The concussion detonator actually becomes useful exacty two times in the game: Copperhead and Firefly. The concussion detonator will kill all of Copperhead's clones during the hallucination instantly, making that boss fight much easier. For Firefly, the detonator will stun Firefly completely, making him unable to attack you for 5-10 seconds, allowing you to safely throw batarangs at Firefly until you're prompted to grapple him.
Wish I knew that because Copperhead's fight kicked my ass for a bit. Edit: Did a rerun of Arkham Origins recently and remembered this tip for Copperhead. I went from being 1 hit remaining from death to clearing the fight with only like 2 hits on New Game plus. Concussion detonator unrionically goated during this fight.
Everything I say in this video is 100% factual. Even the parts where the footage is contradictory to my words and when I have a buzzer come out to tell you all that I've lied.
In my opinion, I don’t think unlocking gear from challenges should’ve disqualified an attempt as long as it was a completely active feature that you didn’t use. As long as none of the challenges gave passive features that apply automatically and you didn’t use the unlocked gear I see no reason as to why that would invalidate the attempt.
13:42 Holy shit this happened to me in Arkham City’s boiler room fight, I took out one of the armored Joker thugs with a beatdown attack, but he didn’t fall to the ground and just stood there around me, not taking or dealing damage and following me around the room as I completed the quest. Funniest shit ever I swear.
4:22 Your upgrade problem at the GCR tower can be easily overcome by just not taking down most of the thugs in the way the game promps. The inverted takedown can be avoided by just gliding down behind the thug and then performing a silent takedown, the vent takedown can be avoided by just opening the vent normally and then performing a silent takedown, and the wall smash takedown can be avoided by detonating explosive gel on the wall instead. These aren't glitches so there's no reason to not do them in order to get around the problem of automatic upgrades. Edit: I just got to the part of the video where you figure this out some of this for yourself anyway lol. Glad you figured it out! Although my advice about avoiding the wall smash takedown with explosive gel should still be new help for your runs.
i dont know if in this game is diferent but in arkham city the game dont let you use the explosive gel in thugs with hostages as i will harm the hostage.
The rehabilitated thug sequence was so good it had me in tears, you did him dirty. I liked the stupidest thugs part too xDD. Btw congratulations for not surrendering despite failing so many times, I could NOT have kept going after the 1st failed attempt.
I don't usually comment on videos, but this one had a lot of gems in the narration. I was watching on 2x speed because of the length but still caught some ones that made me laugh: 22:50 "In this hallway of the GCDP, I added an extra decoration to this poster!" - I don't know why, but that one made me actually laugh out loud. 32:15 "Even Slade Wilson with one eye closed would be able to get through the Jezebel Plaza fight!" 40:31 - This one was a "What the heck?!" moment that was also hilarious to me for whatever reason. I had never heard of "Squidward Community College" before but the sheer unexpectedness of the line had me stuttering through chortles. 42:34 "I was just ONE Logan Paul, *also known as a mistake,* away from death."
Hello, great run btw, I did a similar run in The Batman Arkham Series (No Damage, No Upgrades, No Takedowns, No Quickfire Gadgets, No Gliding, No Detective Vision during Predator sections, No Combo Drop during Combat Sections) which includes BAO and I noticed that you had a hard time against Firefly Basically instead of using Glue grenades and Batarangs followed by a Batclaw during a Stun stage, I would use the Concussion Detonator as it sends him directly into the Stun stage (just like you did later) and _then_ fire a Batclaw at him to deal some hefty damage without doing the time-consuming Glue grenades and Batarangs tactic, now I just needed to perfectly dodge his attacks and time my Concussion Detonator Throws, so it was a nice Boss Fight and took generally less resets than calculated also you can just Ultra Stun the second guy in the GCR Tower instead of silent/vent takedown and then break the wooden wall normally by a punch or such after throwing a Remote Controlled Batarang through a very small gap in the window (top right in front of your face), hope this helps later
This run is insanely impressive. I don’t think you should have had to count the given “upgrades” (which are more just a forced increase in gadgets, rather than a normal upgrade tree one you’d buy with XP), but the fact that you did, and you stuck so incredibly steadfast to it, is remarkably admirable. You’re very skilled and very very knowledgeable about the series, but it’s the dedication to something, and something creative and interesting for Arkham that impresses me. Job well done
This takes me back to when I attempted the I Am The Night difficulty, once I got it unlocked. Granted I was not restricting myself as hard, but I felt confident in my gaming skills at the time. It took me 3 retries, but on my 4th run, I eventually got it. Was it frustrating? Yes. Was it satisfying? Also yes, but I was still feeling a bit salty from all that retrying. The first fail was when going to interrogate Black Mask, right before Cooperhead boss fight. I got reckless, stood still for a second too long, and got served a sniper bullet to the face. Yes, when I got back there, I broke that sniper's every single bone with a beatdown. Second failiure was on Bane's boss fight. I had a hard time dodging his charging attack at first, which caused me to lose a lot of HP. When panicking, I only then learned that running around like a headless chicken does the job. Unfortunately, one of the goons that joins later in the fight, literally walked up to me and went "I like ye cut, G" and smacked me in the back, resulting in a stun lock long enough, to get run over by the Bane pain train. And the last failiure, the most heartbreaking one, was right at the very end! I was at the "beat up Joker one last time" section. After Batman threw the Joker against the window and breaks it, Joker grabs two broken glass shards and holds them like daggers. At that point, you are supposed to dodge them, and commence the final beatdown. Right? Well, for some reason, the dodge button decided to not work anymore for me, so while I desperately tried to dodge incoming attacks, Batman instead stood there, taking L after L to the face, eventually dying like an absolute loser, right at the very last stretch. That nearly made me quit and got so mad, I didn't touched the game for 2 days.
For the most part it's Just a reskin of city but with some more annoying changes, but yeah I think this game is overall better than knight also the combat gets kinda boring with shock gloves due to how busted they are
Honestly I don't think the mandated upgrades received through story-progression should count in this challenge. Like you said, it automatically fails because of them but only on the technicality that they are considered "upgrades" The challenge though is whether or not you can beat the game without manually upgrading your gadgets/abilities. Regardless, this was pretty entertaining even if it was a chore for you towards the end.
Where have you been in my life? You're becoming one of my favorite creators ever, your commentary is funny and engaging, really hope to see grow in the future
The amount of meta, topical and Batman centric jokes that you have to have prior knowledge about is amazing one of my favourite Arkham content creators
I have never played an Arkham Batman game (my only console is the Nintendo switch, and in no way would I EVER play a cloud game with my internet). Still, it’s fun to see this videos! Keep it upb
You really love to see it. This game is almost as good for challenge runs as the Soulsborne games are. What i really want to see is an "I am Batman" challenge run. Rules; -Perfect freeflow for every combat encounter (or perfect counters, using the exact counters needed like blade dodge takedowns on ninjas, beatdowns on armored thugs, aerial attacks for shield enemies, etc.,) -Remain unseen for all traversal and predator encounters. -NO damage. -Anything else that would make it more like a definitive run AS Batman. Basically playing perfectly. -Resets allowed. Unless you think anybody could pull this off in one go.
"I was just a Logan Paul, also known as a mistake, to death" Bro that got me so hard LOL Great video dude, I just love those Arkham challenges. Greetings from Brazil
Dude, what a challenge, I didnt even understand at first you were really restarting because you got an upgrade. You must really love these games, or challenges, watching the whole video right now. No matter the result, congrats!
Youre actually amazing dude holy crap, you remind me of senza. You have great talents lying within. Good luck friend :)) hope you blow up in subs like you deserve
My friend randomly started throwing arham aslum jonkler memes at me, and now I am on my way to 4th replay of the whole arkham series, already finished origins and asylum!
The only way I was ever able to beat this twice was with that Deathstroke claw shooter. It literally made the whole mode A TOTAL JOKE! Admittedly though, I had to reset twice in both playthroughs (Xbox 360 & PS3) in the same two sections: - Towards the end of that collapsing bridge section in one of the harder Predator sections - Bane (w/ the overdose of Venom) final boss fight Great Video!
When I did "I Am The Knight" first loss against TN-1 Bane i made a mistake that costed me second and third time the game crashed and finally got it on the 4th attempt
Yes it's notoriously glitchy and buggy. It's terrible because this game needs a remaster more than any of the other games but they won't remaster it for whatever stupid reason. They could fix the bugs and glitches and make it play perfectly.
I dare you to try Arkham City Insane Difficulty Mod (on nexus mods) by GPUnity without resetting, if you die you delete your save and restart, no upgrades and on NG+. Then compare the two. Also I'm subbed and love your channel. Have you by any chance heard of the Arkham youtuber ClownPuncher139? He makes videos pretty similar to yours, so I wouldn't be surprised if you have.
ClownPuncher139 was one of my biggest inspirations for getting into content creation and I really love his content. Also, I'll definitely try that challenge idea out someday. It sounds like just the kind of torture I love with my gaming challenges
I ironically enough played most of the game the first time without even knowing about the upgrades and only figured it out when I got to the Bane fight.
10:24 i still cant beat up all those men there or in the server room to this day. So good choice. Anyways im gonna attempt this challenge now. Ill let you know how it goes
Nice... I have a full Hard Mode No Upgrades run of this game from last year on my channel, but I definitely wouldn't have wanted to go through Firefly with permadeath enabled. The Dark Knight System made it so annoying. You found some tricks I didn't but you missed an early one. In the first Predator Encounter, you can use X (or whatever, if PC) to open the grate and not do the tutorial Grate Takedown. This lets you do Silent Takedowns throughout the rest of the run. EDIT: oh I see I'm not the first to point this out. Apparently there are still a few of us out there doing these Origins runs =)
I thought I was amazing when I beat I am the night and I would mostly cheese the cooldowns on the remote claw and disrupt or so I could finish most predator things without leaving my gargoyle
I genuinely could never do a permadeath in any game. Making it most of the way through the game and dying would make me crash out so hard. I just played through the game for this first time on normal (I'm still working through the last post-story stuff) and died at least like 10x throughout, a few times in blackgate prison, which is at the very end of the main story
I remember playing this mode and FINALLY beating it on my 6th try. Its only cuz i would be impatient and would get sloppy after being overconfident that i could beat every fight on the first try
Yeah it's the one behind the church Ashley is locked in in the beginning of the original. I actually did a playthrough of OG RE4 not too long ago and that puzzle is way easier than I remember it being lol
32:50 I still don’t understand what doing a new run on the same save file does Edit: oh, it preserves you upgrade progress. I guess that sort of makes it like a non-randomized rogue-lite.
Honestly, typing in the suicide command in a permadeath run is such a power move.
The canonical beginning of "Suicide Squad"

I’m inclined to agree
You are truly now an Arkham Origins player of all time
you might not be able to finish without ANY upgrades, but you can do it without any OPTIONAL upgrades. And honestly. That's damn impressive.
All upgrades are optional.
20:50 is such perfect comedic timing, literally laughed irl at that, what cruel fate

I'm always a bit astonished by how glitchy Origins is when compared to the rest. None of them are bug free, but I swear Origins is made of cheese.
Yes it's notoriously glitchy and buggy. It's terrible because this game needs a remaster more than any of the other games but they won't remaster it for whatever stupid reason. They could fix the bugs and glitches and make it play perfectly.
