Having lived in Nashville for 20+ years I have a few pros and cons to add. First off, there is no state income tax in Tennessee. Unfortunately the Nashville city council wants to raise our property taxes by 34%. If you are buying a home or condo, I would strongly suggest buying in Williamson, Sumner, or Wilson counties unless you don't mind paying higher property taxes. Nashville & Davidson County has a metropolitan government so you'll be assessed this increase (if it passes) regardless of where you live in the county. If you suffer from spring & seasonal allergies, Nashville is one of the worst places to live in the U.S. Fortunately the healthcare is top notch so you can always seek treatment if you fall in this category. Lastly, there are so many things to do with the many parks and other close weekend excursions you can enjoy. The city is also centrally located with Atlanta, Memphis, Louisville & Birmingham within a 3-4 hour drive. I really enjoy living here & thought I'd add to your list.
Dude you do know that massive tax increase is from twelve years of poor management from previous mayors. Also state wasgoing to take over our finances.
I live in Willianson co. We were lucky enough to buy 20 years ago before the housing cost spikes. We purchased at $149,000 today our home was valued at $475,000. 😮 As for allergies, 🤧 that is spot on! I used to work in an office, when someone would sneeze, we used to giggle and say “welcome to Tennessee” 😂 the docs are cleaning up.
Property taxes a lot better than Chicago and Minnesota the add up things like how large your patio is, and try tax your work shed/laundry room. North suburbs of Chicago property tax is like 40K average .

Thank you for sharing these helpful pros and cons! I have three followup questions: 1. Is it easier to rent an apartment in the suburbs of Nashville (say, Oak Hill, Brentwood) compared with downtown area? 2. Are tornadoes and floods a big concern for someone who has never experienced them before? How to choose an apartment that is tornado and flood proof? 3. Is traffic jam serious in Nashville? Do lyft or uber. I work only on the weekend and I bring in $300 easy. That alone will cover your side on rent. Apts run early $1,000- $1,400 for a small one. People here like anywhere else in cities are renting out rooms or taking in roommates to help with the pandemic setback. So finding a place to rent is really not so hard. And their are companies hiring. So their are ways to do it. U only need to get here and have at least 2 months worth of rent money. You can make it. Come down for a week and job and apt search. If you see it's not so hard to find stuff. Your good to go. Nashville itself is not expensive. Buying a home may be the issue. They sell almost as fast as they build them here right now.

Both of these import cons stand on the corner, on Broadway and lay their problems on everyone, while sipping from a bottle. I hope they're out of town, when I come to visit-great video and thanks for the valuable information.

I've nearly been hit at least 6 times in the last month. People do not care about pedestrians or cyclists. I've had the crossing signal come on and people squeal their tires and burnout just to avoid having to wait 3 seconds for me to cross. A few nights ago I was on my way home from work. it was around 10:30pm and I get the walk signal, I start walking my bike across and a guy runs a red light and turns right in front of me. Maybe you should question why you believe people in Nashville would have a problem with "diversity"! That tells me a lot about the places you get your news from and how you form your world view. I hope you leave that shit behind, because Southerners are known for their hospitality regardless of ethnicity, but don't appreciate people bringing liberal talking points into their neighbourhoods. Number 1 con should be the influx of Democrat voters who have voted the cities they left into a unpayable debt cesspools and now bring their same voting patterns to The South. So for all the things you love about Nashville/The South, please please please don't bring your baggage with you. Bring an open mind and an ability to adapt and remember the reason Nashville is so great, is NOT because of Democrat values/systems.
Moving to Nash from Seattle (born) in about a year The only thing I’ll miss about Seattle is the surrounding natural beauty, REAL mountains, forests, wilderness, lakes… Everything else here is ruined because of hard left politicians
It's not just the potholes. It's the lack of expansion and the traffic is a constant issue because we have no public transport other than some buses. No subways and no trains to get around. If someone honks their horn here at them, you get road rage shot or beat up, so don't be an impatient prick. TN does not plan ahead for the amount of people they're trying to squeeze in. I've been here my whole life, and I can tell you that native tennesseans are completely fed up with people moving here. It's really not all it's cracked up to be and the educational system is actually some of the worst outside if you aren't in Nashville or Franklin, but every city around here is overcrowded now and causing all natives to be more pissed off and ready to shoot or beat up aggressive drivers
You said the word “ABSOLUTELY” 31 times. I counted 😂 but yeah, come hang out in Nashville, but please stop moving here. Traffic and housing have gotten ridiculous and unbearable!
I'd rather get advice from "newbies" than from locals because they share a similar perspective with other potential "newbies" looking to move to the region.
People are nice, but can’t drive. The infrastructure is the worst I’ve ever seen, its getting overcrowded and the 1940’s infrastructure can’t handle the population, the rolling blackouts during winter are fun. This place is way overrated and I don’t see why people move here, the cost of living is going up every day so you really don’t save money, the southern hospitality is slowly going away as it gets overcrowded. The weather sucks here, it rains a lot and tornadoes are no joke here. This place is way overrated don’t move here.

Man stfu😂
Yup take y’all asses back to California
So true!
Everything the democrats touch turns to Sh*t
The only cons is the state has a RepubliKKKan infestation. Time to fumigate the whole state.
Drink every time he says absolutely
Just had a drink for you. Cheers
Say absolutely one more time 😁
Absolutely
Moving to Nash from Seattle (born) in about a year
The only thing I’ll miss about Seattle is the surrounding natural beauty, REAL mountains, forests, wilderness, lakes…
Everything else here is ruined because of hard left politicians
Stay and fix your problems.
"The roads are terrible"
*laughs in Yinzer (Pittsburghese)*
Our city is essentially potholes connected via bridges. I think I can handle it.
Thanks for the laugh 😂
It was the word of the day 😂
Ab-so-lutely
Go back to California and fix your mess. Don't come here and make another mess
How’s everyone in Nashville feeling from all the Kardashians moving into town from California? Don’t let them corrupt your southern hospitality! 😂
Potholes that will FLATTEN your tires!
Happened to me the first week here lol
Try living in Michigan. We have potholes that will total your car lmao
Welcome to Nashville, newbie. That makes you an expert huh?
Hahah Thanks for the welcome. But it’s funny how expert never came out of my mouth. Hope you have a better rest of your day 😊
I'd rather get advice from "newbies" than from locals because they share a similar perspective with other potential "newbies" looking to move to the region.
He's quite correct about the lousy transportation. But newbies don't know the history and most has been bulldozed. It's been brutal.
If Nashville is anything like the new so called county music they are producing I'll pass
Great. Hope have an amazing day.
Tennessee isn’t the south, it’s the Middle East of the us🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
People are nice, but can’t drive.
The tawdry lobster reportedly request because stick intialy mix minus a quirky loss. tearful, polite stone
Lies about the food. They can’t cook 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣 but the hospitality is A1. Food sucks at all the bars 🤣🤣😂
Disagree. The problem you just mentioned is food sucks at all the bars. That’s the #1 mistake you made
What is this guy smoking I'm supposed to relocate based on coffee and donuts
