Hearing someone talk about themselves the way he did is really upsetting because he was a hero for the people he helped that night, surrounded by body parts and corpses, and all he can feel to do is blame himself for not being more brave when there's no way he could have possibly done more. The father who's now in a wheelchair is clearly also very traumatised from the way he very matter of factly says that his daughter was dying in front of him and he was powerless to help her, that so many others were already dead, so flat and emotionless. That's trauma too. Noting that one person is clearly haunted doesn't mean that nobody else is or can be. That would be absurd. This was my first ever concert, aged 17. Thank God I managed to get out safe. I remember how when the bomb went off, the parents were telling their kids it was nothing to worry about. I initially thought it was a balloon because giant pink balloons were released and after we heard the screams from the other side of the arena I thought it was a gun. Luckily my friend and I managed to get out quickly and safely. I remember the smell of fireworks and seeing a man look frozen whilst his head was bleeding thinking it was from falling from the stampede. I told my family to put on the news as they didn’t believe me when I got home and said an explosion happened. A few moment later they confirmed it was a terror attack 😣 it will haunt me forever but thank God everyday my friend and I was safe 🙏🏼 rip to the 22 who weren’t as lucky 🥺

The instinct to think that terrifying sounds couldnt possibly happen to you is a dangerous one. I remember watching video on here of that gunman who shot all those people from that casino in Las Vegas, and SO MANY people that heard gunfire, didnt really react, and ended up getting shot. While I understand panicking over every little sound is dangerous in itself, and the confusion of a situation like that is real, I think one positive thing that needs to come from events like these, as absurd as it sounds, is to have a plan whenever you go somewhere where theres a lot of people. Know your exits, and which direction they are in, and if you hear a boom, or anything that sounds like gunfire, get down and find cover.
These things can happen to ANYONE. Thats the sad state that this world is in nowadays, and sadly, I think its only going to happen more frequently.

With the rampant Islamophobia in our current culture, I think Usman's story here is so important- he's a Muslim himself expressing that he believes true Islamic values are to be helping people. And the mother is so right about blaming the organizations behind these attacks. I feel so much for all of these survivors, I used to go to lots of concerts and this kind of thing never crossed my mind back then. We need more direct, effective action against terrorism, and also for the people in power to work harder at mitigating the tensions that move people to become terrorists in the first place.

My ♥️ aches for the victims & their families. & Usman, being there in that moment was not a coincidence. It doesn't alleviate the pain but people like you remind us that there are genuinely good people in this 🌏

Honestly the most powerful video I have ever watched on youtube, I remember this so well from the news but hearing the first hand accounts is something else. Fully sobbing listening to them. Good job, Ladbible.

Just watching this and the footage of what we are told is the entrance to the arena, is not the entrance to the arena. This is some other place. If you stand outside the arena entrance doors, glass doors, you face a wall, not according to this footage. And even when you enter, turn to the left, it opens up and is again different than here. We are being conned.
