My Father was on that fatal train wreck sitting in the last coach with his friends he was 19 yrs old and I was just 3 wks old. He told me the entire story how it all went down from the time the train left Kingston and to it's final destination many many years later only because he had migrated to a foreign country two years after the incident occurred and how he and his friends were able to make it back to Kingston. People were very rowdy, drinking, making a lot of noises, singing out loudly and carrying on with their respective partners. He also told me that he had asked my mother (they are both the same age) to go with him and she told him no because she had a young baby to look after good thing she did. Sometimes when I look back at the whole thing I just consider myself to be a very blessed individual (Amen)
@NormanFleure-dk3pu You are so right. Mr George is probably happier than many of us living in modern houses and drowning in bills. And let's not forget that Mr George house is still standing after so many hurricane that passed through Jamaica.
I was a student at St Anne's school. Missed the train because I was late, so I watched it leaving me on the train station platform in Kingston. Than God.
I was 10 yo. I was also a student and church member of St. Anne's. We did not go because there was an upcoming wedding and my mother said we couldn't afford it. My eldest brother went. I think it has scarred him for life. He walked among the casualties. Many of his friends died. We never forget. May they be at peace.
I knew a lady who told me about being on the train when it crashed, she was only five years old. I noticed while handing her a cup of tea her hands would shake quite bad. She said all her family did was dust her down and walked off, she was never asked if she was hurt and suffered for the rest of her life.
My dad was a patient in the hospital , he had a dislocated shoulder, he saw and heard the injured people from the Kendal Crash came to the hospital also, he say they were a lot of screaming and crying all night there, he never forgot that ! So sad tgst happened and crying
The Kendal crash was organised by St Anne's Church in 1957..St Anne's school, North Street and Bond Street, my junior school, lost so many children, my brother should have been on that train, but my granny was waiting for permission from our parents in the UK for him to go..it didn't arrive in time for the trip..I can remember that day as clear as yesterday..I lost some of my school friends..May their souls continue to rest in peace 67 years on🙏
Hi: I worked in Christiana in the late 70s and early 80s and I used to take the train sometimes from Kingston and come off at Kendal and take a minibus to Christiana. So I am familiar with the Kendal Stop.
I know that you want to get the information from Mass George but please help him to fix his house. The house is in a deplorable condition. Please help him to get the house repair. Food for The Poor can assist.
God is great all the time my mother and father witnessed this Kendall's train crash they were going to Kingston and when they reached near by it was terrible cayous crying yelling bloody seens can you imagine untill this day I remember they died now but memory still linger I am now 72years old we are from Mo Bay
One of my uncles was on that train but he survived with minor injuries. They went to Dr.Coves Beach ⛱️. Another individual who was on the train told me that a lot of down town boys were on the train and on their way back began robbing the passengers and to do this they cut the light wires on the coasts to pick pockets but one individual cut a brake hose instead and we know the rest.
I was about 9 years old at the time. It didn't seem real to me because I heard so many weird stories about the incident. It's only when I got older that it was realized! Every time I passed there I'd try to ask & curiously sought out where it happened. It was a real catastrophe in Jamaica! The stories I heard that happened after, were UNBELIEVABLE!
Governments over the years is like they cant manage or maintain anything no train no air Jamaica..the JLP Govt claim they had started up the train back.how far did it go.dont think it did even reach Maypen.and it the same old train cars nothing modern.
I was in our car being driven by my Mother with my brother and sister. My mother shouted get down. Typical boy, i peeped and saw white sheets rolled up with red stains all along the side of the road from Kendall to Mandeville.
Great story.. I was a kid then, but remember the tragedy as if it were yesterday. It is said the passengers were unruly and interfered with the brake system between the third and fourth coaches. So the train could not be controlled when it tried to navigate the corner.. The first three coaches with the priests et al were not in the crash.. They traveled back to Kingston unscathed .. weeks after the crash , stories surfaced of persons taking taxis and drivers waiting outside to be paid only to be told the person perished in the crash. It was chaotic. My mom told me of another train crash years before , in St. Elizabeth. Students returning to school perished. Understand that was also terrible The railroad has had its fair share of tragedies….
We had more more than one train crash. But, this one is the worst. As a matter of fact, it was it second worst railway disaster in the world, at the time!!
Why did none of the priests got hurt cause they came off the train before it happened.it’s said the people were going on bad.satan got a lot of blood that day

That’s just horrible. The trauma she must’ve experienced. It’s pretty typical of traditional Jamaican folks to not seem to care about emotions.
@@beverleyreid7572 With due respect, can you explain "traditional Jamaican folks". please enlighten me
