Thomas should resign or be impeached.; he is hearing and decoding cases that his politically active wife is working on. Where is their integrity? I think it has been lost.
Thomas and Cavanaugh should both be impeached. I rewatched the Cavanaugh hearings yesterday. I am really bothered by the attitude of the dumpty court! I taught high school and college and like to think I set an example of a strong, independent woman, and am so proud of what my students have achieved, especially the young women who came from extremely conservative homes. I taught in the reddist area of my state, so I know how hard many had to fight their families even to go to college. To set women back to illegal abortions goes against everything I believe in. Abortion is NOT a decision one person, much less nine of them, can make for another. It is a personal decision based on a personal belief system and the circumstances involved. The first time a fifteen year old told me she was pregnant, I could have cried for her. She did not have an abortion, but the choice was HERS! Vote Blue and be aware that the number of “jurists” on SCOTUS CAN BE INCREASED, AND SHOULD BE!

I think it's a New World phenomenon. I have worked in central Europe with a number of Americans and despite their education they seem to lack the capacity to think deeply (I call it dwell time). I was called into an office for lying during an interview and threatened with the loss of my job. I used my tax return which included overtime payments. I was never under oath or any higher than my future boss. (With a BA in physics and 20+ years of experience, I was making less than the secretaries). First, the public hearings by the January 6th congressional committee, followed by DOJ indictments and prosecution for treason. Then impeachment and/or indictment of improper and unethical justices. Sadly those in need of abortion in the meantime (in Texas, Mississippi, and similar states) may be without choices that they deserve to have.
In order to prove perjury, you have to prove that they lied. The only way to nail that one is by obtaining evidence of a prior statement that contradicts what they said on the stand, under oath. Most of these would-be Justices have been careful to never speak on a hot topic that may come up in a confirmation. Clarence Thomas was always very careful to never state his personal biases in writing or with anyone he did not absolutely trust to keep their mouth shut. Like wife Ginny, for example lol.

Not really well said at all if you understand our government and legal system. Our Supreme Court interprets the law, our Congress writes it. The Roe v Wade ruling was a weakly supported interpretation that has always been vulnerable to other equally strong arguments. Particularly those (including the leaked draft) based on the 10th amendment which holds that anything not directly addressed in the constitution is to be a matter for the individual states to deal with... abortion rights are not directly addressed in the constitution (an interpretation was made that they were implied in Roe v Wade.) In such situations, Congress is responsible for cementing a precise law in the constitution via legislation if they want to be sure it holds. Rather than do so, Congress chose the politically expedient cop out of letting it ride on a fairly weakly supported interpretation while attempting to manipulate potential justices into doing their jobs for them by getting them to promise they wouldn't consider challenges to it (which is highly unethical to ask as well as for a justice to agree to as all challenges should at least be open for consideration.) None of the justices here ever directly stated that they would uphold the Roe v Wade ruling regardless of the circumstances. Had they done so, they definitely shouldn't have been made justices. Long story short, Congress didn't do their jobs (as usual) and are now trying to deflect the blame (again as usual) onto the justices... with the help of sympathetic media outlets. Edit: Just to be clear, I myself am pro-choice. I just don't like it when anyone tries to pass their responsibility for something off on others who (whether I like the outcome of their actions or not) are not technically doing anything wrong.

Justice Roberts had an audacity to make a statement about how awful & bad a leak was; but what about the Clarence Thomas issue. Maybe it's time to ban, dismantle The Supreme Court because it's a political institution &/or it's making decisions using certain religious beliefs.
Definitely need to impose term limits on justices of the Supreme Court. Also need to expand the number of seats to at least 13 to better represent the increased size of the US population. Finally, a watchdog ethics committee with some real teeth to discipline those justices for their ethical transgressions would be a good idea. Congress can do any or all of these things, but the question is, will they have the political backbone to do so.
The question is not: why are politicians claiming they are anti-abortion. The question should be: Why do they think they need to claim this? Why is America's society so hellbent on taking this natural right away from women? Who votes for someone that says they would force their pregnant daughter to have a child?

Not to mention never can be a judge again or practice law.
It is just disgusting that Kavenaugh with the credible but insufficiënt investigated complaint about sexual assault is in the position to decide about abortion rigth. The same us the case with Justice Thomas and added to that hus unethical behaviour in trying to protect his wife for an investigation into her role in the jnsurrection.

I taught high school and college and like to think I set an example of a strong, independent woman, and am so proud of what my students have achieved, especially the young women who came from extremely conservative homes. I taught in the reddist area of my state, so I know how hard many had to fight their families even to go to college. To set women back to illegal abortions goes against everything I believe in. Abortion is NOT a decision one person, much less nine of them, can make for another. It is a personal decision based on a personal belief system and the circumstances involved. The first time a fifteen year old told me she was pregnant, I could have cried for her. She did not have an abortion, but the choice was HERS! Vote Blue and be aware that the number of “jurists” on SCOTUS CAN BE INCREASED, AND SHOULD BE!

I am a European and worked for over 20 years for an American multinational. I was never very impressed about the intellectual honesty among my American colleagues but what I realised following your politics for the last 6,7 years is that the hypocrisy of Republicans has no limits. I was called into an office for lying during an interview and threatened with the loss of my job. I used my tax return which included overtime payments. I was never under oath or any higher than my future boss. (With a BA in physics and 20+ years of experience, I was making less than the secretaries). First, the public hearings by the January 6th congressional committee, followed by DOJ indictments and prosecution for treason. Then impeachment and/or indictment of improper and unethical justices. Sadly those in need of abortion in the meantime (in Texas, Mississippi, and similar states) may be without choices that they deserve to have.
In order to prove perjury, you have to prove that they lied. The only way to nail that one is by obtaining evidence of a prior statement that contradicts what they said on the stand, under oath. Most of these would-be Justices have been careful to never speak on a hot topic that may come up in a confirmation. Clarence Thomas was always very careful to never state his personal biases in writing or with anyone he did not absolutely trust to keep their mouth shut. Like wife Ginny, for example lol.

Not really well said at all if you understand our government and legal system. Our Supreme Court interprets the law, our Congress writes it. The Roe v Wade ruling was a weakly supported interpretation that has always been vulnerable to other equally strong arguments. Particularly those (including the leaked draft) based on the 10th amendment which holds that anything not directly addressed in the constitution is to be a matter for the individual states to deal with... abortion rights are not directly addressed in the constitution (an interpretation was made that they were implied in Roe v Wade.) In such situations, Congress is responsible for cementing a precise law in the constitution via legislation if they want to be sure it holds. Rather than do so, Congress chose the politically expedient cop out of letting it ride on a fairly weakly supported interpretation while attempting to manipulate potential justices into doing their jobs for them by getting them to promise they wouldn't consider challenges to it (which is highly unethical to ask as well as for a justice to agree to as all challenges should at least be open for consideration.) None of the justices here ever directly stated that they would uphold the Roe v Wade ruling regardless of the circumstances. Had they done so, they definitely shouldn't have been made justices.
Long story short, Congress didn't do their jobs (as usual) and are now trying to deflect the blame (again as usual) onto the justices... with the help of sympathetic media outlets.
Edit: Just to be clear, I myself am pro-choice. I just don't like it when anyone tries to pass their responsibility for something off on others who (whether I like the outcome of their actions or not) are not technically doing anything wrong.

Justice Roberts had an audacity to make a statement about how awful & bad a leak was; but what about the Clarence Thomas issue. Maybe it's time to ban, dismantle The Supreme Court because it's a political institution &/or it's making decisions using certain religious beliefs.
The SCOTUS no longer bears any resemblance to a neutral, non partisan, non political, non compromised Legal Bench.

Definitely need to impose term limits on justices of the Supreme Court.

American society is not hellbent on this at all. Most people feel abortion needs to be legal. Most polls show over 2/3 in favor. It is the Federalist Society and the religious right that have obtained too much judicial power. It's indicative of Congress' general attitude of ignoring the will of their constituents on many issues that they confirmed these latest judges who will vote against the people's interests on many issues, as the members of Congress are doing. They've been hijacked by special interests and regular people don't count.

If they are going to force women to have a baby no matter what the circumstances, then the men responsible for the pregnancy must also be held accountable. He must be forced to pay for the woman's expenses while she is pregnant and can't work. He must be forced to pay for her health care. If the baby is born, he must be forced to financially support the unwanted child until they become an adult. If the women dies in childbirth, he must be charged with murder.

Lawrence and Donald once again true and factual. And that is why the judicial branch needs stricter laws placed upon it to restore checks and balances. Also too there's some judges on the supreme Court that need to be impeached disbarred and banned from ever running for office. The last part is important that way they cannot cause any more harm to our constitution and since they wanted to be political as a judge which they are not allowed to do it keeps them from being political. Not to mention never can be a judge again or practice law.

This is the big issue the founders of the country always wanted the separation of chuch and state. Religious beliefs are exactly that, beliefs not fact or science. So why is it a minority of people get to decide how others live their lives because of their "beliefs", this what freedom looks like to the GOP!

Those justices did lie. They implied they wouldn’t overturn Roe, but are prepared to do so the first chance they get.
The Supreme Court is forbidden to make rulings using political or religious bias. They just did both.
