@@angelabenedict I understood why my acting "elitist" was coming from, and it's a part of growing up I believe - those who wear goth as a costume will get out of their phases as they got older. Partially, I'm being extra nice to babybats, because I wanted to someone to treat me like that (luckily, I had a friend, who did! I still got a few traded clothing items from her 🖤🥰)

I totally agree. I actually JUST found Angela and started watching her videos. As an elder goth, myself, I think she's giving great advice to the younger goths and baby bats out there. And, oh my goodness, I was mind blown when she said she was 44! I genuinely thought she was in her mid 20s. She's also stunningly beautiful. Glad I found her channel!

My husband and I became parents at 21 and none of our friends in the subculture had kids. I had to adjust my style to fit with the other moms I met or my young child would have not had any opportunity to socialize. My husband and I also went to fewer clubs and events because we were constantly exhausted for 4 years. It's just been in the last few years, since our second child started school, that we are finally returning to our goth roots.
I got to that point when my son was around 5 and I started being more open about my interests, without fully revealing my style. When that happened I began to learn that some of my normy mom friends were more darkly inclined than I realized.
I did that too and it was really hard to feel like I wasn’t being my real self but when I went back to my goth-ier self, I was more comfortable and it seemed to attract more people to myself. Now the kids in my kids’ classes can spot me because I’m always wearing all black. 🖤 🦇 and my youngest daughter calls my style “mystical goth” which is really cute. Even recently, my kids have talked about how they like the music we (my husband and I) listen to and that they like to tell their friends how cool we are which is really weird for their ages. I’m very lucky, and happy to express myself again. It’s been maybe 4-5 years now where I look like me everyday and there’s nothing like it.

so i'm going to be working at an elementary school and my mom told me that i shouldn't dye the ends of my hair [like the very end [1 inch]] a fantasy color because they might judge me at the job interview. then she said i shouldn't wear black nail polish to the job because i should look cheery. i don't really wear all black ever and i dont even dress edgy as i am on the inside [girl, i listen to TOOL and scream along to the songs every morning]. i reacted upset and defended myself. i thought of u and was comforted but wow i have a really crappy mom who doesnt support me emotionally. anywayyy yay new angela video at the exact right time??? Now, I have thought about what it is about the music I gravitate towards and I came to the conclusion that it is the feeling of being understood and recognizing the hard feelings instead of trying to fix them with happy little jigs lol. I love how in the beginning you used a picture from Daria, and it was of Quinn who is definitely one of the popular girls and would’ve made fun of people for being alternative. Also, I love the concept that the fashion is an extension of how the music makes us feel. It’s just so validating and I’ve never been able to explain it before.

Similar temperament but with more entitlement. I feel like not doing your part to try and stop the spread of misinformation when you see it damages the goth scene. If I'm not going to be part of the solution when these crappy issues pop up, I can't be upset when things start going south because I didn't even try.

god I feel you on the breast reduction. I'm short as well and my weight fluctuates quite a bit depending on how sedentary I have been. I think I'm a G as well right now but I miss being a D :/ they're so in the way all the time!!
Do you find with the fluctuating weight, when it goes up it hits the boobs first? Happens to me every time.

When you DO have kids, you do get to kinda be a kid again. You are surrounded by kid stuff. You get "down" on their level. When they are 3 and 4 or so, you take em to a playground and when they sit in the sandbox and make a new friend real easy like, there's the other kids parents right there, just as easy to talk to and make friends. I'm usually the only dad around and I guess I'm not goth but I'm like some kind of marilyn manson ish guy walking around at kid oriented places. Kids just love me too, very comfortable for them to just come up and talk to me or ask for help since I'm usually more hands on at playgrounds and stuff than the other parents and sometimes the parents get kinda nervous until they talk to me. I have long hair and the other day a little girl came up to me and asked "why are you a mom?" Cuz only moms go to playgrounds and have long hair.. anyways, awesome vid, peace!
Is there any active 80s bars/clubs in NY? In LA there’s a new wave bar that specifically plays goth/new wave, karaoke , and occasionally cover bands of that era. You’d love it ❤

And for me it was never a phase. But I so miss having goths around me. At least I can connect with my internet friends. To be soon 56 and still be "the weirdo" can feel little lonely sometimes. Specially when it's "dead" where I live. Miss my younger days when I had lots of goth friends in my area. But all disappeared and ended be alternative.
I am happy I have the music. It saves me a lot in those moments.
And I am happy to find even new bands today. But deep in my heart my favorite band no1 will always be Sisters of Mercy.

I haven't seen your cooking videos so maybe you do this already, but I've noticed that themed and/or silly cooking videos tend to get more engagement. Like when people make funny themed cakes (like Halloween cakes maybe), even if the cakes turn out terrible, it's very fun to watch lol. It might not be a fun thing for you idk but it could also be a possible segue into getting more people to watch your cooking videos!
I just saw your video do goths date other goths and I loved your perception you opened my eye and taught me other things about them I did not know about them. Even though I don’t dress in goth clothes and am not goth we have a lot in common meaning we want to be accepted for who we are and if u don’t like our style we won’t workout. Same thing for me if a girl does not like me wearing my athletic wear like sweatpants tank tops or athletic shorts and football flat hats she does not except me for me. Same thing as a person who does not except them for there music wants them to change it or dress different for there parents. A goth would understand me perfect and would love me for me. Because we both want to be accepted for who we are and don’t care about fitting in with the crowd and want someone who loves us for us as well.

Thanks for answering to my question! Definitely going to try those oil absorbing sheets you recommended. I guess greasy eyelids wont' need that much skincare products (so far), if the oil works as some kind of "natural moisturizer": After every double cleanse both on the morning and the evening, I do however use some hydrating eye gel around the eye area.
I also have to thank you for bringing up the existence of the DHC oil cleanser in your previous videos. Tried it, and fell in love with it. My oily skin didn't break out at all, even if I was scared of it at first. Using that oil cleanser is also very easy and gentle way to remove any eye makeup, when compared to using basic cotton pads and separate eye makeup removers.

I'll always be a sucker for bauhaus, the cure, as well as synth wave including viking metal and mariachi. I mainly speak English and Spanish fluenty, I do speak Arabic. I wouldn't mind learning swedish and Aramaic but I am learning ASL.
As someone who adores cyber goth, i would love to see cyber goth content like where to find different clothing for it, how to make your own cyber lox (because i mostly get the headband ones that hurt after awhile of wearing them) and so forth.
Thank you for your answers I will check out the bands I didn't know about. I like to make music I know the classics but need more modern framing. If you ever need info about music gear of goth music (that's how I frame it) I am very filming with the gear used by the curedivision, joy divission, the damned etc.

I have some bands to recomend the first is bridge sity sinners
A folk punk band with a little bit of goth in the mix.
The second is cardiacs a prog punk band that dabbled in every thing in the alt space

Therer are also some punk band that made some death rock like t.s.o.l (true sons of liberty)with the album dance with me a pionearing death rock album.
Danzigs post misfits pre danzig band samhain made some great death rock.
I had a beautiful, goth girlfriend, who is still my friend. I introduced her to my mom and told her she was just a phase. Both my mom and my girlfriend looked at me like😐😐

I have a question. Based on your experience, why some people decide to stop being Goth or alternative in general?
Despite that, some thoughts about the video.
Breast reduction could be useless because the breast tends to regrow. In addition, have scars on our body can make us feel even worst, mentally speaking. The only good way to reduce the breast is reducing the calories intake and practice sport if possible. Female athletes have a small breast do to their diet and training.
I never considered subcultures as communities, because every person is unique. Feel discomforted by a subculture is a prevalent feeling in youngsters that want to be part of a group (socially speaking) and they need stability in order to feel more comfortable.
To introduce people to Goth, Bauhaus are the best: everyone knows and appreciate them. Joy division are very well known and they can be a good start even if they're not Goth in the modern meaning of the term.
Have you heard of the band Midnight Darkwave? I found them the other day and I absolutely love it!! They recently released a lot of vampire themed music! You should check them out! 🖤🖤🖤

I didnt know you were a G cup. I am too and it's hard. like the largest size VS has is F, sometimes I will buy that but if they don't have my size the employees are always "buy your sister size" and its like "I am already doing that" 😑
sizing is definitely hard a lot of clothing makes you look huge because it sizes to your boobs, then to not look big everything feels like it needs to hug your body to not look like a sausage.

I love your content. I’ve been trying to find what to identify myself. I am into the dark and spooky vibes literally dress like a goth but I know for a fact I am a metal head because that’s all I listen to (some goth but just a few songs) but I do have to google goth clothing when looking for my type of clothing style. Little info, Greek came up in your DNA test cause southern Italians are Greek, Italian isn't an ethnicity (same for Filipino) they are nationalities, the countries are mixed cultures. My family came from Naples Italy so I just say I'm Greek cause that's literally what I am.
There is a possibility I am also a small amount of Arab and french and Spaniard cause those are also in southern Italian blood too but I'm not sure how much or at all are in my blood but there's no doubt I'm greek cause of my appearance.
