- April Fools! Michael Che got his 'Weekend Update' co-anchor, Colin Jost, good on 'Saturday Night Live.' The episode happened to take place on April Fools' Day, and Michael decided to play a prank on his pal during the live broadcast.
Michael che got Colin good best April fool pranks ever😂.
When Colin said “I originally thought ‘am I not miked?’ Then I realized ‘oh, I just SUCK!’” I cried of laughter! One of the best moments of this season for sure! 😂

This was one of the BEST weekend updates EVER> Michael CHE is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DIED THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!!!!!! I knew something was wrong when he wasnt getting any laughs.
I watched SNL that night, This weekend update made me laugh out loud and just cracked me, and re watched this update multiple times since and it still makes me laugh every time.
We love when they try not to laugh but can’t help it

Honestly don't know why Colin would care since the whole bit is that he has to say the jokes Che wrote and Che has to say the jokes he wrote. The ones that came from his brain were actually getting laughs lol

I’m confused as well. This is actually really dumb. It didn’t translate well for those who weren’t there because we can still hear laughing
I will say, a lot of them did laugh. Usually they have consistent laughter, but sometimes the laughs were _really_ quiet in comparison to the reactions from Michael’s where everyone was ROARING from his funny it was. Even his joke about how he was the only one there didn’t get as many laughs as it should have. That joke was hilarious

This does look dumb though. They should’ve turned the volume of the laugh track waayyy down to show that people really weren’t laughing in the studio, but instead it sounds like laughter is only a LITTLE BIT quieter, so basically it just sounds like nothing has changed. It doesn’t make sense if they want the laughter to actually correlate with what they’re saying…

The audience members who were told not to laugh, but still laughed, kept this joke from being absolutely hilarious.
How wrong you are. If no one laughed at him, but then suddenly laughed at Che, it would've been too obvious something screwy was going on. The little bits of subdued laughter for Colin made it actually seem realistic.
Two things: 1) everyone in the audience wasn't told. The last minute additions to the audience (probably up in the balcony) were not told. The new additions were the ones laughing. 2) There are mic's to catch the different audience groups' laughter (front row, balcony, etc). So, to us, it sounds like significant laughter, but it wasn't for the performers. There in the studio, from the perspective of Jost and Che, it apparently sounded like a graveyard. Straight crickets.
