One thing i will say is as a Muslim i believe that some of these "missed opportunities" weren't actually missed at all. Sometimes security and police are scared to take action on certain individuals because if they do they might be accused of being a racist etc, like they do when they enforce the stop and search, this is one of the dangers that have been created by these people who always use the race card and discrimination claims. We never actually talk about this in the UK and i think it should be spoken of more often personally.

I’ve also worked for my country’s airline where I’ve been paid to “smuggle” fake bombs through airport security, and every time they spotted the issue as I continued walking on and they were approached by their supervisor who put me in the line. This. Is. Avoidable.
What needs to be done is stadiums need to actually staff correctly so they can have five or six guards just for bags and two or four for pat downs, and they need electronic scanning equipment.

They need to be able to stop and search every person. The venue should have opened earlier and every person that entered should have been thoroughly searched before being allowed to enter.
But it should go further than that. They should have the authority to stop and search anybody, anywhere. How many lives could be saved if that was the case? I dont care about my right to privacy when compared to the rights of everyone being safe.
If I go to a football or cricket match and have a bag or backpack, I EXPECT it to be examined. Random checks should be allowed everywhere, even on the streets, train stations, shops etc. It takes but 30 seconds.
I would also have more CCTV and more people monitoring suspicious activity. The loss of life at any public event is tragic and to ensure it never happens again, or at least reduce the risk, then give the police and security personnel the right to search everyone without even the need for suspicion. Perhaps the police and security officers need better training but whatever it is, the public need protection so something like this never happens again

i wouldnt say prevented, because nothing is stopping the man from exploding the bomb as soon as police or a security guard confronts him. Although it would definetly reduce the injuries it is not there job, the man shouldnt have been allowed in the countries and he should have been stopped well before he walked into an arena full of people with the only suspicion being a large backpack

The fact was that they went missing for TWO hours and the British Transport Police has actually now apologised for it but this just shows what a joke this country is when it comes to security as I rarely see a police car when I once used to see many police officers walking the streets, I wonder whether the security would have been better in London
