You can not imagine how I feel happy to be part of your page on facebook. Your watercolor paintings are wonderful. How I wish to live closer in order to learn this beautiful and smooth technique of Chinese painting. I am self-taught, and I am learning with what I see in the various videos that I have been watching daily. I already painted some watercolors of landscapes and flowers. But this was the most enchanted me. I work with acrylic paint in water. But also I own the Watercolor Pentel tube of Chinese origin. I use Canson 300gr and 400gr. I have 2 Chinese brushes of Keramik, number 1 and number 7 from natural animal hair. I do not know if you could give me some tips, since I live in Brazil in a state that does not have many options to learn this technique. Perhaps showing me some videos I can watch to go deeper. Monica Maria Cavalcante Lima I applaud you for teaching yourself! Well done! Learning anything takes a lifetime. There are now many interesting Chinese brush painting videos on RUclips which you may find helpful. The most important thing is getting the right paper, brushes and ink. You need 'rice' paper, not watercolor paper. Check out orientalartsupply or blueheronarts websites. They give lots of tips and will ship internationally. Good luck and happy painting!

Hi! I just wanna ask can you use acrylics on rice paper? I wam about to try chinese painting apparently I only have watercolors with me (Prang is the name of the brand) can I use it too? Thank you!
youriemhei Acrylics do not work well for this style of painting. Your watercolors may work okay. The brand most used in China is Marie's Chinese watercolors. They come in tubes. Good luck!
