Aerial Silks Straight-Arm Straddle Banded Conditioning

  • I'm so excited to have put together the first of hopefully many videos on banded progressions for circus strength! This first one is all about straight arm straddles. There are so many options with how to create assists for these, so I'll make sure to put more together if you find them helpful.
    Why do bands work? Sometimes the only way to get stronger / understand a movement is to just do the movement. That's why using a band for pull-ups, for instance, is a great way to get stronger at bodyweight pull-ups.
    You can use the same theory for pretty much anything as long as you have the proper exercise to do so. Check out the video and let me know what you think. I offer four different ways to assist your straight arm straddle, some of which help your pelvic/lower abdomen region, and others which assist your upper back/shoulders and big strong lats.
    This is my first video like this and I'm amazed at how much work goes into a 4 minute and 30 second edit! If it feels rough around the edges, bear with me 😂

    This is awesome! I really struggle with inverts and can’t wait to try it. Can you take the same approach with a bent arm inversion?

      I'm so excited to see what you think! You can absolutely take the same approach with bent arm straddles, though I'm thinking that the single point connections where you place your feet would be difficult to create tension since you wouldn't be extended all the way down.
      You can definitely use the double point connection for lat support and it works GREAT. I would love to do a bent arm straddle banded progression video.. maybe that will be next!

      That you! I think lat support would really help me. The hardest part for me in to get my hips high enough (and everything else, but that would be a great place to start)
