He's made some videos re-watching his early content, and has pointed out how weird it is when he reuses a gag in the same video, like the 2 "barely an inconvenience" moments in this one, as well as other mistakes he hadn't quite perfected yet. It's really interesting hearing him break down his process, especially considering how much he's improved.

Another plot hole for the basilisk is that Harry can understand it because he's a parselmouth bu he doesn't have super hearing other people like Ron and hermione would have been able to hear the hissing.
Also, can't they order some Mandrakes? Why are the petrified students left like that all year? Send them to St Mungo's hospital and find out what they saw.

Okay. Here's one thing I don't get: There were rumors about this creature living in the Chamber of Secrets. The teachers all knew the last time it was opened "a student died."
Hmm. Gee. They all knew which *student* that WAS, right? Seeing as she haunted the girls' lavatory for 50 years. And some of the teachers, namely Dumbledore and MacGonagall were teachers at the time it happened.
So, in all that time - just HARRY thought to ask Moaning Myrtle about what happened that day? Dumbledore never asked her what happened? She's right THERE. She still talks and thinks, it's not like she's no longer around to ask. So Dumbledore can't think to look into the fact that something occurred near that sink? He can't try to open it? And if Myrtle just saw eyes and died, Dumbledore or MacGonagall can't think, gee, what sort of creature is capable of that? Perhaps a basilisk? They can't put spells on the pipes and vents and what have you so the basilisk could never enter the hallways of the castle and endanger the staff and students? (Even if they were still unable to break the spell and enter the Chamber of Secrets themselves or find exactly where it was).
Yeah, I know. Harry's the main character and has to do all this stuff himself, and "so the book/movie could happen." 😉

The books explains that Dumbledore knew Lockheart was a fraud and hired him deliberately to to expose him. Jason Isaacs improvised kicking Doby because he thought that’s something his character would do 😂 the director liked so they kept the scene and he was only supposed to say something magical when he was about to curse Harry he randomly thought of saying abracadabra but it came out sounding like the killing curse 😅.

I know the book *implies* that Dumbledore knew he was a fraud when he asks Lockhart, "Fallen on your own sword, Gilderoy?" after everyone got back from the Chamber of Secrets.
But I don't remember him deliberately hiring Lockhart to expose him. The only explanation or implication about why Lockhart was hired was that nobody wanted the Defense Against the Dark Arts job except him. Because everyone else thought it was cursed.
Is there an explanation/implication in the books about Dumbledore hiring Lockhart because he wanted to expose him that I missed? Or was that just something Rowling said after the fact?

@@Tryforce8000 He did, Dumbledore knew some of the people Lockheart stole the achievements of, so he hired him to expose him as a fraud using Harry as bait. Lockheart thought that if he could teach the famous boy who lived, his reputation would skyrocket.

@@Lupinemancer87 I could see that happening, I'm just struggling to remember where that was mentioned in the books.

@@Tryforce8000 This just goes to show how screwed up of a Wizard Dumbledore was. He risks students' lives and education, not caring what kind of teacher he gets, and even knowing the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts could be cursed, he hires people for the position anyway, oh well, screw it. Some teacher might die. Whoopsie.

@@mythra7174 I guess I could see that point of view.
I see it as Dumbledore trying to protect his students. He knew that Voldemort would return, and even before he returned, the Dark Arts were still practiced (in secret) by a number of witches and wizards. Therefore they needed to be taught how to defend themselves against it/them as best they could. For that, they need a teacher.
I suppose a more ethical way to achieve that would be for Dumbledore to teach the students DA the DA *himself* . Since, as he put it, he is "cleverer than most wizards", he could safeguard himself better. And he's not deliberately putting anyone else in harm's way.
Of course, that puts a slight strain on his plans to help Harry fulfill the prophecy, so it's a bit of an ethical puzzle.
      Edit:
You're right, though. Allowing a wizard he at least suspected was a fraud to teach his students DA the DA was, at best, a counterproductive measure towards that goal on Dumbledore's part.
