I also do a little PA when not doing pottery. Love the red glasses to block in and get the contrast for composition. Good idea. Nice work and concept of getting a camera to get reactions.

You should definitely get in the habit of using them. They are also invaluable for comparing the relative value of paint mixtures😉They are one of my favorite tools that I wish had discovered earlier in my painting career. Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments and support of the channel! Best of luck on your plein air painting journey🙂

Hi Woodie, I always feel uplifted when I view your videos and work. There is such a human presence whereby people are smiling and interacting with friends, loved ones and children. In a crazy world, New Yorkers seem happy. Maybe it's the combination of your editing, music and the general atmosphere that you bring to your experience which becomes apart of those with you on the day as well as ours, the viewer. Love the painting. Good compositional move to have no sky. The building has such a strong presence with the foliage surrounding it. The people , painted with one or two strokes evoke a good sense of scale. Well done.

Thank you so very much for your thoughtful comments and continued support of the channel David. I really think you hit the nail on the head. It's a combination of all the things you mentioned. I feel like I could go almost anywhere in NYC and get that human presence you speak of, and that's what I've discovered is so fun about painting in an urban environment. Each and every person that walks by is completely unique. The videos organically highlight this aspect of city life.

Made me smile. Reminds me of when I was still able to paint en plein air back in the 1970s and 80s -- including a church on Staten Island in the middle of a snowy winter and in Banff in the summer amidst swarms of mosquitos, hitchhiking with oil paints and a sleeping bag. Now just occasional indoor portraits and seascapes with pastels or watercolors. Actually, this one reminds me of one I painted in a commune on Quadra Island after I took mushrooms -- I don't mean that as an insult. It was quickly purchased. The light and subject and weather were similar. But I did use more purple in the shadows from that day onward. ;)

Complete agreement - there’s something extraordinarily beautiful in the light captured on the roof. How about a series of boat pond paintings?!?!?! (And awaiting your signature ice cream truck art….)

Came out so good, Woodie! You mentioned boats.....are they remote controlled boats or big boats? I love seeing the different parts of NYC. Most of us will never see what you show us, Woodie!

    • @WoodieWebber

They are usually remote controlled boats but sometimes you even see some old fashioned ones with string to pull them back in. Glad you enjoyed the video Kay!

@@WoodieWebber That's so awesome about the remote controlled boats, Woodie! So much to see and do in NYC. There's about 5000 in my town here on Maine and it's a pretty area but not much to do. Thank you for showing us another angle of NYC!

Really like how you captured the light on the roof and surrounding trees! ... Definitely gives the feeling of a summer day ... Awesome Woodie, like how you highlight a smaller part of the scene rather than the usual overall view. You really are painting very well and I envy your summer weather. Love how people react to the what’s he doing stage compared to the nearly finished stage, it’s priceless!👍
