Edit: I haven’t thought much about its elements/ailments utilization but I imagine it having a disk shaped tongue tip (bear with me) that’s coated with a paralytic agent, it’s generally “flaccid” but becomes stiff when the tongue muscles are tensed, the monster can then dislocate two bones located on the sides of the inside of its mouth to press hard on the disk from both sides and launch its stretchy long disk shaped paralytic tongue into its prey. Edit 2: the monster has no limbs (unlike Najarala) and so it generally crawls, but it can also secrete a slimy slippery substance through openings on the side of its body that allow for faster movement, this is only utilized when the monster deems it necessary (ie when it critically injured and needs to escape or when it’s fighting other predators and strong adversaries)

My favorite is Valstrax because everything about him is so unique and cool. The fight is so memorable because your hitting him and then the sound of the jet wings warming up then boom he’s gone. It’s just so cool and so memorable and he will always have a special place.
For me, I'm a basic guy, my favorite is Rathalos. I came over from FFXIV and was introduced to MH through the level 70 Trial. I also might have spent way too much time farming up the Rathalos mount.
I started with the first Monster Hunter, but Tigrex and Nargacuga were probably my favourite flagships for the longest time. They were just so different going from 1st gen to 2nd. The movement and abilities were just unlike everything that came before.
My top 3 are Malzeno, Nirgigante and Seregios. Allow them were fun fights in my opinion. I remember the first time Malzeno disappeared on me it was the perfect reveal as I was doing an aerial charge with my IG just for it to teleport out of harm's way and swiftly counter. Out of the 3 mentioned though only the Nirgigante variant Ruiner Nirgigante gives me a real problem.
We're the same, started in MH freedom and bought it for the same reason, as a kid, I love the idea of combining both apex predator into one (tiger + t-rex), I even put tigrex in my top 5 fav. monsters of all time when I was a kid, but that list changed, my current favorite flagship monster is zinogre.
You and I both began in MHF2 and I went through the same thing, didn't enjoy how tough it was to fight so I put it down for a few months only to come back and then Monster Hunter just became one of my favourite game series as well. I'd have to say that Glavenus would be my favourite flagship monster very closely followed by Gore, and I agree that it is more enjoyable when they design a monster outside of the wyvern/dragon base type. I,e Ahtal-Ka or Dalamadur
It’s good to see that Arekkz’s reason for loving Tigrex is the same exact reason for why I love Diablos. Such a beautifully difficult monster that absolutely destroyed me my first time playing World and it didn’t make it any better knowing it made the best Charge Blade at the time so it was almost as if it was taunting me. lol I love this series and with Rise coming out on game pass this week I’m hoping to finally be able to get my friends to see the best part about Monster Hunter.
Mhw was my first and saw the star difficulty of charge blade and said let’s do it 😂I’ll never forget the rath that comes in the beginning and I’m thinking it’s some legendary monster just to learn it was a basic monster. So I have a soft spot because it was a good first impact and intro into the game. And I really didn’t know charge blade for real until a month before iceborne and I learned you could charge your shield 😭no guide learning was rough.
Been playing since the original and although Rathalos will always hold a special place in my heart (12 year old me was so excited to finally kill him), my favourite flagship has to be Nergigante. Everything about it from its appearance, the theme music and its moveset is brilliant. The fight as a whole is challenging whilst also being so much fun.
Would love to see more bug type monster and a bug type Flagship could be amazing with how unique almost every bug type is. From Seltas Queen being a battle ship to the Magnet using Gundam builder of Ahtal-Ka. Spiders being both a swinging ailment inflictor like Nerscylla to wide ranged attacks with mini spider babies as weapons with Rakna Kadaki
Capcom always come up with unique and awesome flagship monsters for their monster hunter series and I'm excited to see what they come up with for the next mh game😁
Thanks for making this video! i recently just searched all the flagship monsters on every monster hunter game hahaha but it hits different if the youtuber you liked, made the video. :D Keep up the great work, Arekkz!
My favorite flagship monsters are Tigrex, Seregios, Glavenus, Nergigante, and Valstrax. Fun hunts with them and love hunting them. Just love their aesthetics and design along with their weapons and armor sets. I started my first MH game with MHF2 so I'm a long time veteran of the whole franchise. So nostalgic and I can't wait til the next game for next gen for what they have in store for us! Happy hunting everyone! Monster Hunter will never die!
My favourite flagship is Zinogre. Looks tamer than the rest but fierce when fighting. Also, if we count Explore then the Nef Garamudo is awesome. An Elder Dragon whose capabilities deal with sand, crystal, and desert twister
It amazing, everyone talking about their history in their world. My favorite was Nergigante. The epic battle I had seeing my old rival and we clashing our blades! What history we had!
Other Flagships : "You are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of flagship." Diablos (shocked, looking at Bloodbath in disbelief) : "What? How can you do this ? This is outrageous ! It's unfair !"
I started with 3u and didn't know what I was doing. Especially with the skill system. Luckily, I found an awesome group that helped explain different mechanics. We still play together to this day, although not always on a mh game. I'd say my favorite flagship would be Brachydios though, even though I got tired of hunting him to get all his gear.
My favorite has and probably always will be lagicrus. I love the underwater leviathan cobra thing it has going on. And the feeling of fighting it underwater where you truly felt like you were fighting it in it's domain. Chef's kiss. It's a shame it really hasn't shown up since generations. Would love to see it come back.
I had the exact same experience getting into the series. I started with GenU on DS, saw the game, looked cool, remembered it on PSP but barely touched it. Tried it, hated it, a few months later tried it again out of boredom and now I have insane hours in genu, world and rise
Zinogre is my favourite flagship monster as I also started my Monster Hunter journey at Portable 3rd. Beating down Zinogre for the 1st time also proves that I have overcome the fear of hunting even harder monsters even with a lack of understanding of the game with low tier gear for my first MH game. Also who doesn't love Super Saiyan Wolf
My favourite is definitely Tigrex. It's just so raw, pure and genuinely interesting to fight because it's so aggressive and barely leaves you any room to breathe. Though as someone who started the series with the very first Monster Hunter back in the day, Rathalos will always have a special place in my trophy room. I'd love to see the next flagship be something radically different. Maybe an arachnid, like a titanic 9-tailed scorpion with wings or some crazy shit like that.
I started with 4U and to this day. Gore Magala is Mt favorite monster. I love the unknown monster type as well as its frenzy virus and evolution into elder dragon. Close second has to go to Glavenus, specifically the Hellblade Deviant variant. Absolutely lived climbing the ranks to get its maxed out armor and its explosive nature.
3:28 my dad bought me the first version of monsyer hunter (2004) when i was a kid and he said it was a dinosaur game. i never knew i would grow up playing monster hunter
Nergigante hold a special place for me because it's with him I learned how to properly play with GunLance and I never stopped, it completely took over as my favorite weapon from Chargblade
I started playing when i was a kid and monster hunter 3 ultimate was the newest title. Lagiacrus was my favorite monster and still is one of my tops but id have to say number 1 is gore magala, followed by valstrax, nergigante, safijiva and xenojiva. All extremely cool monsters with fun fights
I started with generation 1 on the PSP, monster hunter portable! It's really amazing how far the series have come. My favorite flagship monster of all time is the Rathalos! I remember first fighting him on the portable and he had this, blind spot under him when he flies. It was such a tedious fight.
I like learning/remembering about these things, because i am a big big huge fan of MH. I loved it when i started MH with Freedom Unite, but i never beat it and never played any game after that either. Until World came out on PS4 that's when i got hooked again. Now i'm playing through Rise on the PC i got 2 years ago. Cannot wait for a new generation of MH. I might need to upgrade my PC...
4U player here, Gore/Shagaru Magala is my rival and my best friend. Anytime he shows up, I immediately have more fun. Nergigante was nice too, but I feel was overshadowed by Xeno, Velk, and Ishvala
Personally my favorite is Nergigante, it was the first MH game I played and I absolutely love his lore about how one to multiple of them are basically existing to kill elder dragons and keep the ecosystem correct
Gore Magala is my favorite, easily. Not only my favorite flagship, but my favorite monster in the entire series; its just so cool, and it helps that MH4 had the best story in the entire series to back up the hype of the beast
Nargacugar, because it was my first but also the thrill of hunting a thing that is like a ninja cat is just pure thrilling no matter how many times I fight them 😌
Started off with mhfu with my trusty psp who's still working after more than a decade. Narga is still my favorite until now. Seeing him in world in full HD beauty felt like being a kid again. It was like seeing an old friend the way it was glaring at me more clearly in world. Beautiful baby.
World was my first monster Hunter game and I loved it. Up until nergigante, my favorite monster was rathalos. Nergigante was a beast, fast, super aggressive, and it’s weapons and armor set were pretty gnarly. Come iceborne, I didn’t care for velkana that much as I did shrieking legiana (cuz it was a beautiful monster to fight) and zinogre. Both monsters had awesome armor sets but for weapons, shrieking legiana had (in my opinion) the coolest longsword design. For Rise/Sunbreak, magnamolo is a lot of fun to fight, but for me, I love fighting lunagaron.
This brings back so many memories. I played monster hunter 3 ultimate when I was around 13 (about 11 years ago come to think of it) and I remember trying to grind for a brachydios weapon set (that slime buff was so OP back then). I started with rise again (came to game pass) and I genuinely miss fighting the brachydios (and the PTSD from deviljho)
I'm just a World-babby but hot damn if Nergigante isn't an amazing monster. One of my favourite fights in that game, even if he kicks my ass occasionally.
The Gore Magala was my fav based on the story and it's lore. Loved the second form also as that final battle if I recall correctly, it turned like a white color. Otherwise, I'd love to see more random animal monsters. We've had those insects like that Hercules beetle and even those large spiders. It'd be really cool to see other types of giant animals. Maybe even a giant rat of some sort haha Ohhhh yeaaahhh we need more map sized monsters! like that giant serpent that wraps around a mountain. I miss fights like that. I want a monster so big that it makes our hits feel insignificant hahaha
World was my introduction to the series, and after about 3 hunts I knew I'd found one of my new, favorite franchises! As of now, my favorite Flagship monsters are Nergigante, Valstrax, Zinogre and Glavanus.
Monster Hunter World was my first MH, which is made even more special by the fact I love fighting Nergigante. He actually made me quit the game for a bit & I had my friend kill him for me; then I went onto play countless more hours than my friend & proceeded to really enjoy killing Nergigante with the hammer. It's really satisfying to break his horns & spikes off. I love that he doesn't rely on annoying aoe elemental attacks like most Elder Dragons. Really looking forward to playing Rise on Friday. I would love to see something like a scorpion, crab or salamander.
I joined the Great Hunt very late. A friend from the Navy told me about MH: World and I couldn't help but be impressed. After spending 2-hours straight practicing the charge blade (and watching Arekkz in a tutorial vid), chopped, slashed, and SAED my way to endgame. Not long after, I started looking at monsters from older MH titles, and was probably most eager for Zinogre, Deviljho, and Gore Magala (Thanks to TDS making that monster size comparison video), so I'm super stoked that I've gotten to fight all of them in beautiful 4k. I'm a big fan of Capcom's games (Lost Planet, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Dragon's Dogma, MegaMan) so I'm glad to have had the experience!
i would love to have a hydra elder dragon where u fight each head by it's self having one element and when he's about to die he just surfaces from underground with all heads
Started with 4U, and although Gore has a wonderful spot in my heart as being one of the main monsters to get me into buying the game (other being Lagombi because bunny :3).. I have to say that I love Mizustune a bit more. Excited to reach it in Rise! (just hit 3 Star as I started playing earlier this month)
My favourite flagship and Favourite monster of all time, goes straight to the gore Magala without hesitation, it was this era that got me as into the games as I am now, although I did start at freedom unite, leaving the nargacuga with nostalgia points
Started on Freedom on psp, put the most time into unite clocked in about 700 hrs on that game!! Loved Narga, would love to see Lao Shan come back in 4k
Fun fact about Nergi. During the first fight on top of Zorah Magdaros if you poison him at the right time he'll have the poison dripping from his mouth during the cutscene.
I got here in Monster Hunter Tri with the pro controller bundle on my Wii. God I loved Lagiacrus. Most hours I've ever played in single games is by far Monster Hunter games.
My most memorable monster is propably Yian Kut ku because he caused me a lot of problem back in MHU(I think) back in the days. I was still a kid and I struggled so hard to kill that sob and managed to kill it after maybe more than 50 tries. My favorite tho is Rajang. I love to fight him because his body is the most similar to a human. It’s so fun to fight him
I've always love insect or primate momsters so it'll be cool if we get a flagship monster who falls under that. Or at the very least different from the usual wyvern
my first game was 3ultimate on wii u; bought it on a whim and was instantly addicted. I love Lagi, i Love Brachy, I love gore magala, I love Magnamalo and Malzeno; i didnt play GU but i have it and intend to play so my first intro to valstrax was Rise. I would have to say my fave is probably Lagiacrus. Its just so unique and amazing. For one I want to see, my favorite animal is the peregrine falcon, hawl, and eagle; and I know Valstrax is a falcon-like creature but more regal bird wyverns would be neat to see. (Not goofy ones like the ones we have). Something inspired by the phoenix would be really cool; a regal, noble but imposing bird elder dragon to go toe to toe with the dragon elder dragons like Fatalis. A variant could be like the thunder bird of north american indigenous folklore. and like a dragon element Stygian/Hellfire Phoenix or something. (also some more sea creatures like squids and more insects...so much potential)
Lagiacrus will hold a special place in my MH heart since tri was my first and they have yet to bring it back in a suiting way, but I still hold out hope
I'm a moga hunter and I'd really like under water combat to return so another leviathan flagship or a whole other underwater species that carries another flagship
Should do a video on all time favorite (non mixed) monster set. Mine would have to be the original seregios. Great skills, and then the weapons sharpen (or reload) automatically every time you dodge?! Too awesome
Gore is my favorite, and I see a lot of people sharing the same favorite flagship, yet everyone’s opinion is interesting Gore has been the flagship of a game I truly loved and lived
I started my MH journey with world, not having access to a Nintendo handheld for many years. Loved the game and grabbed rise recently for PS. I would say between the two, Magnamalo over Nergigante for me. I'm interested in the Sunbreak flagship one as well. Top 3 monsters from World might have to be Odogaron, Rathalos, and Kirin. So far in Rise I like Magnamalo, Mizutsune, Zinogre, and Nargacuga.
I hope we get Nergigante in Sunbreak 2 or 3 title updates to go, fingers crossed. Can you imagine dual quest with ruiner nergigante and scorned magnamalo.
As much as I agree with you I feel like magnamalo is the sole reason we won’t get nergigante in sunbreak. But that means he can come in mh6 instead which I am all for
love all the flagships, most are my favs but my least probably azure rath also love it when a flagship is just pure strength, not a dragon, no element, ailment, anime reference, transformation etc
My personal favorite is Nergigante. I started with 4U, but Nergigante had that ruthless warrior feel about him. No tricks, no energies or breath attacks, just straight up strength, savagery, and skill. A badass, through and through.

Yes I think it's time we get a flagship from a monster group that doesn't have one yet, with the bugs being the one I want to see the most.
Capcom always come up with unique and awesome flagship monsters for their monster hunter series and I'm excited to see what they come up with for the next mh game😁
I started in Mhfu. But my favorite flagship is Zinogre from portable 3rd. His fight, your first encounter with him, and his old-world OST
Rise is also Old World, you know
Glavenus is my boi 😍
He will never lose his place as my number 1 favorite Monster in the franchise !
He is really cool. And his armor was sick in cross
I would be absolutely ecstatic if the next flagship monster is a Temnoceran that would be so cool!
Other Flagships : "You are on this council, but we do not grant you the rank of flagship."
Diablos (shocked, looking at Bloodbath in disbelief) : "What? How can you do this ? This is outrageous ! It's unfair !"
How can you be on the council and not be a flagship? This has never been done in the history of the council. It’s embarrassing.
Meanwhile, Espinas is sleeping in the corner
He's Actually a Flagship in MHGU with Bloodbath Diablos alongside Valstrax so It's fine lmao
I remember farming the pallium solo....uff
Hearing your origin story as a hunter brought a tear to my eye.
Gore magala has to be my favorite. That fight when he transforms was iconic for me
Zinogre is my favourite flagship monster as I also started my Monster Hunter journey at Portable 3rd.
I just want the next game's flagship to be a snake wyvern tbh
REAL
nergigante is such a intimidating dragon.
also my favorite beast is Shara Ishvalda, that fight was DOPE
3:28 my dad bought me the first version of monsyer hunter (2004) when i was a kid and he said it was a dinosaur game. i never knew i would grow up playing monster hunter
Nergigante hold a special place for me because it's with him I learned how to properly play with GunLance and I never stopped, it completely took over as my favorite weapon from Chargblade
Man i´m gonna miss that intro!
Valstrax will always be my Favourite. Very memorable monster design
I started with World and I fell in love with Valstrax; half of the reason I picked up MHGU was to fight Valstrax. Such a badass design and fight.
Nergigante and Malzeno, both dark and badass. 💯😎👍
Nargacugar, because it was my first but also the thrill of hunting a thing that is like a ninja cat is just pure thrilling no matter how many times I fight them 😌
Love the spellings in the timestamps haha. My favourites have always been Zinogre, Valstrax and Nergigante.
For me it's gotta be Lagiacrus. My first one was 3 on the Wii and Lagiacrus left quite the impression on me. I hope he returns to the mainline games.
Brachy is in Iceborne. There even is a variant that has 1 of the best fights in the game
I started playing with Lagi, and my favorite monster that also happens to be a flagship is Astalos
I'm just a World-babby but hot damn if Nergigante isn't an amazing monster. One of my favourite fights in that game, even if he kicks my ass occasionally.
I started in MHW but going back to play some of the older generations, mizu is now my all time favorite
What I'd like for a flagship monster is some sort of insect/bug. Like a mantis, wasp, ant, mosquito or hell even a ladybug
Maybe even a giant rat of some sort haha
Ohhhh yeaaahhh we need more map sized monsters! like that giant serpent that wraps around a mountain.
Now i want to see a vid of the "true" final bosses of each game
How do you speak about Nargacuga and don't mention his roar!! I felt in love with it the first time I heard it, crazy beautiful sound.
I'd love to see a monster hunting game that is focused on hunting eldritch horrors with that old Lovecraft/steampunk aesthetic
i would love to have a hydra elder dragon where u fight each head by it's self having one element and when he's about to die he just surfaces from underground with all heads
nakarkos
Started with 4U, and although Gore has a wonderful spot in my heart as being one of the main monsters to get me into buying the game (other being Lagombi because bunny :3).. I have to say that I love Mizustune a bit more. Excited to reach it in Rise! (just hit 3 Star as I started playing earlier this month)
My favourite flagship and Favourite monster of all time, goes straight to the gore Magala without hesitation, it was this era that got me as into the games as I am now, although I did start at freedom unite, leaving the nargacuga with nostalgia points
Alex! 🥲
Started on Freedom on psp, put the most time into unite clocked in about 700 hrs on that game!! Loved Narga, would love to see Lao Shan come back in 4k
The Pukei Pukei will always be my personal flagship monster. I love my big googly-eyed boi ❤️
1st generation is where I started and loved it ever since.
I started at the original. I remember head locking rathalos for plates. Good times
Rathalos are still my favorite, the fear when he's coming while doing egg quest on MH1 really makes me love-hating him
my first game was 3ultimate on wii u; bought it on a whim and was instantly addicted.
I still remeber when I got mhf2 on psp and now I have a lifelong obsession with a videogame
Too awesome
Gore is my favorite, and I see a lot of people sharing the same favorite flagship, yet everyone’s opinion is interesting
Gore has been the flagship of a game I truly loved and lived
I will always be terrified of my first flagship monster. The Tigrex.
But that means he can come in mh6 instead which I am all for
love all the flagships, most are my favs but my least probably azure rath
also love it when a flagship is just pure strength, not a dragon, no element, ailment, anime reference, transformation etc
I am original MH player, I used to play it on the PS2 with an ethernet cable in middle school
Gore Malala and Zinogre were my favorite monsters they had such good armor and weapons
ive played monster hunter 3rd fan translated...... it was awesome seeing zinogre for the first time
i started at World, i like Neri so much.. but then i bought MHGU on Switch (before iceborne release) and instantly fell in love with Glavenus..
I hope in the future, Capcom would make a bird wyvern, amphibian, or temnoceran/neopteron flagship
