43:17 The track is Gauntletted over a bridge. The bridge means there probably isn't enough room for a turnout in the conventional place so it is moved to before the bridge and this common track type used until the divergence.
43:17 is easy. You cannot build switches on a bridge that moves and expect reliable operation. I've noticed in Den Haag they sometimes use this same trick to avoid having comparatively "delicate" switch points where there will be a lot of cross traffic bouncing over them. Trams have some of the most fascinating and interesting trackwork you can find. And good Grief! Only the start, finish, and up to about 5 or 10 minutes from those times did Amsterdam look ANYTHING like the Amsterdam in which I spent a week in 1964. Gawd I feel old! The only thing that looked older were a very few of the buildings and maybe the tram itself. {O.O}
thankyou for explaining I was trying to find out what was the answer and to what and am not that to informative on trams or trains. Being elderly senior lady just enjoying the train and tram videos of all types. But I learn something from them daily from watching. To bad couldn't enjoy trams and trains younger or even get a chance to ride any. And haven't yet. But am enjoying the videos so much. At least I can travel and learn on RUclips ;)
