    Hi woodie ... I can appreciate the time you take to do the initial sketch... For a cityscape especially with perspective being really important ... Like how you block the darks in you have a nice way of going through all the stages of the painting... Really good results come about

    I was having withdrawals not seeing you paint but this video made up for it. Wow great video the painting is awesome. A curved building like that would probably give me a hard time. I loved the shoe string lady always interesting stuff on your channel.

      Hahah, yeah this one took me a bit longer to cut down and polish. It's funny you say that because the curved building scared me as well. It was a commission though so I took a bit more time working out the composition. I'm happy with the results and so was the client. Thanks for your continued support of the channel Greg! @WoodieWebber  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching and supporting the channel Cynthia! Great question, and like I told the woman in the video, I'm asked about this often. I explain my reasoning for the blue underpainting in this video: ruclips.net/video/isFWRovpLak/видео.html
      I might go back to umber or neutral gray once in a while but the blue has served me well as of late. Happy painting!

    I enjoyed watching the procress, im a novice painting urban sites in my small town when weather permits. Is there a reason for why you sketch in blue; the only reason I ask is my teacher had us paint in burnt siena and I don't know if there is perks to different color sketches. Thank you and love the work.

    • @WoodieWebber
      @WoodieWebber  2 года назад

      Great question Andrew! I've used colors like burnt siena, burnt umber, or transparent oxide red to draw with in the past. However a couple years ago I stumbled onto using blue for the drawing/underpainting. I explain why I made the switch to bule in this video: ruclips.net/video/isFWRovpLak/видео.html
      Nothing's set in stone and I'm always experimenting with different techniques so I may switch it up at any time, but for now blue is working well so I'm just going with it.
