- The Queen and members of the Royal Family appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the scheduled flypast take place.
The six-minute flypast of more than 70 aircraft featured Apache helicopters, Typhoons and the Red Arrows as part of the first day of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery also fired a 82-gun salute in Hyde Park in honour of the Queen following the Trooping the Colour parade.

The contrast between the Queen and Prince Louis always fascinates in this scene: 92 years age difference, calm verses childhood exuberance. One can't help but smile.
I love their exchange at one point, it's so sweet. He is a typical little 4 year old boy having fun with his family, one day I'm sure he'll look back and realize the magnitude of this moment.
As my Granny used to say as we stood in the back yard watching the planes fly over in WW2, " There go our boys".
Gave me goosebumps to see and hear them again. Well done to them all. God bless Her Majesty too.

Makes me proud as an ex Army lad myself and knowing my Grandad is buried in France, shot down as a Lancaster pilot flying back from a bombing run, to still see and hear those beautiful RR Merlin engines and see the Queen remember those same sounds. Those sounds were the sounds of the strength and unity of our little island and our people. God bless and God save our Queen.

We watched the flypast from the roof of Heathrow Airport at work, magnificent. She looked genuinely happy.

These aircraft would almost certainly have flown over my old house in east London, every royal flypast did. Also, my late father would have signalled that Lancaster into a landing during his National Service. He was stationed at RAF Scampton while it was still in sevrice.

Don't forget the Hurricane this was the real workhorse of the war and the RAF there were a dam site more Hurricanes then Spitfires in the Battle of Britain and they were easier to repair then send into battle again. The Spitfires name captured the imagination of the nation hence why it was remembered more. Both look similar too hence the confusion between the two planes. But the Spitfire is a great plane

It was my absolute privilege to stand beneath that Lancaster bomber at IWM Duxford last summer as it was being repaired…the skill it takes! The spitfires are the absolute epitome of Britishness. And the Red Arrows as always … spectacular!
I was struck by the poise and elegance of the spouses of the Princes and Princess … all commoners and all doing an amazing job.

As both an Italian and British citizen I take great pride in seeing the 2 Giugno (Republic Day in Italy) and HM’s diamond jubilee parade on the same day. A fabulous display in honour or Her Majesty. Love seeing the WW11 aircraft as my father was a pilot during the war. As always, Queen Elizabeth 11 looked lovely.

The Queen was just a very young lady during and serving in WWII....the Lancaster and the Spitfire and the Hurricane sure put a smile on her face.....those were her favorite planes no doubt about it.....she still remembers their sounds......God save the Queen
