    My current routine is limited to my budget. I cant always afford to use retinol/retinal regularly which I want for my mature skin. I always put what money I have into a sunscreen first, and a thick moisturiser for my psoriasis especially before sleep. If i have more to spend, I get a retinol from The Ordinary or The Inkey List which is the cheapest Ive found.

    One thing that I have noticed on myself and some of my friends: POSTURE!!
    Sometimes one can think that they're getting neck wrinkles, or face sagging, but really, they've gotten too comfortable slouching like E.T. Working on the "nerd neck" helps alleviate a lot of "early aging" that just isn't actually aging! Maybe you're really just letting the skin go unnaturally "slack", by sitting that way.
    I know that I need something more like a posture-correcting bra (and push-up exercises!), but some corsets also assist with this.

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  4 месяца назад

      I like foundation that essentially acts like skin care. I don't like things that are too thick and heavy, things that are dewy and you can somewhat see your natural skin through. Instead of looking like makeup, it just looks like your skin but better. I really love the Korean cushion foundations. At the moment my favorite is the Missha glo palette. I'm waiting for my tirtir cushion foundation palette to arrive, that has got rave reviews and I'm curious to see how it acts. But basically a foundation is meant to sit on your face, you want it to contain ingredients that are good for your skin. There are a lot out there that contain hyaluronic acid, ceramides, niacinamide, sunscreens. They really do the work while you're just out there giving good face.

    I would buy the Sephora Collection Apple Cider Vinegar Sea Salt Scalp Scrub, which I found almost 2 years ago... they just discontinued it. It did wonders for my scalp and the original that it was a dupe for is 40 freaking dollars, Sephora's was $12. There are no other dupes of the original stuff either.
    But I have noticed that the Asian skincare products are top notch, so I've been looking into them.

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  4 месяца назад

      It's not just skin care for the face when it comes to Korean and Japanese beauty but the scalp and the body are held in equal esteem. They're very much into scalp care so I would have a look around and see what they have to offer. You might find something comparable or even better than your Sephora dup.

    Also, if anyone does want to lighten their skin for whatever reason, I would suggest the Marie France kojic soap. It helps with texture too. It can be very drying however so always use a good moisturizer after!

      For bags you can use ingredients with caffeine, for coloration vitamin c and retinol. Also look into potential allergies because eye bags and circles can present as a reaction. Proper hydration goes a long way as well.

      My boyfriend had back and arm acne, I bought him an african net and it helped him quite a bit ! :) it also leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth after just 1 use ! African Nets don’t hold as much bacteria as compared to something like a loofah or wash cloth.

      There are some good body washes out there that contain salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is really great at fighting acne and the good thing is, you're less likely to experience the same sensitivity issues that you may experience on your face. Another good thing would be exfoliation. Have you seen the Korean exfoliation mitts for the body? You can get them on Amazon. You have to be very careful with them however, they really are abrasive and should only be used once every few weeks or so. I wanted to post a video of what my tub looked like after I use them. It looked like I exploded.

    Hi I just finished esthetician school and my teacher was prevalent about using medical grade skin scare cause it has more research behind it also if a client came to you and saw you using stuff from Sephora they would be wtf am I paying for I could have just gotten all these myself. So I am curious why you don't use medical grade stuff? The brand she recommended was SkinScript cause it is beginner friendly and the prices are not through the moon. I do have to say those the cleansing oil looks really good I was told that grape seed for people who struggle with acne and jajoba oil for people that don't for the first oil cleanse. The one in the video was made for the face though and looks really nice. Also I would LOVE for more skincare videos

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  4 месяца назад

      I'm surprised a teacher would espouse this considering all of the high efficacy and quality products that exist and the price range of mere mortals. Not to mention the fact that by limiting yourself to one brand in a market of literal market I could do the same if not better.
      Many times, the difference between medical grade and products that the majority of your soon-to-be clients will be able to afford is a price tag.
      The research that goes behind many of these brands are no different To what you would find on for example sites like Olive Young or Skin Cupid or even Sephora. You just need to do your own research into the company and the ingredients of the products. The truth of the matter is, Your client is coming to you for restorative as well as part of their maintenance routine. If this is being done monthly or even every 3 months, you're talking At least $120 before add-ons like microderm, LED or peels for example. If you start recommending they shell out medical grade prices for medical grade products. It's needlessly frivolous and The average client doesn't have that kind of budget.
      Rather than direct them to a medical grade brand and rely on the label on the packaging to do the work, it's your job as an esthetician to understand your client's individual skin care needs and match them up with the products and ingredients that will suit Not only their skin but their lifestyle and their morals and values. You could have a vegan client. Someone who is allergic to specific ingredients or only shops cruelty free. In the end, if you're recommending all these expensive products that do absolutely nothing, your client will lose trust in you and you will have wasted their money.

I know that these products are already meant to be hydrating on their own but do you use any actual moisturizer ? Aside from the lotion serum you mentioned ? My skin has been feeling dryer and usual and I’ve been breaking out more due to stress , I’m just wanting to better understand so I can help give it the care it needs. How often do you use the exfoliating pads? I’m sure it depends on skin type but I use Paula’s Choice BHA and find as someone with combination skin it works great but I’ve gotta try that peel, bought it the last video you had and for some reason got nervous to try it!

The oil cleanse, face wash, serums essence is an ampules will help keep you hydrated and is also a good preventative against future damage.

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  4 месяца назад

      That's a common misconception but completely understandable. To use an oil cleanse while having an oily skin type seems like a total no-fly zone but it's really not the case. The oil and the oil cleanse breaks up that sebum on the surface as well as works out sebaceous filaments which are also made up of oil. I would recommend something maybe a bit lighter for you, maybe the HYOL cleansing oil by Babor.

      I have a really strict regimen. The important part is to keep the antibodies As low as possible. When I was first diagnosed my tpo levels were close to 1,000. I cut out gluten, worked on gut health by getting probiotics from food like kefir, kraut, kimchi. I eat overnight oats/chia pudding every morning. Take 3000ius of vit D daily, selenium in the form of Brazil nuts daily bc those 2 nutrients are lacking in hashis. Season my food with iodized salt because iodine is good for the thyroid. I tend to eat a lot of jar salads with black beans, roasted sweet potatoes, probiotic cheeses and I exercise every day. I do around an hour of cardio 5 to 7 days a week. Last check of antibodies had me at 150.

    Any tips for folks with oily skin?

    • @angelabenedict
      @angelabenedict  4 месяца назад

      With oily skin, salicylic acid is your friend. Cleansers that contain it are really useful. When your oily you have to be a little bit more diligent but it pays off in the end because oily skin is nature's moisturizer and you will age much slower as a result. But by being more diligent you're going to have to make sure that you take steps in the morning midday and the evening to control the oil. You don't want it to stop or dry it out. Do your routine in the morning with a salicylic acid face wash, some vitamin c and toner pads. Midday, depending upon whether or not you wear makeup, you can get a salicylic acid face spray. People were using them at the height of the pandemic because they were breaking out around their mouths. In the evening, make sure you do your routine before bed because while you're asleep, your face really goes for it. That's when our skin kind of works overtime to heal itself which is why you can go to bed and even if you've only slept 3 hours, you'll wake up with a giant pimple that wasn't there when you went to bed.
