I would have bought one, but now I am not getting either. With trade-in ipad of 150 Euros, the 11" 256 gb version of the non-nanotech I get for 1600 Euros with applecare and pencil, the 11" 1tb version with nanotech would cost me like 2700 with applecare and pencil after tradein. LMAO, Apple are insane.
Nano 100% the way to go if your outside even 10% of total time with device. Especially if your sharing a screen with someone, nothing worse than just staring at the person next to you via screen reflection, horrible experience if you dont go nano. Nano takes every reflection away and leaves screen beautiful
At first I was definitely going with the traditional display because you know… OLED. But when I tried it out at the store (mind you i didn’t notice it was the nano texture because I thought it was the standard display because it didn’t look like my idea of a matte display (like paper like), I kept going back to the nano texture for the pencil experience. Hands down it’s what I’m going to get.
At 7:20 you can see the difference perfectly. The glossy will have a worse direct reflection but a way better sweetspot. If you move the matte and the glossy under a light, they will both have glare. But if you move the glossy 1 inch to the left, it will have 0 glare. The matte however will have 70% glare still. Then another inch will bring it down to 69% glare and so on. You’ll never have a clear screen with the matte but your glare will never make it unusable. With glossy, you’ll sometimes have an unusable glare at the worst case scenario but you can get rid of it way easier by just moving it 2 degrees in another direction and have a screen way clearer than the matte will ever give you

@@michealadebz That is a pretty tiresome response. I think you kinda snooze-read my post. It just doesn't look better colour-wise than what panel makers can achieve with LCD + mini LED, and in terms of an actual technical evaluation of colour accuracy vs previous mini LED has to my knowledge not been made by any publication as of yet. If they've configured the non-reference mode to show more colors or not this time around, while sad if they leave out accuracy for vibrancy, is a bit of a different matter. But no, if it looks better or not (outside reference) is actually subjective. I would say the blooming of the previous iteration (that could have been improved upon like on the MBP) certainly knocks it down a peg, but I was responding here to a video that praises colour, hence my focus on the subject. In the future, expect LCDs to stay around in the high-end and be just as good as OLED. In those cases where not every millimeter matters. You must not want to take your ipad outside then, as the nano texture destroys the glossy. I have had a glossy ipad pro mounted on the dash of your f-150 for years and it has a textures screen protector to diffuse the light, didnt realize how shitty it was until i throw up my new nano ipad pro. Holy shit does it block out all reflections making the screen so much more useful. Way better than those matte screen protectors if you think you can add one of those later and get the same results

He said - it’s literally one of the best displays on Earth, comparable only to reference units costing 10 times as much. It has to be seen to be believed. It’s that good. And yea. The glossy is the way to go. The extra brightness is enough of a boost for me to be used outdoors, and I’m with your colleague - the nano texture kills the black levels, which is a regressive step, to my mind. It just looks more premium without it, too.
I returned the nano Texture because… it was too harsh to my eyes. In sunlight/outdoors is fantastic for visibility (except for the edges, that are super glossy!), however indoors the PWM was too much and the quality of the video inferior compared to the other model. The blacks are not bad indoors, only with a lot of reflection, in which case the blacks turn dark gray but perfectly visible. Indoors, and in general use, I had a strange eye fatigue which doesn’t happen with any other device (including the M4 glossy).
I got the standard screen 1tb. Apple has the best anti reflective gloss displays. Worth it for the extra ram alone. No regrets. Nano looks washed out and negatively affects oleds best qualities. I might feel differently if I used a pencil. Just wish it was waterproof - Samsungs are 😂
Annoying video that doesn't really offer any new insight, or even a good comparison.
