@@SUP-h9d As much as it is satisfying to progress through that story in Arkham City, the races are what always make me turn it down on Arkham Knight. I did it twice and really just let it go.
The joker being the main villain of the game makes perfect sense. It’s “Arkham Origins” because it’s the origin of the relationship between the Batman and the joker which is what the series is about
I know I’m in the minority, but Origins is my favourite game in the Arkham franchise. I really enjoy City and Asylum too, but Origins just hit different. I love the story, and snowy Gotham at Christmas was a beautiful setting. I also really like the character designs, combat and boss fights.
Out of all the games in the series, Origins is the one that feels the most thematically focused. If the other games are about letting you be Batman, Origins examines what it MEANS to be Batman.
I think Asylum has the best atmosphere: being stuck on that claustrophobic gothic island with some of the most dangerous lunatics Batman faces, chef’s kiss it’s just perfection City took everything great from asylum except that atmosphere and dialled it all up to 11 Origins is basically a copy and paste of City so felt weak for not being so revolutionary but more of a good thing is a good thing isn’t it? Knight was near perfect, I felt the city was too big and hated the overuse of the batmobile/tank but otherwise great culmination for the series
@kyoki86 You can see how in the video he spoke about most side plots being basic fetch quests and busy work. I think City was long enough without getting to a point where you feel bored. A longer game isn't always better.
kyoki86 I really like Arkham origins but I think city has better bosses than origins. City has me freeze, ras al ghul, clay face, and Solomon Grundy while origins has deathstroke and I enjoy the first bane fights but those are about the only good bosses for me.
@kyoki86 best boss fights, Clayface, Mr.Freeze. Arkham Origins reuses Bane and tried and failed to rip off Freeze twice in the DLC and TN1 Bane, Deathstroke was way too easy, along with Shiva, Croc was stereotypical BIG BOI, Copperhead was way too ez, Deadshot actually was innovative and challenging along with Firefly, but 2 great boss fights don't beat the 2 best in Franchise history (Mr. Freeze and Clayface), Only thing Arkham Origins has on City is the Deadshot design and the story that's it
My favorite Batman performance in the series. The moment I saw a rage-fueled Batman smash Kiler Croc's face in as if battling a giant monster were nothing, I knew I was in for something special.
The game is incredibly good, but not better than any other Arkham game. People forget that being the worst part of an amazing series doesn’t mean that it is in anyway bad
Knight is literally more hated on then origins now and no one seems to realize that. This is my honest opinion 1. Knight 2. City 3. Asylum 4. Origins All great games tho
Origins is ironically my favorite of the Arkham games and I personally prefer this "version" of Batman much more. The story was better than any other Arkham game to me.
I grew up on the Arkham games. They're so good I can always replay the stories and still love them. This game didn't bother too much. I can't wait to see if we actually get another game. Hopefully we see something at the DC Fandome
Finally, someone else sees it! The reason Joker was the focus of all of the games is because the series is really about their relationship! I think this game’s story might have been much better if it didn’t have to be set in the Arkhamverse, so instead of the game needing to focus on Joker to keep with the series themes, WB Montreal could’ve done a Year One/Long Halloween-esque story with crime family villains like Sionis or Falcone
Yeah, even in Arkham knight when joker is dead, he still haunts Batman because Batman knows how alike they are and he fears becoming the joker. He fears it so much that he pushes everyone away who may be able to help them because he doesn’t want to hurt them.
Personally I really like the pre rendered cutscenes. They were definitely very stylistically extreme and felt weird compared to the gameplay, but I really enjoyed the visual style and thought they were very engaging and nice to look at.
It’s frustrating how overlooked this game is because the set pieces, plot and designs are top notch. Loved the Firefly segment and going up the hotel to get to Joker just to end it in a fight with Bane. The voice acting was incredible and if Roger Craig Smith took over as Batman from now on I would 100% be ok with that.
@@csajegyember6179 I always loved it and never understood why people hated it. I wouldn't say it's my favourite but it's better than knight and I love it ☺️
I kind of agreed with you that a new villain would be better than Joker again but a comment on one of the Arkham games made me change my mind. Arkham games are focused around Batman and Joker, in Asylum we saw a generic batman story with joker being the main villain [ It was great but that's not my point], in City we saw Jokers end and how it affected Batman , in Knight despite there being Scarecrow and Arkham Knight we saw the struggles that batman had while being infected with Jokers blood and how he redeemed his sanity and locked Joker in a cage and sent him away and in Origins we obviously see why the asylum was reopened but we also see the origins of Batman and Jokers relationship and how Joker got so attached to Batman. Nice video by the way. Great Job.
Origins is one of my least favorite Arkham games but it is still a decent game so it’s pretty obvious to most people they can make a good Arkham game so I assume their next game will be better than origins.
@@plugshirt1684 oh killer moth sounds interesting with the arkham style he must look terrifying, I personally want to see gentleman ghost and maybe clock king

That’s a fair criticism of the electric gloves but when playing on new game plus and dare I say “I am Knight” difficulty it’s very nice and has saved me from death
I'd say the worst part of completing it is the multiplayer trophies, the servers were shut down about one year after the game released, hence, the only way to 100% this game is thorugh the Xbox 360 version, which is the only one that still has multiplayer servers.
U scan a whole bunch of plaques, and the end leads to an entrance down near the water on the ice just N of the hotel basement entrance, if memory serves correctly
Me and my friends are still mourning the loss of origins multiplayer. The satisfaction of one-shotting Batman by breaking his spine as Bane is indescribable.
Yeah Origins is my favorite overall. Best boss fights in the series. Best depiction of Bane. Great look at the relationship between Bruce and Alfred. Great dlc. I like the whole assassins angle.
Electrocutioner was meant to be a real fight, but they run out of the time to polish out the mechanics and just cut straight to the end, turning it into a meme.
Personally I think the Joker was my favorite part of this game. He felt more threatening, terrifying, insane, and compelling in this game. Batman's dialogue furthers that. I've never gotten the sense that Batman was scared of the Joker in Arkham City and Asylum but in this game, I REALLY see it. I think they introduced Joker perfectly in this game and I honestly think this game delivers the best performance and writing for Batman and Joker in any of the Arkham games.
Fun Fact: Roger Craig Smith also played Deidera in Naruto Shippuden and also he was the main character in Dying Light Kyle Crane along with Ezio Auditore from ACII-AC-Revelations
I'm a sucker for Batman stories set at Christmastime, so I'll usually boot this game up around the holidays. Its setting and story (giving Bruce an actual character arc is always welcome, and that cutscene of his argument with Alfred is fantastic stuff) make this probably my favorite entry in the franchise. The only things that reeeaaally rub me the wrong way with AO is how the upgrade tree keeps the "Disarm and Destroy" locked until probably 80% of the way through the story. There's no in-story reason for why Batman can't perform that move until so late, so it just feels incredibly arbitrary lock it until after Bird is defeated. The other thing I hate is the way that the alternate skins selection works; needing to complete a vanilla playthrough with the default costume before you're able to use an alternate costume for your next playthrough. That's terrible. And if you ever want to play it again with an alternate costume, you now need to do _ANOTHER_ vanilla playthrough with the default suit to unlock using alternate skins again. Thank god for playing it on PC and using mods. I also never use the Electrocutioner's gloves in combat for the exact same reason stated here, plus it's emphasized so much that it kinda makes it feel like you're playing as an electricity-themed character instead of Batman.
I think the “dungeon” design was lazy. Like for example, the copperhead dungeon was: walk into a room, open the door, go up the elevator, predator section, slowly walk back as you’re poisoned, and boss fight. That’s not a dungeon that’s a linear path. And all the other interiors besides the Royal Hotel and maybe black gate are nonsensical. I can’t imagine that being a real environment, like the main GCPD office area is stupid, unnecessary ladders, weird cubicle placement and….. gargoyles? why? Visually yeah it’s fine but it’s weird. Bane’s base is probably the most jarring, like you enter, and it’s an empty room with a grate. And that room is treated as important as it’s being guarded outside and I assume they go in there to get the venom treatment. The grate is the only way to enter the base and it makes no sense.
I played Arkham Asylum, City, and Knight when they all came out and I love all three of them I actually played this game for the first time a few weeks ago on Steam and I also absolutely loved this one as well That opening scene with all the villains being introduced got me so pumped up
Contrary to the popular opinion, I really like that the Joker played a big part in all the games. I liked how every game had a different story, but Batman’s struggle with the Joker was always there, even after his death.
I discovered (probably not first but I had never heard it before) that if you listen to one of the blackgate escapees he'll talk about how he's being hunted by captain boomerang, there's also a joke about the "batarang" that Batman throws but that's kinda secondary.
First video I've seen of yours and I have to say you did a really good job. Your points were very well explained (maybe hammered the samey does not mean bad a bit much, but I understand why) and I look forward to seeing you analyze other games. Also yes, the DLC for Origins is worth playing. Cold Cold Heart isn't BioShock 2 DLC or Dark Souls DLC level of great, but it's still pretty damn fun. Good 3 - 4 hours of fun.
The Arkham games are, and have always been about Batman and Joker. Everyone else is supplementary and exist as plot devices to bring the two together. I don't know why people think the Arkham games should have focused on other rogues when the Joker/Batman relationship was clearly the main focus the whole time. Arkham Asylum, City, Origin, and Knight are all about telling the story of the Bat and the Clown, and their symbolic struggle of good and evil.
For me this is the best Arkham game. Firstly, I find the story truly unique and interesting compared to the others, as it deals with the moral conflicts faced between Batman and Joker and Alfred, it really makes you realize the consequences Batman’s lifestyle has on his allies. As another comment put it “the other games show you what it’s like to be Batman, Origins shows you what it MEANS to be Batman”. Additionally, I feel that this game has the best set pieces of the series, with the snowy and misty settings adding a rejuvenated vibe along with the fact that the game is long enough to make each area not too repetitive. For example, being in Penguin’s ship and then later being in the tower fighting Bane the first time never feel old or worn, as the other games had done. City really does rush it’s story and throughout I’m thinking “ugh, this part again”. With origins I have no such moments. And as much as people may hate on it for not adding much to the series mechanically, it wasn’t obligated to. It was a filler game but IMO exceeded the others in its own style. Lastly, the biggest weakness of the Arkham games is how is any villain other than Joker going to be the main villain? Simply put, none of them can. Joker is everything; resourceful, chaotic, entertaining, imaginative, no other villain could fill that role in a game and it’s why he is a main character in all 4 games. Overall, I love Origins for having a great, more in depth story than the other games, a familiar system for stealth and combat, a big and beautiful variety of set pieces that always feel like I’m going through them the first time, and the amazing boss battles. In my opinion, Origins was City on a bigger and less restrained scale
Maybe I’m in the minority but I really don’t get the criticism for games of “not adding anything new or changing up the formula.” I don’t want any changes. The Arkham formula was already great and I wanted more of that. I wasn’t looking for new gadgets or revamped stealth system
I have a theory about the grapple accelerator/boost notice how Batmans cape is much larger in Arkham origins, what if the reason batman had to train in Arkham city was because his new suits cape was a bit smaller and thus harder to glide in. (Meaning he had the grapple accelerator/boost he just wasnt sure how he could handle it)
Is no one gunna mention the music score for this game? It was amazing, i personally think it was one of the best music scores in any of the arkham games
Are you dumb if it's not part of the trilogy why does it have arkham in the name just because they have the rights to wb Montreal doesnt mean it's part of the trilogy because it's still and arkham game
The game is definitlely NOT bugs free on console. Not on 360 at least. On launch, it was a nightmare of freezes, crashes, graphical bugs, framerate issues, going through the map, save file corruption and more. It still kinda is. I'm currently doing a 100% run and I had the game stuck on a black screen when loading new areas or simply loading my save file too many times to count and a couple crashes. I'm nearly done but I had to recollect Riddler's datapack twice on many occasions because the game crashed and didn't properly save each time I picked up one. Yeah, that added an hour of gameplay for sure.
I honestly liked the gloves it wasn't too overpowered to me , I mean your fighting alot of the same enemies so being able to get through them faster at some points is pretty useful
I found this to be my second favorite game before city. for a year of development this was a great game. I love the more comic style of the animation and Kevin Conroy as a young, more angry batman he absolutely nailed the lines. so overall i think that this is one of the greatest Arkham games
I really like this game, I would like to preface with that. Like all Arkham games, I replay it at least twice a year. But the the biggest problem with this game is the map. Everything is so bland and indistinctive that even after my several play throughs, I have serious trouble telling where I am without the map. Part of the problem is a lack of recognizable landmarks, specifically in the southern island. But even in the Arkham City portion it all just seemed to blend together in a way that it didn’t in that game. The changes made to make Arkham City look younger and not damaged made it all a lot more monotone. I think the biggest problem is the color, or lack thereof. EVERYTHING IS GRAY! I know it’s supposed to be snowing, but it was snowing in Arkham City, and this problem was never a factor. I REALLY hope they improve on this for the new game their making. Fingers crossed. EDIT: so, stupidly, I wrote this whole comment before actually watching the video, and he basically says everything that I did. So, yeah.
Orgins did something that I feel none of the others really got right: the Detective side of batman. Sure in the other games he tracks down people and solves riddles, but this whole game is about one big mystery that the world's greatest detective has to solve. It really seems an omage to the bat's orgins in the comics as a crime fighting detective, not the arkham knights interpretation of brute in black (that said knight is my favorite of the series so) but I really wish some of this games mystery could carried over. Maybe having the player piece together a shocking revalation that it was Jason under that mask, and suprising him with the fact that we knew. Idk, but I love orgins alot and don't understand the hate it gets for trying something different
honestly I don't mind that origins didn't change much from the other games. in my mind wb games Montreal were trying to be as respectful as they can to rocksteady. I mean look how much criticism came from them making the "glue grenade"
1. Arkham asylum - loved the creepy atmosphere of the asylum, almost felt like Batman’s version of bioshock 1, story was well paced not too many plot lines going on. The story felt the most focused and actually felt like it took place in one night. 2. Arkham city - improved on all the gameplay from Arkham asylum, made Batman himself feel less stiff and more agile. Story was good but not as well paced as asylum, felt a bit convoluted. For some reason I didn’t find the environment as interesting as asylum. But it had a great opening and ending. 3. Arkham Knight - easily had the best gameplay out of all the Arkham games and still graphically looks good to this day. But it had a lack of interesting boss fights, scarecrow was great in asylum but felt like they didn’t know how to use him in this game. A lot of the side missions were kind repetitive. 4. Arkham Origins - not a bad game I liked how they used some of the characters but it did just feel like expanded DLC for city, and for some reason the combat felt worse. Story was interesting at first, but after the joker reveal it started to feel like asylums story again, especially the last mission in black gate.
I played the game on PS3 and PC, and PC is still the way to go. Better graphics and higher framerates. The snow physx to this day still looks amazing! i experienced falling through the map once, in both versions, but never crashes. Must be tied to hardware, and luck.
i played through every batman game in the series and i really enjoyed them a lot and apart from the number of times you use the Batmobile in arkham knight it was actually an incredible game and really well done and I've known about arkham origins but never had the chance to play it since i was on console but since my recent switch to pc I've been given the chance to play it and so my opinion on the game is that it was incredible, i legit have no bad things to say about it tbh because the combat was the same we saw in the series and the stealth felt like the stealth that are in the rest of the games too so it was all the same mechanics but a new story and i really did enjoy this story a lot, the voice acting was great, the way they blend things into the game like new characters was really well done and then the detective vision sections were extremely fun to do and then you also have so much stuff to do after the game to continue taking down bad guys and ending the little side operations they had going on so overall this is an incredible game and if you haven't played it and can please do because you wont be disappointed
When I finally got around to playing this game, years after playing the other three Arkham games, I was honestly just blown away. I wish I could go back and have played it when it came out, unfortunately I listened to a lot of the negativity at the time and dismissed a great game.
I loved Origins. The Arkham games are like my children if I had any, I can’t pick a favorite. Gun to my head, I’d probably say Knight even though yes, the bat mobile gets repetitive but as a huge Batman fan, I just love the story and the interactions between Batman and different characters. I don’t know how I’d rank Origins, City and Asylum but Origins is sorely underrated. I think the story is also great. I love the Christmas setting and the soundtrack to the game is also great. The first Joker introduction is great and I liked the Bane origin story. Maybe there’s some kind of corporate thing going on but it should absolutely be included when they sell a package of Arkham games. It’s not a trilogy, it’s a quadrilogy

I know I’m in the minority, but Origins is my favourite game in the Arkham franchise. I really enjoy City and Asylum too, but Origins just hit different. I love the story, and snowy Gotham at Christmas was a beautiful setting. I also really like the character designs, combat and boss fights.
Same. I just liked it more than city. A lot of the story in city just felt convenient (its still a great game). Plus Origins had more suits
Out of all the games in the series, Origins is the one that feels the most thematically focused. If the other games are about letting you be Batman, Origins examines what it MEANS to be Batman.
Same here
I think Asylum has the best atmosphere: being stuck on that claustrophobic gothic island with some of the most dangerous lunatics Batman faces, chef’s kiss it’s just perfection
City took everything great from asylum except that atmosphere and dialled it all up to 11
Origins is basically a copy and paste of City so felt weak for not being so revolutionary but more of a good thing is a good thing isn’t it?
Knight was near perfect, I felt the city was too big and hated the overuse of the batmobile/tank but otherwise great culmination for the series
normalavdol I actually really liked that they killed Joker in City! It was beautifully done
Arkham origins has the best opening out of all arkham games games imo. I love how all of the enemies have no idea who you are and they shit themselves
That's the best thing about origins!
@kyoki86 Origins is a bit bloated and not as tight as city, it's the details that stop it from being a great game instead of just a good game.

James King It's definitely better than Knight.

I grew up on the Arkham games. They're so good I can always replay the stories and still love them. This game didn't bother too much. I can't wait to see if we actually get another game. Hopefully we see something at the DC Fandome
the schedule is out, montreal is the second reveal :D
They were my childhood. And my adulthood.
The arkham series is about the batman and joker relationship.
@@bounderby99 I agree
Yeah, even in Arkham knight when joker is dead, he still haunts Batman because Batman knows how alike they are and he fears becoming the joker. He fears it so much that he pushes everyone away who may be able to help them because he doesn’t want to hurt them.
I also saw HiTopFilms' video on Arkham Origins.
Love story
Personally I really like the pre rendered cutscenes. They were definitely very stylistically extreme and felt weird compared to the gameplay, but I really enjoyed the visual style and thought they were very engaging and nice to look at.
It’s frustrating how overlooked this game is because the set pieces, plot and designs are top notch. Loved the Firefly segment and going up the hotel to get to Joker just to end it in a fight with Bane. The voice acting was incredible and if Roger Craig Smith took over as Batman from now on I would 100% be ok with that.
26:43 is the most important point in the whole video, so glad someone else criticized such a prominent issue with the game.
That edit with batman in the batwing listening to caramelldansen is genius

It's my second favourite, obviously second to city, because it handled characters like bane, dead shot and deathstroke much better than rocksteady
Great Job.

Love this video man, just a tip you should run your voice recording through a De-Esser, some of the sibilance is harsh! Keep up the good work
I played Arkham Asylum, City, and Knight when they all came out and I love all three of them
I actually played this game for the first time a few weeks ago on Steam and I also absolutely loved this one as well
That opening scene with all the villains being introduced got me so pumped up
I don’t like how sometimes you hit someone on the ground and sometimes you won’t and it’ll ruin your conbo
The gliding didn't feel slow at all it felt like the same pace as arkham city.
The Deathstroke fight was the first time I, as a baby gamer, ever cried angry tears because I couldn’t beat a boss.
Contrary to the popular opinion, I really like that the Joker played a big part in all the games. I liked how every game had a different story, but Batman’s struggle with the Joker was always there, even after his death.
No mention of the crime scene analysis which was introduced in this game and carried over to Knight.
Finally more batman games

Thank you I am glad you enjoyed the video! ❤️❤️
I remember how proud I was when I finished he deathstroke fight without being hit and when I finished it on I am the night this game was dope
I just found out that the snow in arkham origins is more realistic than the snow in spiderman miles morales
I nearly did a spit take at Batman listening to Caramelldansen, holy shit lmao.
This was my wife’s favorite Arkham game as a backseat gamer
City is a close second
If I could just slap knight’s combat into origins it would literally be my perfect Batman game

The way I see it:
AC>AO>AA>AK
Must I say more?
So, yeah.
didn’t watch yet, but i liked that game, keep uploading man
Orgins did something that I feel none of the others really got right: the Detective side of batman. Idk, but I love orgins alot and don't understand the hate it gets for trying something different
batman getting cut out sounds like Banjo Kazooie NPC's talking
honestly I don't mind that origins didn't change much from the other games. in my mind wb games Montreal were trying to be as respectful as they can to rocksteady.
What if they were all released at the same time? That would sure change this list
I REALLY loved the martial artist enemies they were so fun to fight, them countering you, and you countering them, so fun.
Its a shame how there's not that many likes. Personally i liked it

I played the game on PS3 and PC, and PC is still the way to go. Better graphics and higher framerates. The snow physx to this day still looks amazing! i experienced falling through the map once, in both versions, but never crashes. Must be tied to hardware, and luck.
