That commode is very ugly ours was very ornately carved. We had 2 sets of bathrooms. The zink and wooden ones outside beside the pit toilet. We had to clean the toilet with Cardinal floor polish and coconut brush. Or melted bee wax. The outside bathroom was for the children and men after work. The inside bathroom was an enamel bath on 4 legs with a funnel like contraption with holes in it where the water descended to fill the bath. This was used by the women, the children on Sundays and special days lile Christmas, church harvest, and the men on special functions like lodge nights. The toilet was something else the flusher was a piece of iron so that made it's own noise when pulled by a chain plus the water descended into the bowl from about 6 feet high so the neighbours knew when someone used the toilet. 😂 In hindsight I guess why everyone used the latrine. Ours didn't smell much because we had easy access to white lime and moth balls were placed around the sills. Toilet paper though was a soft tissue lining used inside the brown paper that wrapped green bananas for shipping. The carton box had not yet been utilised. Bananas were packed by the bunches in the hold of the ships by stevedores. We would save the outer brown portions of the wrapping paper for friends and acquaintance who collected them for their own toilet purposes, or shop keepers who would cut them in squares and use them for wrapping goods. Hahaha! Love these videos. Memories don't leave like people do.

Back in the day's in Portland was a bus we call Tammys. The horn was very distinct. It used to pass flat grass 11am each day. It was our clock😂

Also Chins transport from Port Antonio to Golden Grove.
