham City.
The open world was open but big and dead. What was the point of it being so big if it was lifeless?

Arkham Origins Blackgate had even more Suicide Squad set-up with Bronze Tiger and Deadshot being recruited by Amanda Waller and Rick Flag.
I truly never understood the hate for Origins. If it was the Joker twist, the Arkham games were about Batman & Joker's relationship. And as far as gameplay goes, the detective mode when you actually had to play detective was great. I wish there was more of it. And the combat/stealth was similar enough to Asylum/City as to not confuse old players of the series.
City is still the best, but Origins is incredibly underrated. I hope WB Montreal bring us another Batman game soon.
Edit: Also, how they did the Joker twist was fantastic. And Troy Baker was great in the voice role. He's not as good as Mark Hamill as the voice of The Clown Prince of Crime, but who is?
People didn't like it because it didn't live up to their expectations and that it was extremely similar to City but Origins is still a good game

aec111100 I wouldn’t say the ONLY great voice, Peter Weller was excellent, as was Roger Craig Smith. Conroy is just the Greatest voice for Batman of all time at least so far.

For Number 3; he’s The Bat, not a rat. He probably focused on flight first to stay on brand. Imagine a bat running up on you on the ground, it’d be like a squirrel with wings.

Man Origins got a lot of hate from fans but reading these comments and all I've seen are people wondered why such a great game got crapped on when we all loved it (origins was easily the best if not second best in the series)

Edit: you forgot the mystery of the guy which you had to look for his recordings on various Gotham Landmarks which both Solomon Wayne and a Penguin relative fought over a brilliant architect.
The Anarchy submission was honestly one of my favs of the whole series.

In the GCPD in the room besides the paramedics giving a discharge to the police officer, there’s in the floor right in front of the desk a poster of the flying Grayson, and if u go to detective mode it will detect it as a subject with status deceased, kinda sad, but cool anyways

Joker wanted batman dead right up until batman jumped off the building to save him.
That’s where the joker literally fell for batman.

A little hidden reference to the Batman comics. WB Montreal made it so that you can play as Batman if you hit the "New game button" exclusively for the rest of the game. They also call back to the Batman comics by having a character called Alfred

About the rejected assassins, Joker originally wanted Batman dead; it wasn’t until Batman saved him that he became obsessed with him
I dunno much but m pretty sure that court of owls are the main villains in gotham knights n maybe the poem is in the game trailer too or is at least similar
And now we have a suicide squad game no where near as good
The court of owls easter egg makes me believe Gotham Knights might have one point been intended to be an Arkham game, however - given how long games take to develop it seems unlikely.
It's so frustrating because origins is so close to being a great game. It has some of the best boss fights of the series, but between the fights can get extremely boring with the empty streets covered in snow.
Also I had the PC version which is so buggy its unplayable. It makes Arkham knight look good.

Idk why this game gets hate. I remember I rented out a theater for friends and girl I liked and ended up chasing Firefly to like 6am in the morning when I had to leave for theater at 8am. Still don’t regret it.

I never played any batman arkham games (only batman i played was on sega mega drive.) but wanna play them. Should i start from asylum or does it not matter? Also i read that arkham knight has some issues espc on pc so should i avoid it or is it fixed?

Why did they switch from Rocksteady to WB Montreal if the games were so good? Especially now with Gotham Knights coming out. Not that I’m complaining because both studios are great.
I don’t think rocksteady had any interest for a prequel and were already developing Arkham knight so i guess WB Montreal wanted to make a prequel game

Since rocksteady rejected on making a superman game I think it would be fun if they made what rocksteady would not
My biggest issue with origins is if you just play through the main story and ignore the side missions it feels way WAAAAY too short I didn't completely ignore the side missions on my first playthrough back when it came out but I did focus more on the story at first and when it ended I remember being very upset and just thinking "wait what? That's it? Are you freaking serious?!"

This is like the Bourne films. Origins was not well received for two reasons: it didn’t have Conroy and Hamill and it wasn’t made by rocksteady. However Arkham Knight does have those two and is made by Rocksteady, but it’s arguably worse (cuz it over relies on that fucking car, and the coolest and only boss fight is riddler like cmon). Ppl shouldn’t hate this game, it’s pretty good.

This is a good game, and probably better than just about every other superhero game out there that doesn't start with "Batman: Arkham," but this new movement to say it's not one of the worst in the Arkham series is misguided. It was buggy, combat felt imprecise compared to the other games, that Dark Knight progression system was totally broken, it had the blandest open world filled with recycled areas, has some of the worst multiplayer matchmaking I've ever seen and a criminal lack of support for it, and its voice cast makes it seem second rate too. It's good, maybe even great, but it's clearly the worst Arkham game imo.
And that doesn't start with Marvel's.

Absolutely wrong the joker original intention was to kill Batman. The dossier don’t explicitly suggest rejection just that more then they 8 that can were invited. Also shiva and deathstroke are considered equal to Batman in hand to hand combat so none were left off for being too skilled?!??
I just think it’s a big assumption to think these were rejected just bc they are not in Gotham. It’s more likely that these 3 didn’t fall for the jokers con.
