I absolutely LOVE how Kojima got back at Konami attempting to take his name off the box art of MGS5, by leaving his name literally all over the game itself. Every single mission in the game starts with credits, saying it was made by Hideo Kojima. Priceless!!
Officer Trigger Happy And don't forget that Kojima himself is a character in the game, doing his own voice for himself, and is a welcome addition to your team. I love how every episode of MGS5: Phantom Pain says it's directed by Hideo Kojima as well dude. It's the perfect payback. And makes it seem like every part of the Phantom Pain is it's own episode, directed by Kojima himself. I just wish the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 were real, so they could steal konami's tiny, withered, evil heart, and maybe, like Capcom, they could STOP making Nazi like decisions, and stop treating their employees like dogshit. I don't know how to end this, so Fuck Konami.
@@Saltyoven Oh, but there's a bonus kicker to this cavalcade of bullshevicks: The current CEO has been quoted as not liking video games, and believes all games should be free-to-play.
When Katsura Hashino said he’s finished with the Persona franchise, Atlus actually respected his wishes and allowed him full creative freedom to work on whatever he’s passionate about Yet when Kojima said he’s done with Metal Gear franchise, Konami keeps forcing him to work on sequels and treated him like total crap....
At least Hashino is one good terms with Atlus. And maybe one inspiration will hit and he'll want to make another Persona game (I mean, technically he is still at Atlus).

Konami didn't "lose" Kojima, they made an active effort to try to erase him from the video game industry as a whole and even had him blacklisted from events and interviews, but just like the Techno, the Grunge, the Pop, Punk-Rock, and New-wave tried to do to The Metal, hahah, THEY FAILED, as he rose again to grace all with his genius, or his insanity, whichever.
Fingers crossed Nintendo + Kojima work on a title together. Not even lying, after Mario + Rabbids being surprise crossover *and* Ape Escape. I'd love to see Star Fox Solid or something like that. (Yes I know MGS is owned by Konami, but it was born from Kojima. Hes that series daddy!)
16:54 The funny thing is thanks to Konami’s obsession with getting rid of PT, it showed gamers everywhere the downside of digital only gaming. Konami essentially showed that it doesn’t matter if you own something if it’s not on a disk A game creating company could get rid of it at any time they want to.
Worst part is, it doesn't help that companies like Nintendo and Netflex actually treat their IPs with more respect then Konami ever did, I mean we got Simon and Richter Belmont and plus Snake ended up returning for Smash Ultimate and Dracula's Castle got a whooping 34 music tracks and most of them are actually remixes, plus we got the Castlevania animated series which was amazing.
Nintendo: Did you just turn Castlevania into a gambling machine? Konami: Yeah. So? Nintendo: That's against the rules. Konami: SCREW THE RULES! I HAVE MONEY!
If there were to be a time where Nintendo buys the rights to not all of Konami's franchises, but all of their employees and of course Kojima, I can think of this quote from Transformers: Animated. Nintendo: You want money, Konami? HAVE YOUR FILL!!!
@Cononel Sarge I don't get what your talking about here. what did Nintendo ban Konami from uploading to the Switch's Eshop because they turned metal gear into a gambling machine?

In my book at least Konami blacklisting employees is worse than EA underpaying employees. With EA there’s at least hope that you can leave and get a job elsewhere. With Konami that hope is gone as you’ll have to go to an entirely different industry to have any hope. And punishing employees with certain jobs sounds like it could count as a labor law violation in some part of the world. And the blacklisting sounds like it’s definitely illegal somewhere.
Be a real shame if the entire group got a backbone and something to crack a backbone, and grouped up to do something about their "Bosses" like eh? (might not be Russia / Ukraine, nyate much else be needing said) :3
It isn't and I don't even think it's a bad thing. Blacklisting is indeed bad but punishing but demoting someone is what companies should do. Promote those that succeed and demote those that fail.
@@Double-R-Nothing Yeah unfortunately. The worst American company which dishes out repetitive sports games and good racing games yet is more morally bankrupt than WWE is better than a backstabbing, cruel, unpleasant to work with Konami.
The ‘Ex-Kon’ situation sounds like breaking up a relationship with a very controlling and possessive partner who tries to hunt you down and saying that “it’s changed” and “wants you back” in “its life” but what it really means is the “you’re done when I say you’re done” B.S.
The biggest? Firing Kojima, the one thing keeping their company relevant, as Projared said. And canceling PT as well as a result, one of the most praised and hyped horror games of recent memory. And now you can’t even get the demo anymore... :{
Someone needs to push a massive information campaign in Japan to show how terrible Konami is, especially considering how they treat their employees. There's plenty of other Pachinko machines for people to flock to. Maybe putting pressure on the hosts of Konami's machines will make them think twice about doing business with them.
To misquote Harry Truman; "Once a government (or company) is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures".
Yeah say what you want about Capcom, they’ve been for the most part turning themselves around. But I hope Konami’s current leaders end up penniless, alone, and forgotten.
Fun fact: the reason the silent hill collection is such a mess is because Konami actually LOST some the old code needed to program the originals and port it, losing it over time. Which is why they also didn't patch it. After all, how can you fix a game when you don't have the f*****g source code to fix with.
Believe it or not Konami isn't the only company that did this During the PS2 era this was common practice for most companies. Capcom, Square enix ect Most companies reselling their older games never really crossed their minds since a lot of the mindset was "this generation of video games is the peak and the future"
Plus, Monster Hunter World pretty much was their cure. They're now climbing back up from their bash hole to meet back up with Nintendo. This made a small new meme: "I love Capcom with money."
New Gabe Order If you look closely at the logo, the V, I, and most of the L at the end of “EVIL” are highlighted in orange to form the Roman numerals for seven (VII).
Konami is one of the reasons on why i wish the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5 were real. They've gone too far and someone needs to stop them and put an end to all of this.
Or better yet. The Assassin's from Assassin's Creed. They aren't a big fan of people like that. And in the AC Universe, the Head of Konami would probably be a Templar
10: Let us not forget that Lords of Shadow was originally an entirely new IP, then somebody slapped the Castlevania name onto it. That is why feels so little like Castlevania, especially in the original game. 9: To be fair, this wasn't something exclusive to Konami. Nintendo, Capcom, and Squaresoft also had their share of BS difficulty moments. 8: With how botched this remake is, I feel it one should instead say a bad re release is "going Silent Hill HD." 7: Biggest sign somebody is a scum bag is when they try to use youtube's copyright system to silence their critics. In fact most if not everything Konami does in response to criticism or just people reacting to its evil just makes them look worse. 6: Just when I thought my view of that piece of garbage couldn't get any lower. 5: Fuck Konami! I could say that with all of these but I don't have anymore words for it. 4: I say they were greedy and spiteful. And evil. 3: Did I mention Konami was evil? I did? Well I can't mention it enough times. Also love how you used that footage of Kingpin. 2: In addition to being evil, Konami is also stupid. They are the like Joffrey Baratheon, a vicious idiot who violently lashes out everything around them. In this case I feel it's no doubt because their spite towards Kojima. 1: I had heard about this and it's the big one why I kept saying Konami is evil. They abuse their employees, treating all of them like dirt, and if they try to quit, Konami black lists them. If EA is Dick Jones from Robocop, and evil businessman concerned only about making money, then Konami is, what I and Firey Joker have described it as, an evil abusive boss that insists on making life as miserable as possible for everyone they employee.
dragonstormx - Konami is the Mr Burns of video game companies minus all the things that has made him get the legion of fans that he's had since season one.
to be honest, lords of shadow would have been a lot better off if igarashi were allowed to work on it. but. nope. he was shoved into unrelated mobile projects. and then he promptly left.
On No. 1 they literally locked Kojima in an office away from his staff during Metal Gear Solid V as well. Because they knew Kojima was planning to leave. Sad but true :(
dragonstormx I left a comment like this on the video itself, but Konami’s fails depress me while EA’s give me hope. Sure, EA is terrible, but they’re so bad that their practices are impossible to sustain. I feel like each new EA fail puts them one step closer to the grave, and that makes me happy. I don’t get that from Konami, and the later fails on this list are probably the reason for that. Sure, the Big Brother stuff makes them look downright satanic, but it also shuts down a lot of the more serious backlash that should be hurting them. After all, how do you attack Konami when they have enough clout to ruin your life once you leave? Seriously, on top of all the Big Brother comparisons, add in Chancellor Neighsay for all the power they hold with people they REALLY shouldn’t in order to pull that crap off. Next you’re gonna tell me the president of Konami runs Japan. Add to that a lesser version of this evil backlash shutdown with the RUclips copyright abuse, and the fact that the dumb pachinko apps are SOMEHOW making money, and it feels like all their bases are covered to keep being monsters. EA is at least on a suicidal path, but Konami commits far worse sins to ensure they stay alive. And someone needs to put a stake in their heart.
I bet that now, three years after the events of the latest game, they got Kazuma Kiryu locked in a cubicle, working on a Suikoden gacha mobile games with plenty of delicious pay-to-win microtransactions. I'd rather have my favorite dead JRPG franchise remain dead.
Well that never stopped Imageepoch from making good games. Even though it's never been confirmed people think it was run by Yakuza because after filing for bankruptcy in 2015 CEO Ryoei Mikage has been missing. Not like went off the grid,i'm talking milk carton legally missing. Former employees have made coded tweets asking about his whereabouts. Also the reason why people think they were ran by Yakuza is because they were an indie developer with their very first game Luminous Arc somehow had the money to hire Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger,Chrono Cross,Xenogears,Xenosaga trilogy and Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy) as composer The PSP games &th Dragon-2020 and 7th Dragon-2020-II somehow got the money to get Hatsune Miku as an NPC and use her/it's music.
Okay, really don't know how you can look at a CORPORATION working its employees in sweatshop-like conditions, all for PROFIT, and suddenly equate that with Communism. It's not. It's Pure CAPITALISM. You might want to look up the definitions.
Konami is such a strange anomaly. For a highly successful video game company, they really seem to have very little respect for video games. Or at least it used to be an anomaly. Too many companies these days seem to be following suit.
bjh2o When you put it that way, Konami seems to be a bad example that all these other companies are following. As a side note, I actually kinda believe that in EA’s case.
People always say more and more companies are doing this... It seems more like exaggeration than anything else. Could you give examples? In the end the only other major companies indulging in stuff like this I see is EA and Activision.
@@Dracomut EA & Activision are the primary examples. Bethesda isn't doing great right now with that pathetic attempt at a multiplayer title. Valve is committed to doing as little as it possible can when it comes to Steam games. Gearbox released Aliens: Colonial Marines. Studio Wildcard is in hot water right now for attempting to sell an Ark clone as a full release while I never forgave them for selling DLC for an unfinished product. Nintendo only just realized that its policy for dealing with content creators was terrible. Then you have the shit that the bad actors of the indie developers attempt to get away with. I was more speaking about the trends of video games in a general sense. I grew up on Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Paper Mario. Everything those older games do great, newer games seem to view as set dressing to the micro-transaction storefront. I know not everyone shares my views on micro-transactions, season passes, and the like. I find them repugnant and they really do have a negative impact upon my experience with a game. Seeing them in good games like Shadow of War or Destiny 2 is all the more disappointing. (Especially if they already took $60 bucks from me upfront).
@@bjh2o Other than EA, Activision, and Bethesda though those examples are all either really old news and/or the companies have been improving/redeeming themselves in multiple ways within the last couple years. And again even taking your examples into account, these are still just a few amongst the various good companies in gaming and ignores the improvements we have seen. It really seems you are emphasizing the negative sea in an ocean of quality. I grew up with those games as well and I can assure you are plenty of games like them that have been coming out done both by AAA and indie creators that are free of micro-transactions (I can also assure you that shady business practices are nothing new ing games and back then there were companies trying milk their games and pinch every penny out of their customers). People talk about micro-transactions being everywhere when in reality not a lot of games have really been using the model and most of the ones that have have been the infamous mobile games or just the really notable examples. There is nothing wrong with things like seasons passes when done correctly, which they have been in games like Smash Bros, Soulcalibur 6, etc. Even then, allowing these things in the first place is not just the companies fault, but the fans for becoming complacent and blind. Did you buy those two games are launch or pre-order them? Thats on you. Don't give into hype and actually think about what games you should get and whether they are from a trustworthy source. I have only preordered 4 games in the last 10 years, all of which were games I truly knew would be good and were from companies I trusted. Plus I should add Shadow of Mordor's "micro-transactions" were extremely light, were not required, and given the game's reception it did not hurt the game much at all.
@@Dracomut I don't care about what other people think about micro-transactions, pre-orders, and season passes. I know how such things affect me and my experiences. If you think they are fine and game companies deserve the benefit of the doubt that's your prerogative. I gave you my opinion: there is no reason to pre-order a game, season passes are a joke, micro-transactions (even the cosmetic ones) don't belong in anything other than free-to-play titles, and video game companies do not deserve to be trusted with anything more than a tuna fish sandwich. It's fine if you disagree, but we don't really have much to discuss. (I have never pre-ordered a game. I have only bought one game at full price and regretted it so much, that I now always wait for the price drop)
i remember a meme where mr krabs 9from the krusty crab commercial episode) was konami, and he was firing all the other games, and yu-gi-oh was the clown he kept
There were so many things Konami could do if they were smart: A Castlevania game for the 3DS that takes place in 1999 and lets you play the role of Julius Belmont in the final fight against Dracula. Prelude of Sorrow can be a perfect name. Resurrecting Contra from the dead and turning it into a good FPS, kinda like how Nintendo did with Metroid Prime. They could even challenge Halo if it was good enough! Resurrecting Suikoden following the wake of the resurgence in JRPGs we have in the last few years. Giving Hudson some freedom to work their IPs. Why can't all major publishers treat their studios like Square Enix and Bethesda, flaws and all, treat theirs? Combine both of the above aspects and give the west a brand new I.P. to love with remasters of Hudson's never localized JRPG franchise, Tengai Makyou/Far East of Eden.
*if they weren't amoral....* the issue is they are plenty 'smart,' but lacking the needed right kinds of "smart" to see it better to be per specific morality. aye.
@Neptune Purple-Heart They were close to it, in the seventh generation. However, I assume the move to HD and Unreal Engine 3's not being very compatible with Japanese language has to do with it more than lack of popularity. Only one JRPG was ever released on UE3, Lost Odyssey.
#FucKonami isn't trending anymore? How to we rectify this? Silent Hill Collection is even worse than you said, they lost the source code to at least 2, so at least Silent Hill 2 on the HD collection is from an older, less complete build. They also re-did the Voice Acting with alot of the people you typically here nowadays (Liam O'Brian for one.), even though as awkward as some of the Voice Acting in 2 was, the Awkwardness actually worked to the game's benefit. James awkward dialogue suited the character perfectly pretty much, so hearing a new guy not being as awkward actually took away from the character. No idea about the other games on the collection, but I imagine at least the VA part to be similar. .......I miss Suikoden.
@Madfox The issue with blizzard is that they are the only ones capable of killing their games and so far, outside hearthstone, they're doing a damn good job at it.
Tbh, those companies haven't fucked up as hard as both of Konami and EA. Activision tho, they need a special beating. Valve haven't done nearly as many fuck ups.
Here's a dumb Yugioh Fuck up they did recently, they've implemented a separate format called speed duelling where you can only play with cards that has the speed duelling tag. Sounds harmless until you realise these speed duelling cards are basically the same old cards with an extra tag on them just for verification on speed duelling, which are mostly just nostalgiac old school rubbish. And no you can't use cards you already own if they don't have a tag on, give us more money for your 6th copy of dork magician losers!
At least Konami’s willing to let Nintendo put a lot of their characters and music into Smash, unlike some other companies... *cough cough Square Enix cough*
I was literally about to go to bed..... but bed can wait. For a long time. I couldn't wait for Yugioh games to come out but now I refuse to play any Yugioh games b/c I cannot stand to support Konami in anything or for anything! FU KONAMI
Oh TRUST ME! Yu-Gi-Oh! is the shining declaration of how shitty Konami's business practices are. Pay-To-Win? Check. Turning the fixing of the game into a cashcow? Check. And let us not forget how they changed End-of-Match procedures in such a way as to FACILITATE AND REWARD slow-playing your way into time because of the ridiculous amount of handtraps that are part of the competitive metagame, which are hard to verify unless you call a judge. OH and should one mention the rarity buffs that make some cards INCREDIBLY more pricey in the secondary market than they should be?! I think i could go on, but YGO is a whole new can of worms that has steadily declined to a joke ever since 5D's ended. And i prefer to keep my sanity intact by NOT opening it, thank you very much.
Wow. Unlike the EA video. This was just depressing. See, with the #1 on EA, I was actually given hope by the sweatshop conditions, because I saw a company that was driving itself into the ground with that policy. EA may be terrible, but a cursory glance at their backwards policies and all the crap that comes from them continue to show how running a company that way should be impossible to sustain, that all that crap will soon pile up and they’ll fold from their own faults. I don’t get that from Konami. Konami is a far greater beast, seeking only destruction, but somehow I don’t get the impression they’re sticking themselves with a knife by each f$&& up like EA has. Konami NEEDS to die, and I don’t think we can just sit back and let them off themselves.
As a Silent Hill fan, I want to say something I remember about the Silent Hill HD Collection which should have been included as one of Konami's fails. Before the HD Collection was released, Konami intended on replacing Silent Hill 2 protagonist James Sunderland's voice actor Guy Cichi with Troy Baker to avoid paying Guy royalties, even though Guy not only voiced James, he also did motion capture for the character. However, Konami resolved the dispute peacefully (I don't recall how), but trying to undermine the original actor of the main protagonist is a huge fail to me.
EA and Konami might be what's actively killing the gaming industry! Treating their employees like they don't matter, refusing to listen to any criticism, and taking control of things they know their corporate heads didn't make and wouldn't know to make, making it impossible for their ex-employees to move on to companies that would probably welcome the talent.
Nintendo : even at a pandemic, still makes solid games. I mean just look at DLC for Smash Ultimate and Paper Mario The Origami King. Konami : what the hell is a solid game?
I've... Never been more disgusted with a game company than I am now. I honestly hope everyone who works with them gets better recognition... and Konami getting taken over by better people would be nice too.
That would require the lottery, since 99/100 a company that purchases another company are the companies that most complain about. Who knows whats worse, current konami or konami owned by Activison or god help us EA.
@@DaneTheDane agreed, heck any of the IPs would probably be better off with Nintendo. Worst case they would at least have dignity in death rather than be paraded around like they are now.
Konami has been horribly screwing the western yugioh community as well. Making lots of good sets Japan-exclusives and fragmenting them into sets that do get released. Where cards from those Japanese sets become chase cards that sell for stupid prices (heavymetalfoes electrumite Before the mega tin is a good example it was about 75 dollars.) and the menace that is firewall dragon. A card that was so broken it was basically a win button. It took Konami A YEAR AND A HALF to ban it. Honestly I don’t usually rant but for shit like this I’ll make an exception. #Fuckkonami
10: It's almost kind of sad that other companies like Netflix and Nintendo have treated Konami's properties like Bomberman and Castlevania to great reboots, although in Castlevania's case its just an adaptation of the third game. 9: There is a difference between a game being challenging and a game being difficult. Konami doesn't understand the difference. 8: Capcom showed how to make a good remaster with Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. Capcom. Let that sink in. 7: Oh Konami, you can't handle the truth can you? 6: I treat that game as Venom Snake having a food poisoning nightmare. Also paying for a save slot? Even EA is not that bad. 5: My favorite scene from Power Ranger season 2 was when the Pachinko monster was destroyed. I want to see that happen to Konami's machines. 4: If it weren't for Kojima, Konami would still be stuck in the Stone Age. I hope Death Stranding is so successful, that it puts Konami out of business, and their IPs are given to people who actually give a damn. 3: This should be illegal. If I were hiring, and I found out the person was a former Konami Employee, I'd hire them. If Konami said anything about it, I'd tell them that they have no power over here. 2: It's a Fucking demo Konami, are you just jealous that it's better than any reboot you ever made? 1: There needs to be a criminal investigation for this company. There needs to be arrests made. This company needs to go bankrupt. I know people might not think that way, but from what I could gather, there is no salvaging this company. And if their IPs are sold off, then we all know who exactly will be getting their child back.
I find it hilarious that the card game got so little reference, considering how clearly they don't give a rat's ass about the health of the game. The banlist that's supposed to balance the game is only used to sell products, they don't care about product balancing, and the shortprinting is like buying a video game and finding you're missing the disk.
How tragically ironic that the company that makes a lot of action-oriented games (EA) physically drains and abuses its employees, while the company that makes a lot of psychological-oriented games (Konami) mentally tortures its employees.
Regarding yugioh, let's talk about a certain card called firewall dragon, a card they thought it was a great idea to release, but unfortunately, quickly went on the ban list, which is unfortunate, as this card is the ace monster of the latest yugioh anime, let me repeat that, they created an ace monster which then went on the ban list, that is some level of stupidity
@@melvinshine9841 It was a card that pretty much had no restriction on its SS effect and was the ultimate enabler to a mechanic that was idiotic in the first place. Basically it was one of those cards that proves YGO design can't be done in a vacuum since there are so many decks that abuse such a potent special summon engine.
You know, it's a shame. These companies, EA and Konami both, used to be prime video game makers. Used to be that people would kill for the chance to play the new game they made. Used to be they were awesome. But now they've been constricted with greed and corruption. However it's two different types of Greed. With EA their greed is Money. Purely Money. Microtransactions, Shoddy Buisness Practices and the like (Don't even get me started on Star Wars.) it's purely clear they care about the green stuff and shareholders then the fans of the games they supposedly put time and effort in. At least they are predictable. Konami however has another type of Greed. They don't want just money, they want Workers. They have this grand delusion they are on top and others should be worshiping their products. They are obsessive like a 5 year old is to his favorite toy. They want. They need. They take take take. It wasn't just Kojima. This was brewing under the surface for a while. Censorship, blacklisting and Concentration Camp levels of control are only a few sins they commited. Who knows what else they've done? Losing PT was bad I agree. But Blacklisting and Treating their own Employees like shit makes me sick. Labor Laws are gonna have a field day with them. I think that's why Kojima left. He saw what Konami was or was turning into and wanted to jump ship. We should be thanking Kojima for bringing most of this stuff Konami did to light. It's only a matter of time until both EA and Konami are grinded under the heels of the public for good. But the biggest pain is that these companies used to be awesome with games people would kill to play. Games we still talk about and love today. Games we will never forget. And will continue to play for years to come. EA is bad. That's a no brainer. But Konami is worst. With EA they at best deserve a complete wake up call to reality. But with Konami? I, along with may, can agree they deserve nothing short of a complete company shutdown. F% Konami. And god bless JoshScorcher for being a voice of reason within the chaos.
Honestly, I don't want my memory of the old Konami to just go poof. So I would like to just think that somewhere along the line, a demon possessed Konami and then it turned into a perversion of itself and video game companies. The old passionate Konami is dead, and now a dreadful spirit is controlling its dead body like a puppet for his own will. This isn't like the story of SNK rising back from the grave after bankruptcy. This is a whole 'nother level of beast. A company shutdown would be less of a punishment but more like a mercy kill towards the old Konami that we all respected.
I think a good public beating for Konamis higher ups and shareholders should set them straight. They need to learn what actual morality is, and that society wont take that shit. However, since a good beating is technically doing the public no favors, I suggest an alternate punishment, one where the shareholders (who I do not consider human beings) and the CEO's (who I usually do, even with EA, but not for Konami) should be thrown out the door, forced into government sanctioned poverty, barely making enough to eat fucking bread and crumbs, and to live in public shame until they wither and rot in their old age. Perhaps that would be a good punishment.
The hd collection has an excuse for being shit. The original source code was lost so the team who was hired to make it had to fix bugs that were not in the original release themselves with no frame of reference. It doesn't fully excuse the shitty port but it does explain a lot of the issues. There was even a story from the dev team where the main character of 3 was blue for some reason
Overall the HD collection only has 1 downgrade which is the fog. However it's an incredibly important one as the fog and the limited visibility that it created was the thing that made SH2 so scary.
When Kingdom Hearts 1.5 was being made for PS3, square had lost the original source code for KH1 and managed to create a version of the game that wasn't riddled with bugs and out of place textures. But then again there may have been other factors that contributed to the state of the silent hill hd collection, regardless the collection was still trash.
@@AnimatorDemon I think the problem with the Silent Hill HD collection was that they were doing things by the book. They were simply said to improve it graphically and that is exactly what they did. The problem is that several graphics in Silent Hill go against the conventional wisdom of graphic design so upgrading it by-the-book only resulted in losing a lot of things that made it so powerful. They needed direction to make clear what to clear and what to blur. I think the reason this happened was because Silent Hill was a very haphazard creation. It was made by a group that was somewhat cast aside by the company because of incompetence or bad attitude. They didn't really make a clear rulebook so people didn't really know how to recreate it. Silent Hill isn't the only highly acclaimed game with a haphazard creation, another is Goldeneye 007. Also Pokémon was created very chaotically with many pauses due to financial issues and serious bugs. Unlike Goldeneye though which was a one-shot the haphazard creation of Pokémon caused major headaches because of the need for tie-in software like Stadium and sequels. I know of Perfect Dark but it is more a spiritual successor rather than a true sequel.
Leave it to Konami to make microtransactions even worst *Looks at silent hill ascension* Man did this phrase aged so well Cant wait for this years fails Its going to be good

In regards to Number 3, Konami wanting to blacklist the people who use to work for them sounds the equivalent of a psychotic ex boyfriend/girlfriend who seem to go out of their way to sabotage you by spreading false rumours that will prevent you from finding that special someone.
I wouldn't call Konami shifting away from making games a "bad" thing really. Frankly it's high time Konami just take their ruined IPs and piss off anyway. The only thing they contribute to gaming anymore is cringe, controversy, and desecration of beloved franchises. And let's be honest - we were never going to legitimately see MGS, Castlevania or Silent Hill again - just Konami propping their corpses up as macabre marionettes to dance for shekels when they're between Pachinko machines.
Man Josh, first calling out scumbag scams, then EA, now Konami. You probably got everyone in a dungeon lined up for death row. Who's next? Blizzard? Activision? Bethesda?
Activision-Blizzard is probably the next one on the chopping block with I'm guessing number one being the announcement of Diablo Immortal and how that was handled.
“ If you don’t play ball, they’ll chew you up and spit you out. And take away your first born child.” Tragically fitting, since that happens more than once in Metal Gear. Though even the Patriots would be disgusted by Konami.
Here’s a fun fact that came to mind when you brought up the 2017 Power Rangers movie: the suits from the 2017 movie not only are pretty generic, they also aren’t entirely original! If you are a big fan of the Kamen Rider franchise, you’ll notice that the belts of the suits actually look almost copyright claim levels of similar to Kamen Rider Agito’s Alter Ring.
14:19 ...I can't watch this part and not crack up! When I wrote that part in, I dunno what possessed me to do it, but I underestimated how much you were gonna ham it up XD
Wait, so your telling me that if I worked at Konami as a janitor and either quit or am fired, I won't be able to get a job at another gaming company simply cause I used to work at Konami? That is all kinds of fucked up.
Okay, so for me something that tends to make me angry at Konami has to do with their treatment of the Yugioh card game, and just their apparent inability to think card effects through. Certain cards or even archetypes have lost almost all of their competitive viability because key combo pieces got banned for unforeseen interaction with other cards. This has reached a high point recently, where the Ace Monster of the current protagonist got banned while Vrains is still ongoing. Maybe it's not as bad as some of the stuff on this list, but as a player of the Yugioh TCG... it just feels like they have no ability to think things through when it comes to card design.
Konami about P.T.: "oh, we for whatever reason had to cancel a project despite how absurdly well-received and hyped it was in ways many marketing campaigns can only dream? It happens, that's business... Now let's try to go out of our way to expunge every shred of its existence possible and ensure it can never see the light of day by any other means". Maybe this is just my ignorance from never having taken a business class before, but when you have an unsuccessful or cancelled project- aren't you supposed to try to salvage it best you can either in profits or reputation? Like selling off the IP to someone else, just releasing what you have anyway (and keeping it out there) in hopes of at least getting a few drips of profit to recoup from all the resources already sunk into it, just taking your hands off it and let the fans do most of the work for you to maintain IP value and by extension company reputation in hopes of maybe reviving it at some point in the future? I can understand trying to sweep your colossal failures under the rug because you don't want to be reminded of how bad you used to be, but T.P. clearly wasn't- it was a resounding success, why would anyone go to such lengths to expunge that? Was it out of spite towards the development team? Things ended on such bad terms that it's not enough to blacklist them but to erase all record of projects they did while they worked for you regardless of how profitable they were/could have been? That's just bad business. I can understand a certain level of employee control, you need your employees to actually do their job and you don't want competitors to get ammunition that can be used against you, and maybe some level of professional courtesy would make you want to warn others in your field about potentially bad employees, but this doesn't seem to be for any of those reasons.
I think this proves that Konami is the worst video game conpany that exists, I can’t believe I’m saying it, but as far as I know EA doesn’t try to screw over their former employees! Unless I’m living under a rock and don’t know something or I’m just trying to be optimistic they don’t care if you leave their company and work for someone else’s, but Konami is seriously hell on earth. I for sure would rather be overworked rather than live in constant fear, punishment, total obsoleteness, and when I leave, not be able to work in video games again. As much as I hate EA, I believe that they can get their crap together, but I’ve lost all hope for Konami, they’re too far deep in this rabbit hole.
This is disgusting. I am a fan of Castlevania, I even liked the first Lords of Shadow, now it seems like my only hope is Nintendo doing something with the franchise, which means I would have to buy a Switch.
I've heard stories about new Konami employees not being given any work computers for weeks, while being fully expected to do the work regardless (even though it's literally impossible without their own computers). But sheesh, it's like they're only mentally preparing their employees for the kind of abuse that's in store for them.
honestly I believe that the number 3 in the list should be number 1,being mean to your current employees is one thing, but if they have the right to quit then it is a little less bad,but controlling the lives of your ex employees is far more immoral on so many levels.
What gets my skin crawling about Konami is just how intense they are in their horrible decisions. They laser-focus on ruining lives of ex-employees, do everything possible to erase evidence of canceled games, and all sorts of other things.
MgsV was great. But that was the last good game they made =/ and their reputation was tarnished already before it came out by them removing Kojima's name from the box
Nah. Konami still seems like the worst with how they treat their employees. EA and Activision are greedy, but EA hasn't had a controversey stemming from how they treat their employees since the early 2000s (ea wife) as far as I know, and I don't think Activision ever has. EA has even revamped their office campus to try and make it as good as it can be for their employees. Konami treats them like human garbage.
In response to your number 10 entry on this list: To be fair, Konami only PUBLISHED Bomberman: Act Zero. If you really want to give a company grief about the final product that gamers know and (understandably) hate, blame the REAL culprits behind B:AZ: the DEVELOPERS themselves, Hudson Soft. Personally, I can only guess myself as to why Hudson would take the series in a darker, more "mature" direction with Act Zero when previous Bomberman games were just fine by most players' standards as far as tone was concerned. Then again, I could say the same about the Bloody Roar franchise and the much-lambasted Bloody Roar 4, which most BR fans still accuse of killing the series to this day.
Me (Before watching this): EA is the worst video game company ever! 30 or so minutes later... Me (After watching this video): KONAMI CAN BURN IN HELL. HORRIBLY. WITH SCREAMS OF AGONY.

Fun fact: the reason the silent hill collection is such a mess is because Konami actually LOST some the old code needed to program the originals and port it, losing it over time. Which is why they also didn't patch it. After all, how can you fix a game when you don't have the f*****g source code to fix with.

During the PS2 era this was common practice for most companies. Capcom, Square enix ect
Most companies reselling their older games never really crossed their minds since a lot of the mindset was "this generation of video games is the peak and the future"

8: With how botched this remake is, I feel it one should instead say a bad re release is "going Silent Hill HD."

Lords by itself was a pretty good title. But yeah. :( they beat Metal Gear to death with Survive
They also fired David Hayter, the iconic voice of the Snakes.
Well, that's worse.
That explains why he sounded different in Smash bros. Ultimate compared to Brawl
Anyone get the feeling Konami is being run by the Yakuza at this point?
No, obviously Konami are running the Yakuza /s
I bet that now, three years after the events of the latest game, they got Kazuma Kiryu locked in a cubicle, working on a Suikoden gacha mobile games with plenty of delicious pay-to-win microtransactions. I'd rather have my favorite dead JRPG franchise remain dead.

There were so many things Konami could do if they were smart:
A Castlevania game for the 3DS that takes place in 1999 and lets you play the role of Julius Belmont in the final fight against Dracula.

Ea is a villain. But Konami is a super villain
JCBro2014 If I were to work for Konami, I would work on a DDR A port and pitch it to them.

Konami : what the hell is a solid game?

Dude, imagine if Silent Hill became a Nintendo property.
The Black Swordsman Seriously, Dunno how anyone can get away with number 3 without a bunch of criminal charges.
Or we can burn the company. I heard Hades (from Kid Icarus) is looking for souls for breakfast and these guys could be great for his sandwich...
The One Dislike is Konami
What dislike?

Konami removed the evidence
nah, if it was konami, the video, along with the whole channel, would've been nuked into oblivion.
And the other 133 were forced to dislike or else be put in prison by Konami
I find it hilarious that the card game got so little reference, considering how clearly they don't give a rat's ass about the health of the game. The banlist that's supposed to balance the game is only used to sell products, they don't care about product balancing, and the shortprinting is like buying a video game and finding you're missing the disk.
only tcg ocg is a lot less money grubing
How tragically ironic that the company that makes a lot of action-oriented games (EA) physically drains and abuses its employees, while the company that makes a lot of psychological-oriented games (Konami) mentally tortures its employees.
Regarding yugioh, let's talk about a certain card called firewall dragon, a card they thought it was a great idea to release, but unfortunately, quickly went on the ban list, which is unfortunate, as this card is the ace monster of the latest yugioh anime, let me repeat that, they created an ace monster which then went on the ban list, that is some level of stupidity
I'd add it deserved to be there as an example of shitty card design
From what I understand, the card itself wasn't busted but the stuff you could do in combination with it. There are dozens of banned cards like that.
Well...the VERY FIRST card on the YGO banlist only has 200 ATK...and has an effect that can cause a lock...and why did they think it was good idea?
It was nowhere near quick. It took over a year and people being fallouts to be banned
Watching this video five years later…..I highly doubt Konami will ever recover from this. There’s just no way.
Leave it to Konami to make microtransactions even worst

Do you think Mortal Kombat is the reason Castlevania games don't sell well???????
I've heard stories about new Konami employees not being given any work computers for weeks, while being fully expected to do the work regardless (even though it's literally impossible without their own computers).

To be fair, Konami only PUBLISHED Bomberman: Act Zero.
