Roman is such a talented little boy, his performance made the movie that much stronger and Taika's writing and acting was simply the icing on the cake, the entire movie works 100% it will move you and make you laugh to death at the same time while bringing you Wes Anderson aesthetic vibes it's just brilliant! one my favorites ever too
Honestly, in my opinion, she should have gotten the Oscar nomination instead of Scarlett Johansson. Don't get me wrong, I loved Scarlett in the movie, but Thomasin just had more of an impact in my opinion. I just feel like she deserved it more. Plus, Scarlett also had a Best Actress nomination for Marriage Story. Again, nothing against Scarlett. Her performance did resonate with me, but Thomasin just resonated with me a little bit more.

We definitely have strong pockets of dry humor appreciation in America, but Ellen's audience doesn't quite fit the demographic. I find Taika brilliant and exceptionally funny, but I'm also originally from New England (English dry humor roots.)

I really applaud Taika for believing we should never forget the effects of war, and examining how children are affected by war. The fact that so many in Europe had to go through genocide in the past, and that now the Rohingya and Uighur amongst others are being affected by genocide is horrendous.
So when Scarlett Johansen was on a little while back and Ellen wouldn't even let her talk about the plot of the movie because she was so offended. Now she has turned around and actually listened to what the movie had to say.
Thank you Taika, for your genius and for representing New Zealand as only you can. I've loved your work forever. If more audiences watch your other work they will be closer to understanding how you ended up with this film. Congrats bro. You're a legend.
Such an extraordinary movie - it's almost like having an 'experience' - it is so hard to describe - but SO wonderful. Taika is just the best and his other big movies (Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople) are smaller budget just filled with his beautiful take on life and amazing humour. Taika is amazing!

That’s where I first saw him and didn’t realize it until he started getting more recognition. Went to IMDB to find out more about him and saw the credit, and the lightbulb went on.
Taika is so right, he is handsome. I've been such a fan since I saw What we do in the shadows. He is so talented, funny, smart and has a really quite beautiful face, but I've always had a thing for Maori men. His Bafta and Oscar are just proof that others value his immense talent too. I think the Kiwi sense of humour is quite similar to our British one, very dry and subtly sarcastic.
Taika Waititi did something in this movie I hadn’t seen since the 80’s and 90’s, the movie was completely from the child’s point of view. That is hard to do. I really think he should have gotten a best supporting actor nomination. I am basically in love with him now.

Taika Waititi did something in this movie I hadn’t seen since the 80’s and 90’s, the movie was completely from the child’s point of view. That is hard to do.
I really think he should have gotten a best supporting actor nomination.
