Thank you for showing how layering the brush and brush strokes make beautiful goldfish! I will have fun trying different colors of fish using the same techniques! Beautiful work - Thank you for sharing your talent!
This was amazing!! I'm Chinese too but I can't paint anything as good as this! I just wish your camera man was as good as your talent. But other than that, great job!

Thank you very much for this lesson. Your instructions were very clear. I was especially pleased to see the mixing of the colors. I have a sumi ink set. And i have made my own ink. But i have never realized that regular water color could be added. So, thank you again for an excellent lesson. I can't wait to go play. :-)
The camera needs to stay still so we can see how you move the brush. The video got frustrating after 2.5 minutes... BEAUTIFUL WORK ON ARTISTS PART THOUGH!

paper is so lovely to paint on, canvas even with extra white gesso is another thing & I am sure it's that feeling of "I can't mess this up where paper does not unless you're paper is designed to frame.
@@SamprazDoodles No, it's the cameraman, a cameraman has to understand the limitations of the camera and try to minimize it's impact, if a camera has noisy AF use manual focus, if the camera doesn't have MF mode then try to move it the least as possible so focusing is not required, that camera seems to have a motorized (and noisy) zoom system, in that case don't zoom just stay quiet. Actually if they replaced the cameraman with a still tripod the video would be much better.
@@Dellasus2011 "Terrible?"... Your attitude is Terrible! You didn't have to hurt someone's feelings to get your point across!!! All you had to say was, "It would be better if you had a Tri-pod, so the camera (your not insulting anyone, like He//she) can be steady." Be NICE... or be gone.
Iren Nikulina Chinese brush. The most commonly found one. The one she used for the eyes is a smaller, thinner one; this size of chinese brush will probably harder to find. IMO, chinese brush is similar to the one-size-fits-all kind of idea, so you'll have less confusion on which Chinese brush to get because there's kinda only one size to get anyway compared to other art brushes like flat brush, angle brush, round, etc.
I had never heard of Chinese Brush Painting until I saw a book about it in a hobby store this past weekend. I paint with Acrylics and Watercolor but this looks amazing. It kind of looks like a combination of the two but better. Do you have to have special brushes or are those just for looks? What kind of paper do you use? How similar is this to watercolor? Your painting is beautiful.
+simplethingsbykathy1 let's reason this out for a second. She kept dipping her brush into water. Hummmm. Put our thinking caps on... I'm thinking... WATER COLOR! Am I right? Am I right? At least I've never used water when I paint with acrylic, and I always use water when I paint with water color, sooooo, I'm just kinda throwin that out there.
+911ambulancegirl Clearly you don't paint much. Water is often used in different styles of painting with acrylics. You can get all types of textures and effects. But thanks for your lovely and helpful input. *sigh*
Great work! I was frustrated by the camera movement and the sound of the zoom. But the painting of the goldfish seems quite interesting. I have tried something similar with flowers. But it takes both patience and practice to do it properly. I paint a lot but in another art-style. Much more random compared to this and emotional than planned out like this fish. I admire the way you work and Asian art styles generally speaking. The way it was painted before in old days and now is quite interesting. And much more structural and balanced. Keep up the good work and keep posting video-tutorials. It really helps people a lot. ;)
This is so beautiful!!! does anyone know what white she is using for dots? I have never seen a bottle of white watercolor paint- is it india ink or gouache?

Wow! Absolutely breathtaking brushwork. I audibly gasped. Thank you for inspiring me to practice!
She makes it look so simple, but it’s not, every brush stroke is so expressive!
I agree with the poster who said "I didn't know I needed to see this till I saw it." Inspiring!

That is amazing I have to try it!! I love watercolor and this Chinese painting looks very interesting! Thanks for posting this!
Right, here was what I was thinking...
"Okay, I can do it. The fish looks simple....So..."
Then it went brush brush brush...
"yep... I give up."
+Sue-Kei Fan LOL! I didn't even pick up a brush before I gave up! I just like to watch!
LOL
This is very similar to "one stroke" painting by Donna Dewberry. Learn that technique and it will be a lot easier to do this fish.
Sue-Kei Fan but
Sue-Kei Fan it's better to learn calligraphy first then do something like this and you also need to have a steady hand.
I love to watch this, so relaxing :D Also her voice is soothing.

No... the "him" is holding the camera
moving way too much... made me very dizzy.
Terrible! He/She moved around too much, the lens struggled to keep focus... Tip: Use tripod and sit back
