Regarding the Psychedelic Sexfunk version. I just sent this to some friends not long ago, I can’t be bothered editing it so excuse the bits that are self explanatory or confusing. You’ll get the gist of what I’m excited about!
“I can never get bored of this! Pure musical genius! RHCP covering the most well known lyrical section of Eazy E/NWA’s Boyz-n-the-Hood written in 1987 but with the main riff from that song (which is a different section which comes in just after those lyrics), into their own song Special Secret Song Inside from their 1987 album The Uplify Mofo Party Plan! Both of these songs absolutely blew up in the LA scene in 87/88! This is from the Psychedelic Sexfunk Live From Heaven gig in Long Beach LA in 1989. Can you imagine the buzz of being in that room!? One of the biggest LA bands
at the time covering the biggest hip hop song of the time by one of the biggest rappers at the time who is another LA artist going, into their own song which was a huge hit at the time in the local scene! All at the current-relevant time when both songs came out in the city where they came out by local artists! Fucking phenomenal! Frusciante’s solo and tone here is amazing! He’s easily one of my favourite guitarists! Great tone, feel and note choice! Always consistent! But then the same is true for Flea and Chad! 😍🤩🥰🤍🤘🏽🌀🙏🏽🩸”
