  • The time has finally come for my 3rd attempt at D Mills' 17:31 5K PB.
    I fell short the previous times with 17:40 and 17:36's respectively.
    After a few weeks of building I've had a little taper and I'm ready to try and send him to the bin at Dulwich Parkrun.
    Let's see how I do this time!

    I have confidence that your parkruns will one day be as quick as your video editing. Fear not. I too had a stinker today and walked away from parkrun in disgust. Lost the mental battle.

    I had a pretty similar experience to you last week. Ran a really good session in the week 4x(1k,400m) with the kms at around 3:24/km. Then had a 5k race where I blew up after 2k and struggled round to get 17:40. Everything just felt so much harder than it should have. I'm putting it down to just a bad day. Love the vids! Keep them up

    Chin up J Mills. A good race and showed the heart to complete it at great pace. Interval training also fails me on race day - going to try a different approach - 6km pb pace on flat treadmill once or twice a week - slowly incrementing it (in gradient/speed) as specific training. Advantage is no rests (to mimic race day) and training of the mental toughness. Intervals may have weakened the mental aspect.

    • @CrownMyRun
      @CrownMyRun  Месяц назад +1

      Cheers man, that's a very unique training method, I like it! Yeah, those sweet rests are so good aren't they, hopefully some harder tempo efforts will sort me out.

    Good running as usual! I feel like that is a pretty tough workout to run a few days before race day (in addition to the increased mileage the prior weeks) so I think you have it in the bag with a better taper

      40 minutes to run a 5k AND play chess. Stop every 250m to make a move. Obviously the faster you run, the more time you have to think of your chess move. Genius idea or gibberish?

    Id guess the 3 weeks of higher mileage, have caused some fatigue in your legs, and your taper hasnt been enough to get maximum freshness. Your HR shows you are fitter, but youll need to be race resdy to get the time you want.
