I grew up in Jamaica in the early sixties and seventies and I've never seen trains, its so good to see the railway system being in operation and seeing the beautiful countryside long may it continue 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏🏿🙏🏿
I used to take the train from Kingston and from Spanish Town to go visit my grand-parents when I was a kid. Sadly, this service was discontinued shortly after the relaunch.
Where in ja you come from because I can also remember taking the Train to st James you did have a choice from downtown Kingston or Spanish Town one for my best memory has a child I still remind my mom about it until this day
This brings back a lot of memories for me traveling from Kingston to Balaclava. I am praying that one day the train from Kingston to Montego Bay will be back
Passenger Railway (train line) established - USA 1830, Canada 1836 and Jamaica 1845; great accomplishment for a small nation even though a British Colony at the time, and just 20 years after Britain got it's own rail system into operation.
Seeing this fills me with so much joy. These were my absolute best childhood memories. I'm so glad they started it up again , I can only pray for a chance to experience it once more. Thank you so very much for sharing this video.
If you build a high speed passenger rail line across Jamaica with train running at 300/km/h, it will take you from Kingston to Montego Bay within less than 40 minutes!
I TRUST public safety is a concern in thus development...open tracks running bdhind your back yard Fen ci g..walls to stop people wondering unto track .
I have seen the thumbnail to this video on your channel and on youtube many times and i am just watching it. Awesome train video i'll watch part 2 soon.
I really miss this place, land of my birth. I haven't been home in 45 years. I'm coming back. I hope I get to see all my friends that I left behind and never wrote to. Not only am I ashamed to admit this but it grieves my soul too.
Luv the scenery. ..but those babies were making me a bit nervous, hanging out the windows on a moving, bumpy train ride .but they seemed to be excited and enjoying the ride :-)
Throwing garbage out the train window , is the first thing i noticed. Smh😟. I remember train trips from Kingston to Denbigh farm Fair as a young school child
@JamKick I agree with you 100%...I just don't know why so many Jamaicans don't like to take care of our environment. You see the same thing when you go to the coastal areas.
Hopefully Mr Henry will introduce passenger service between Montego Bay and Montpelier. That would be a second source of revenue for the railroad to help fund rebuilding the entire system.
Watching this video I love seeing the greenery but it saddens me seeing my people living so poor.. All over the world my people are the most poor.. We need to come together and call out to father God!! He will hear or r prayers if we call out to him... Can these dry bones live?!?
No ja government makes way fir all ti succeed...many people are lazy sbd have no vision...the government has housing but u need a basic jib and sone people too proud to work. Don't deceive ur self majority of the country looks nothing like this...if u go to these dame people and offer then work some might come others won't, the ones that do come Will show up late or don't show up at all. They will chase ur customers awat because they lack people skills and u cant give then constructive criticism ir they either cuss u out, fight u or shoot u. So don't blame our government, Jamaicans who want yi succeed has the opportunity to.
But if they insist the old system won't work it is modern time and if we doesn't change certain things we're going to be dead in the past you hear that mr. prime minister we have to move forward just like you said not one project at the time like the old ways but multiple projects so we need multiple train tracks new train stations and new trains you could buy trains from America so just do it man
Rich Mck... Jamaica has had railway since 1845....The Railways of Jamaica, constructed from 1845, were the second British Colony after Canada's Champlain and St. Lawrence Railroad of 1836 to receive a railway system. It was closed in 1992, briefly reopened in 2011 but was closed down again in 2012.
Right on!! It's about time. How can we have a modern country without railroad service? Now, let's work on a nationwide, quality train system. I'm ready to donate to the cause. Are you?
why not make rail line that transport goods and people that's of some practical purpose to the people and the economy. Kingston to mobay. That brings down the price of goods, through cheaper transportation cost. Take a look at what Sankara did for his country in just four years. You can do it Jamaica!
You're right, these people think their blessing comes from the whiteman, therefore their is no need to fast and pray, have a relationship with God and use their brains. They don't comprehend the the people troughout the diaspora is their national resources, of ideas, retirement checks ( foriegn exchange), nursing homes, medical / dental tourism, remittance checks, delelopment and technological inspiration and inventions. Providing help and collaboration and policies in such enterprises to create jobs, fabricate new machines for farming, tourism, energy food sufficiency, fridgeration processing, distribution, new and innovative building materials for industries. The are just some concepts that should be keenly studied and implimented, a new way of looking outside the box. This lille island, if manage efficiently, be quite a comfortable, safe and interesting place to live, if the security situation could be mitigated, and good policies enacted, along with curbing the rampant corruption. But instead you have people selling they country to foriegners, don't careful and you will see what happen, powerful nation will bring you back into severe troubles if you take their things and can't pay them back, for you won't have the might or the power to dislodge them either. look at the bigger picture and see what is at stake. You want to play international politics, you're a small fish in a pond of whales, you will get eaten up. Some people nerver have any international experience, nor experience in certain area of expertise but they want to make descisions in those areas, why not consult with an expert, seek good counsel. I am amazed at the folly, risking the future of a nation.
Hurt my heart to see the amount of garbage we throw out the windows. We are killing the environment with garbage. Truly wish the govt. would put some tough measures in place to stop it. Too nasty man.
Well no let's see if the train come back that mean it's going to provide job 4 people on the other hand it will take away jobs from people like the bus and taxi people
The most corrugated roofing I have ever seen in my life, Where do they get all those roofing from? They can't all come from demolish houses, they must be buying roofing just to use as fencing
Marjorie Lewis but are conforming what I saying, are they purchase new and use for fencing instead of roofing? or they coming from demolish old houses?
I wish to God they would abolish XZink fences especially in our cities and towns I kno people r poor, but also a lot goes on behind these fences use them for participants but if u has nothing to hide open up to the eyes, it u live into a little house u don't have to hide in it,it's no disgrace ,the city Zink fence in front yard look primitive. Ask for help and gov should put a nice front fence, stop hide crime.
Its joy to see the train moving

Lots of things i don't no about my country Jamaica this is interesting
So this is the type of train we want to use in the 21st century.
I rode on from Portland to Spanish town back in the 70's
It would be great to have some modern electric trains... But Ja needs a serious private investor to accomplish such a feat.
YEppP! same train
Hello. Nice to see the trains working again for the public in Jamaica. What was the average speed that this loc reached?
Thank you for the ride. Blessed
You're welcome!
Why those kids are allowed to put their heads outside?

why not make rail line that transport goods and people

Kingston to mobay. That brings down the price of goods, through

Jamaica needs a person with a vision for such a rail system to make it happen.

There used to be. This revived service didn't last very long.
So why the children head outside???

The British built the railway in Jamaica to get its exploited goods to harbours.
remind me of Malaysia niceeeeee
Hurt my heart to see the amount of garbage we throw out the windows. We are killing the environment with garbage. Truly wish the govt. would put some tough measures in place to stop it. Too nasty man.
